75 Chapter 75: Peace

One month passed in a blink of an eye.

Because Jack insisted, Pietro and Wanda had been staying on the spaceship and hadn't left. Here they could directly see the changes in Sokovia.

As Jack had said, Sokovia was slowly getting better.

Firstly, the United Nations intervened in the Sokovian conflict and heavily supported the Sokovian government forces.

Meanwhile, the White House signed executive orders prohibiting major arms contractors, including Stark Industries, from providing weapons to non-governmental armed groups in Sokovia and nearby nations.

For a moment, people were surprised to find that almost half of the Western in the world was contributing to the peace in Sokovia, and that was only what was being shown publicly.

Even the illegal arms trafficking network led by Ulysses Klaue, Africa's largest arms smuggler, also announced stopping to provide weapons to Sokovia's anti-government armed forces.

Furthermore, S.H.I.E.L.D. launched a massive attack against all non-governmental warlords in Sokovia, forcing Hydra to withdraw from the country.

Within two weeks, all the small and large warlords in Sokovia had either surrendered or been defeated. The government quickly took control of the entire country, and within a month, Sokovia finally found true peace after decades of civil war.

As for economic recovery and other issues, Jack's contacts could handle everything. Looking at everything that had happened, He couldn't help but think that there were still many good people in the world.

About Ulysses Klaue and Gideon Malick, one of Hydra's top leaders,

Jack made a deal between them to contribute to world peace for a while. he asked them like obey or be killed, So they have no choice but to follow. The reason why he decide that he wouldn't kill them was because they still have some use for him.

Jack never thought of himself as a truly good person, but when he saw the people of Sokovia celebrating the peace, he felt a sense of achievement in his heart. "Ah, I'm still a good person!"

Pietro and Wanda were overjoyed and even cried tears of happiness when they saw the current state of Sokovia. They couldn't recall when the chaos in their country had started, only that it had been that way for as long as they could remember.

Since their parents' death, they had been tirelessly working towards achieving peace in Sokovia.

They thought they might never see the day when the war ended in their lifetime, but today they saw it! They could hardly believe it, thinking they were dreaming.

When Jack took them to attend a grand peace rally in Sokovia, they saw the lively crowd and were finally awakened from their dream.

The two siblings fell to their knees, crying uncontrollably. God knows what they had been through all these years. After all, they were just two sixteen-year-old kids, the age of high school, in their own country. But they had already experienced so much.

Jack stood by without disturbing them, knowing they needed to vent. When the siblings had vented enough, they stood up again and looked at the lively rally in front of them with eager eyes, looking at Jack.

"Go ahead. I'll come to pick you up tonight."

Jack knew exactly what the siblings wanted and waved his hand, meaning they could go.

"Yay!!"

Pietro jumped with joy and disappeared into the crowd, probably to find some old friends.

"Aren't you going?"

Jack looked at Wanda, who was still standing there, and gently said, "Go celebrate with your friends."

Wanda hesitated for a moment, then looked at him with anticipation and asked, "Um... do you want to come with me? It might be boring to be alone on the ship."

"Um... actually, it's fine."

Faced with Wanda's expectant gaze, Jack couldn't bear to refuse. "So... where do you want to go?"

Wanda was as happy as a child and grabbed Jack's hand without hesitation, "I'll take you somewhere!"

She didn't say where they were going but just pulled him along, and Jack had to follow. He felt her slightly rough touch on his hand, and though he frowned at first, he looked at her with more affection and squeezed her hand back.

Wanda regretted holding Jack's hand in the first place, but she didn't want to let go and upset him. She felt embarrassed and didn't know what to do, causing her face to turn red with nervousness.

Luckily, Jack took the lead in holding her hand, which made Wanda feel better. She felt relieved that it wasn't her who made the first move.

Wanda guided Jack through the crowd, leading him down different streets until they finally arrived at a more peaceful area. There were fewer people around, and it seemed calmer than the street.

Wanda walked straight to a roadside restaurant on the street, which was a type of restaurant that was not fancy. Still, with only a few old customers drinking coffee and eating pie at their tables, their eyes filled with happiness as they watched the crowds outside.

In the restaurant's corner was an old black-and-white television set, continuously broadcasting news of the government army's control over the entire country of Sokovia.

"Hi, Lisa! How's it going today?" Upon entering the restaurant, Wanda naturally let go of her hand and walked to the front desk, which was also the kitchen area, where a woman in her forties was busy cooking.

Hearing Wanda's voice, Lisa turned around in surprise, looking at Wanda in disbelief: "Oh my god... Wanda?! Thank god you're still alive!"

As she spoke, Lisa walked out of the kitchen and embraced Wanda.

"I went to your house, and it was surrounded by the police. You and Pietro were gone, and I thought you..." Lisa looked Wanda up and down, noticing that she looked healthy, and finally sighed in relief.

"That's great, and how is that little guy Pietro doing? Is he okay?" Lisa added

"He's doing well. Right now, he's probably out looking for his friends." Wanda answered

Jack sat on the side, quietly observing as Lisa and Wanda chatted away. After a few minutes, Lisa noticed Jack and was taken aback by his good looks. She nervously asked, "Excuse me, sir, are you here to dine with us?"

"Lisa, he's with me," Wanda suddenly interjected, pushing Lisa's body aside and flashing a wild look in her eyes. "We're hungry. Can we have a number three combo?"

"A number three combo?" Lisa's expression became a bit strange. She looked at Wanda and then at Jack, chuckling and saying, "Looks like he's your boyfriend now!"

Wanda was clearly taken aback by Lisa's unexpected comment. Jack said, "You may have misunderstood. We are not in a romantic relationship,"

Jack continued to smile and act like a gentleman. However, upon hearing his words, Wanda felt a little disappointed.

But just then...

"...at least not yet," Jack added.
