Quitting

General or 3rd Pov

"Did. You. Know." It looked like Natasha's words echoed across the room

Nobody dared to move, if this was a civilian they would just quickly disarm them, but she was the farthest thing from it. She would kill Coulson and Maria the moment anybody so much as moved a muscle. Her body would do it before her mind even knew what happened, that's what Red Room agents are trained to accomplish, shoot without hesitation or remorse, its engraved into their muscle memory.

Coulson looked straight at Natasha, he was silent for a few moments than as if he reached a decision.

"Yes. Fury informed me when you joined Shield"

His words left everyone in the room speechless, especially his own team.

"Fury ordered me to stay quiet you were an excellent asset and if you got rid of your 'small problem' you might have decided that the spy life isn't for you. We couldn't take that chance" Coulson tries to explain himself

The gem in Natasha's pocket vibrated once signaling the truth of his words.

Natasha says nothing and looks at Maria "What about you?"

Maria steels her nerves expecting to die after this and says "I didn't know the specifics, I knew there was something wrong when Fury ordered me not to get 'too' close to you. Said you were an asset that Shield couldn't afford to lose easily. I had my suspicions but I never acted on them and followed my orders."

The gem vibrated once, showing that she is telling the truth as well.

Steve as if he felt Natasha's mood quickly tried to calm her down "Nat calm down, you are better than this, better than them"

Nat Pov

The odds are not in my favor If I kill them now, so let's do this instead.

I say to Steve without looking at him "No I'm not."

"Well Coulson, Maria consider this my resignation from Shield."

I shoot them with absolute precision, I trained this particular move until it was at a surgical level, some clients wanted the victim to suffer. This technique shoots a bullet in the stomach aiming for the spine

If they are lucky Coulson and Maria will be in a wheelchair for the rest of their lives.

If they aren't they will be paralyzed from the neck down.

"Coulson !!" Melinda May yells

The others immediately move towards them, I just put my guns away and go back to my drink.

Clint says nothing, as he sits down next to me, he really is a great friend.

"Nat what have you done" Bruce looks at me horrified, ironically I became the 'monster' now

"They got what they deserved and I got my revenge somewhat" I really wanted to kill them now, but it would not end well

"Are you mad?! How could you?!" One of Coulson's yells at me, I believe his name was Fitz

"I'll kill you!" May pulls her gun on me

"Hey" An IronMan suit comes in front of her,

He looks at me "Are you happy now?"

"No I would have killed them if you weren't here" No need to hide it, that's exactly what I would have done

"We are supposed to be the good guys damn it" Tony yells at me

"Good guys?! She is insane! The scepter made her even more crazy" This time its the girl with the dark hair

"No. There is no sign of the scepters energy on her. What she has done is of her own free will" Hmm she is Lady Sif, one of Thor's friends, she is strong

"If being the 'good guy' means me suffering and being manipulated then I will stop. I quit the Avengers" they shocked at that, like that was worse than shooting someone in front of them

"Are you serious?" Tony's face drops

"Your going to quit just like that?" Bruce looks devastated, If things were different we probably would have gotten together, but they are not, I made my choice and he made his

(I mean the way he looked at Nat, like she is a monster, Ironic from a guy who rampages through cities)

"The Avengers are supposed to be bigger than that, bigger than us" Steve tries to preach his philosophy, 'naive solider' suits him more than I thought

"Well apparently not, Shield was supposed to protect people, and they used me without any doubts. The Avengers were formed by Fury, by Shield, to risk their lives instead of him and the government, we are the fall guys, the team that goes rushing in first, If we screw up the world will have our heads, we have been lucky so far but that won't last long. I don't want to be a part of that life anymore, I want to have a normal life." I say not budging an inch

"I'm with her, I'm done. I will leave the crime fighting to you guys. At the end of the day I'm just a guy with a bow and Nat just has her guns with her, we aren't like you guys. I'm retired from now on, I got lucky a few days ago, that could have easily been a fatal shot. I get it, it comes with the job, but I don't want to do it anymore, a normal relaxing life sounds good right now" Clint says his piece

He stands up and I follow his lead

"You think your just going to leave without any consequences" Thor looks at me, he speaks for the first time since I shot them

I turn to him "Yes, I do. They deserved it and its not like anybody can judge me, we are spies, we don't exist. The only way a spy goes into retirement is if he is permanently injured or another spy kills him. We are leaving before that happens to us." He doesn't try even to stop us, guess as a demi-god and a prince he has seen a lot, this isn't something new in his eyes

"Very well, at least return in 3 days time, I need you to identify the wizard when he arrives." I nod to him, my respect for Thor grew after that

"So just like that, you're done" Bruce turns to me

"Just like that, I believe I deserve a happy normal life after what's happened to me. If you want the same, then take my advice, go to an isolated tropical island with little population, buy yourself a nice house and start a calm life there. I wish you the best of luck Bruce" I leave right after i say those words to him.

(A/N I had guests today, they brought their kids. I'm starting to really dislike children. I already had a headache because of the shitty weather and my mood was bad. They made it a lot worse, one of them even snatched my phone from my hand and started waving his arms around and came close to breaking it, things got messy. Today was an absolutely shitty day, I think this chapter is worse that it usually is, sorry about that)
