2 Chapter 2

[If you are done swearing for unrealistic revenge, then you can ask your next question.]

Hearing those words, a glint shone in his eyes as he asked his next question with a clear mind. 'I want to know why you showed me all this? You could have ended it in your first sentence, but you showed me all this. So why?'

[It's pretty simple, actually. I just want you to understand a simple but essential rule before you start your journey as the host of the Multiverse Strike group.]

'Oh, and what is that?'

[Actions have consequences, either positive or negative, big or small, but there are always consequences for each action.] The system said now in a sage-like tone.

[Action and consequences are like light and darkness or order and chaos. If one of them exists, then the other will follow.]

[And that's something you have to understand. You spent your whole life not giving a damn about the consequences of your actions.

But that can't continue now because you are now the host of this group and have a responsibility that comes with it.]

[But don't worry, if you drill this fact into your empty skull, you will be barely qualified for the job.]

'Oh, what is this job? You keep telling me how important it is or how lucky I am to receive it. So can you now tell me what this host of the Multiverse strike group means?'

[Multiverse strike group, or MSG for short, is created to counter an extremely delicate situation in different multiverses. Situations that cannot always be solved with brutal strength and need a fitness or delicate touch to fix without breaking the world.]

[And you, as the host of this system, have a responsibility to make sure the members of the group complete the mission in the best way possible.]

'Okay, then, can you tell me why I have selective amnesia?' Mike asked in a quiet tone. 'I can remember people and random events that don't matter to me just fine, but I can't remember any memory with my family and friends. Hell, I can't even remember what they look like.'

[Because they don't matter now]

"But they matter to me," he shouted.

[Just get over with. It was the price for the new life]

[Now that all your questions are answered, it's time for me to go.]

'But I still have some questions...'

[Now that I have answered all the questions that matter, it's time for me to go.]

The time resumed as the system's presence disappeared from this world, leaving Mike alone in the park.

'System!' Mike called, but there was no response. After trying to call the system a few more times, Mike finally looked at the small envelope in his hand.

According to the system, it was his starter pack, so before trying to explore this new world, Mick decided to open it.

[Opening the starter pack...]

.

[Congrats on gaining a personal phone, random skill coupon (Unique grade), and random group invite x4]

[Congrats on gaining a legal identity in this world, a deed for a house in new york (you can choose the type), 100,000$]

.

After a series of notifications, a slightly advanced-looking smartphone appeared in his hand.

Mike looked at the phone's exterior in surprise.

It felt soft, too soft and smooth in his hand, but at the same time, not slippery or malleable at all.

'This is incredible!'

The phone can perform almost all the basic functions of a standard smartphone without any problem.

But it also has a special section for strike group-related things like the chat group option, exchange, self-stats, inventory, mission, daily login, travel, instructions for the whole thing, etc.

After seeing all this, Mike decided to leave others' options alone for some time, opened his inventory, and took out his legal documents to find out who he was.

'Michael Godson, that's my new name, slightly weird but alright, age 17, a high school graduate, parents died seven years ago, so an orphan in this world. I could work with that,' Mike thought while reading all the other information about himself.

"The residence column is empty, huh?" Mike muttered after seeing that his residence column was empty of all his documents.

"Let's just hope it will fill itself after I choose the house," Mike thought before taking out the house deed and began searching for the type of house he wanted.

After some searching, he decided to settle for a three-story house with an attached fully furnished coffee shop on the ground floor, and the next two floors were the living area.

'This one is almost perfect. I always wanted to have a coffee shop for myself,' Mike nostalgically thought, remembering one of the stupid dreams he had when he was just a pre-teen.

After selecting the house, Mike decided to get up from the park bench and begin walking toward the address that had just appeared in his head.

.

After just walking for a few minutes, Mike reached his new home, and he was pleasantly surprised by the location of his new house.

It was in one of the most pleasant parts of the Queens, Bayside. He could definitely see that his system was taking good care of him.

After appreciating the house's exterior, Mike entered the house and began to tour his new home.

.

After a while, Mike sat on the bed, reading the instructions and other information about the Multiverse Strike Group.

'So, that's how it is,' Mike thought after finishing reading the instructions.

'In simple terms, we will be considered employed mercenaries in this, with me being the manager, and our job is to fight and kill beings that disturb the original flow of the different worlds.'

'So, the extremely generous starter pack was a perk of being a manager of a multiversal suicide group,' Mike thought sarcastically.

Still, he wasn't even angry at them as they were the ones that had given him new life, and, most importantly, he was the one that had made this choice.

.

'Now let's see what skill I will get from this,' Mike thought before using the random skill coupon (Unique grade) to gain his first supernatural skill.

[Using random skill coupon (Unique grade)...]

.

[Congrats on gaining Physical Immortality (Unique grade)]

.

A light heat wave passes through his body before disappearing like an illusion, but Mike can still feel some changes in his body. He can't understand or point them out.

So, to see what this skill had done to him, Mike decided to look at the description of the skill.

.

[Physical Immortality (Unique grade): User possesses immortality, a state where one has eternal life and is almost undying.

Sub-skills:

Unaging: Cannot age once reaching a certain point.

Self-Sustenance: Users can survive without needing physical resources, such as food, water, sleep, or oxygen.

Supernatural Stamina: Users can sustain themselves for entire centuries to several millennia without tiring themselves.

Contaminant Immunity: Users are immune to disease, toxins, poisons, etc.]

{Skill ranks: Trash < Common < Uncommon < Rare < Epic < Unique < Ultimate < Origin}

.

'So, I'm physically immortal now, sweet,' Mike thought happily. Now he doesn't have to worry about dying simply because he took the wrong turn.

Extremely satisfied with his new skill, Mike decided to take a look at his stats before using the invite coupon.

.

.

Title: Useless Immortal]

.

'Tier 10,' Mike thought as he looked at his power level. From the understanding of his own strength, Mike can understand that it must be a bottom rank.

"Useless Immortal!" Mike muttered with a smile. The word useless doesn't bother him, as it is something that can be changed with time, and being immortal gives him all the time in the world.

After thinking about the situation some more, Mike decided to send the invite before doing anything else.

[Sending invites...]
