53 Chapter 53: Chitauri

Facing the overwhelming enemy spaceships rushing towards him, he didn't know what to do at the moment.

This situation... to be honest, he didn't expect it.

He couldn't understand why, just after escaping from Sakaar, he hadn't had time to catch his breath, and yet one of Thanos' forces came looking for him.

This speed was too fast unless they had been monitoring him from the beginning.

But how could that be possible? He was just an ordinary earthling. How could Thanos, one of the cosmic tyrants, pay attention to him, and why would he come with a warship?

Unless Thanos really had a way to detect the energy of the gems in the universe, and since his body was full of space stone's energy, it could be detected.

No wonder Athena warned him to be careful of Thanos. That's what it is.

At this point, Jack didn't have any good ideas. After all, this was outer space, and he couldn't guarantee that his energy absorption could keep him alive in a vacuum.

For now, the only way out was to run.

"Full-speed retreat before the encirclement is formed. Run!" Jack immediately said

"Understood!" the A.I said

The spacecraft turned around in place and quickly headed in one direction.

Naturally, this scene enraged the Chitauri, and hundreds of strange-looking small ships chased after Jack.

The good news was that Jack's spacecraft had been modified for speed, but the bad news was that the Chitauri were also fast.

The three wedge-shaped flagship vessels were large and faster than Jack's spacecraft. The smaller Chitauri ships were even more agile and could easily keep up with him, so it was only a matter of time before they caught up.

Jack cursed under his breath as he realized this but quickly made a decision. He unbuckled his seatbelt and went to the garbage chute below, where he took out an energy bomb manufactured by Hydra from the salvage pool.

He put the bomb into the chute, pressed the release button, and the bomb immediately exploded in the way of the Chitauri ships.

"I hope this will buy me some time," he thought.

After completing these actions, Jack returned to the cockpit, turned off the autopilot, and switched to manual control.

He had learned how to fly a spacecraft on Sakaar, and although he wasn't very good at it, escaping was still not a big problem.

"Alpha, where is the nearest jump point?"

(Note: I named the A.I Alpha)

"It's behind you, you can reach it in one minute" said Alpha

"I'm talking about another one!" Jack angrily said, many spaceships are chasing him. There's no way he's going back.

"Directly ahead, half an hour away, a route already planned" Alpha replied

"Full speed ahead now!" Jack said

The speed of the spacecraft increased again, and the two sides slowly left the territory of Xandar as they chased each other.

This made the Nova Empire, who was on high alert, breathe a sigh of relief. They didn't want to face Thanos head-on if it wasn't necessary.

Although Jack had thought about seeking help from Xandar, he quickly forgot the idea.

Leading disaster away from them might give him a chance to escape, but it was a shameful act he couldn't bring himself to do.

Unless he had a personal grudge against them.

The pursuers behind were getting closer and closer, but Jack remained focused on accelerating and escaping.

Just then

A dazzling blue light exploded in the path of the Chitauri mothership, and everything was destroyed. The fastest pursuing mothership was caught off guard and crashed into the explosion, instantly splitting in two.

The other two motherships were severely damaged and unable to move. They had underestimated Jack's "trick mines."

Jack noticed the scene behind him, laughing excitedly and feeling cold sweat. Zola was truly clever, and if this had happened on Earth, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

The chase continued to be intense, but Jack's speed did not slow. He didn't have time to bask in his victory. He had to keep running and plan his next move.

As the Chitauri fell behind, Jack's ship sped up, and he reached the jump point in less than twenty minutes at full speed.

"What's the destination of this jump point?" Jack asked once they arrived.

"Unknown!" Alpha answered.

"Unknown?!" Jack hesitated, knowing that "unknown" meant danger. Danger was everywhere in the universe, and one wrong move could lead to trouble.

But when he looked back at the enemies who had caught up with him, he knew that he wouldn't be able to escape once he fell into the hands of Thanos.

Jack gritted his teeth and pushed the control lever, and the ship instantly flew into the jump point, disappearing like a beam of light.

Following behind him, dozens of Chitauri ships also flew in, and not long after, the only intact mothership among the three also followed.

An endless cosmic storm of apocalyptic rages in the unknown territory, tearing apart anything that comes too close into fragments, living or non-living.

Appearing from a jump point at the edge of the storm, Jack's spaceship is greeted by the seemingly infinite cosmic storm. Even from this distance, he can feel the thick aura of destruction emanating from the storm.

This is not a force that can be resisted by human power; it is the power of the universe itself.

As he stares at the rampant lightning beneath the storm clouds, Jack's face turns grave, and he regretfully begins to realize the consequences of coming here.

How can there be such thunderstorms and lightning in space?

This is a dead end

He wanted to turn back, but Alpha issued a warning, telling him that many spacecraft were approaching from near the jump point.

Jack had no choice but to turn his ship around and start fleeing around the edge of the cosmic thunderstorm cloud.

'He was not going to enter that damn place.'

At this moment, the Chitauri arrived and seemed to be shooting without any care.

"Damn it!"

Watching the overwhelming beam energy attacks behind him, Jack's expression changed suddenly, and he cursed, driving the ship to evade.

However, the attacks were too thick, and his skills were not good enough. After dodging the first wave of attacks, Jack's ship was finally hit in the second wave.

A laser shot hit his wing directly, and the shock wave from the explosion caused the ship to lose its balance instantly. Jack almost broke the control stick. It was still useless.

The ship rotated and flew out, and unfortunately, the direction it was heading was towards the threatening thundercloud.

"Thanos, go to hell...."

Jack only had time to curse for half a sentence before he and the ship fell into the thundercloud.
