1 Chapter - 001

"Huff...Huff"

"Ack!!!" I tumbled down the sand and hit a rock sticking out of it. A slight pain in my right arm brings my focus to the large scratch on it. I look up at the place I had been standing and see 8 big disgusting worms pass by it.

Losing my footing had saved me from those monstrosities. How could someone survive them and that bastard told me that some E-ranker kid did it. Well, not E-ranker now I guess. Anyway, how could he survive this place?!! This place is nothing but sand everywhere with monsters the size of the building crawling around. I can consider that kid did survive even while being an E-ranker but how does that bastard expect me to survive this when I am not even a hunter? I am just a normal person.

How did I even reach this place you may ask? It all started when a dungeon break happened in the middle of the road and I got run not by monsters but by people who were trying to escape. I had just exited the coffee shop when someone pushed me from the side screaming 'monsters' and run away when more people kept coming and stomped me to death in their escape.

Afterward, I found myself sitting on a couch with a bunch of comics, DVDs, and games all around with Morgan Freeman sitting in front of me observing me.

"Where am I?" I asked him because I clearly remembered I had died.

"You did die and this is my place." He said.

"You died too." I look at him in sympathy. We both died but I wonder why is he here. I get startled when Morgan started laughing.

"Oh no! I did not die. I am god or ROB as some people nowadays call me in their novels and I took this form because it is more comfortable and your soul too won't perish from directly seeing it." Morg- no god said.

"Then why I am here?"

"You see, there are people out there who fantasize about being reborn in stories and they get some powers from me, or ROB as they call me to make it big in those worlds. I thought why not try it for real? So, I went and searched for some random soul but he didn't make it. Died in the trial. So this time I chose more potential and found you." God said making me gulp in anticipation. I mean who wouldn't want to be reborn, making up for their past mistakes?

"So what should I do now?" I asked nervously.

"Here are all the stories lying around for you to choose from. Select one and then we will continue. Take your time." He said and I started looking around but quickly noticed that none of the titles or their summaries were familiar to me. I looked back at him and as if knowing my thoughts, "These are stories from other places and so you don't know them but don't worry, we will look through them after you choose them."

After that, I again started looking but one of them caught my eye, and reading its summary had my breath quicken. Seeing my state, god walked over to me, took the book from my hands, and pressed my forehead with his finger which calmed me down.

"I am omniscient, so I know everything of these worlds, be it their past, present, and future. Being in the form of stories in front of me is normal for them. Don't think you are some book character made by other people's imagination. Go, keep looking." He said sternly, making me remind me of my father. After he moved, I noticed a separate pile of books and DVDs. There was no summary but the cover of that pile was amazing. One had the title Marvel Comics and the other DC Comics. After some thinking, I chose Marvel over DC and brought its pile towards god.

He, seeing it, gave me a strange look," Are you sure?" I nodded. "Ok. Now you can't change it. Do you want to read comics or watch the movies for the story?" I thought movies would be better because they will cover all the major comics in a few hours. I mean movies and comics follow the same right? At least they did in my world. I hear a chuckle and look at god but he just shakes his head.

"Movies." I said firmly taking the gamble but guess what, it failed.

"Comics and movies are vastly different in this case. Anyway, let's watch them." God said without giving me any time to take back my decision and I found myself in a mini theater with a movie titled Iron-man playing in it. And so time went by with me and god sitting and watching the movies and series released by Marvel and by the end of it, watching I had tears in my eyes regretting my decision.

"Whose entrance did you like the best?" God asked me, taking me out of my sorrow.

"When Marc Spector transformed in the washroom scene." I said making god nod his head.

"Yes, that was great. Ok, I have decided. You will have his power. Here's the status of it and make changes you want to it but remember to be careful with your choices because of after that you will have your trial based on it." He said waving his hand and in front of me a hologram appeared.

[Moon Knight

Powers:

>Divine Empowerment: Being Khonshu's Avatar, Moon Knight has superhuman performance. This includes superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, stamina, reflexes, and perception.

>Transformation: Being able to summon a suit of ceremonial armor over oneself. The armor's appearance can be altered. The suit also allows flight and weapon summoning.

>Regenerative Healing Factor: Able to heal from any external wounds with it being empowered during transformation.

> Self-Sustenance: Moon Knight can survive indefinitely without the need for a breathable atmosphere.

Additional Attributes:

>Telepathic Resistance: Khonshu is said to have four aspects; Pathfinder, Embracer, Defender, and the Watcher of overnight travelers. Moon Knight cycles through these aspects as his avatar, and his brain applies identities to them to explain them. In essence, the mind will be "colonized" by Khonshu, and different personalities may arise to cope with the damage but it will give some protection against certain psychic powers such as possession or mental control.]

After reading the whole thing, the first thing I did was remove Khonshu while retaining all the powers. I also made it possible to summon any cold weapon of my choosing. Removing the side effect of multiple personalities too was important so I did just that and kept the pros. Remembering all the fighting scenes, I tried to add weapon mastery but it did not add. So I looked to god and found him sitting while drinking tea.

"I can't give you weapons mastery as there will be no effort left from your side but I will give you a chance to develop it in the trial. Also, this can help will help." He said and there was additional text in the box.

"Ok. I am done." I said making him get up and walk over to me. He reached out his hand and hand started patting me on the head. It felt warm.

"Now you have your trial. According to the adjustments you made, the trial difficulty will be raised 10 times as Khonshu's influence over your power was close to complete. Removing it and also the mind problem brings your trial difficulty to 15 times but I don't want to send you to death so I will lower it. Don't worry. That E-rank turned S-ranked had also done the same trial and survived when he was weak. You can too."

The warm feeling in my heart started turning cold. When did he say the trial difficulty will increase?

Feeling my gaze, god looked at me," I told you to be careful of your choices. Now you are responsible for them."

He removed his hand from my head and brought it towards my chest. He then pushed.

"Survive, Ethan."

I fell.

And my nightmare began.
