Chapter 280: Stable

Jack and Kara sat facing each other, with the glass tube placed on the table in front of them.

"Is... this it?"

Kara raised an eyebrow, and even though she didn't say anything, it was clear that she was doubtful.

Jack understood her doubts. If he were the old him, he probably wouldn't believe that this thing could stop a raging red star.

But, considering the incredible research abilities of Reed, he chose to believe the fake.

"Yes, this is it."

Jack picked up the glass tube and shrugged.

"Just throw it into the sun of Krypton, and it will calm down the red sun. Then we can proceed to deal with the issues on Krypton."

Kara nodded, deciding to trust the bearded man since Jack had assured her that it would work.

"Let me check the time."

Jack looked up at the clock hanging in the living room and did some mental math.

"If we go now, we should be able to make it back in time for sleep."

When hearing the word "sleep," Kara felt a bit uncomfortable and quickly changed the subject.

"By the way, how do we go there?"

"We'll fly there."

"Fly there?"

Yes, they would actually fly there.

Jack didn't even use a spaceship; his speed was faster than that.

With Kara in his arms, the two slowly flew from the rooftop.

When they reached a good height, Jack suddenly sped up, and after a series of sonic booms, they vanished.

In space, Jack traveled towards Krypton at a speed dozens of times faster than light. His speed kept increasing, and if it weren't in the vacuum of space on Earth, this speed would have torn the planet in half in an instant.

In his embrace, Kara dared not open her eyes and simply held on tightly.

Because the speed was too fast, even the stars couldn't keep up and formed long streaks of light.

In less than ten minutes, Jack covered a distance of tens of light-years and reached their destination.

When the red supergiant star appeared in front of them, Jack slowly slowed down. Finally, the two stopped in front of the red star.

The distance between them was less than a thousand kilometers, and at this distance, Jack could feel that the big red star was not stable.

If he didn't do something, Krypton would probably be destroyed again in just a few years, even though it had just been restored.

But luckily, they were here.

Kara, who noticed that they had stopped, quietly raised her head.

She gave Jack a forced smile at first, but the red sun in front of her soon captured her attention.

Seeing this, Jack waved his hand and released a biotic force field that enveloped them, at the same time shielding Kara from the radiation of the red sun.

"Phew, I feel much better now."

Shortly after the biotic force field was activated, Kara recovered.

She patted her chest and looked at the faraway red sun, still feeling afraid.

"If we had stayed a little longer, I might have turned back into an ordinary person."

"I will fix that weakness, but now is not the time to consider that."

Jack turned his hand over and pulled out a stabilizer, which he then gave to Kara.

"It's your turn."

Kara felt nervous and unsure as she looked at the stabilizer in Jack's hand.

She looked at Jack, and the way he looked at her gave her confidence.

She grabbed the stabilizer, turned toward the sun, and let go of it with a strong swing of her right hand.

The stabilizer flew fast toward the sun.

Given the distance of less than a thousand kilometers, it was a piece of cake for Kara's strength.

Kara, who had thrown the stabilizer, didn't blink as she stared at the sun.

In just a moment, the outer case of the stabilizer container evaporated due to the high temperature of the star, but the stabilizer inside remained intact.

After a few minutes, it finally went into the star's surface.

In an instant, the red sun in front of them experienced a tremendous change.

The stabilizer helped the star's chaotic core get back to normal, and the star's turbulent surface calmed down suddenly.

After about half an hour, the changes in the entire star finally ended, and Kara could sense it. She rushed up to Jack and gave him a tight hug.

At least this time, her planet would not face the fate of destruction.

"Alright, calm down, Kara!"

Jack looked at the ecstatic girl in his arms, affectionately kissed her forehead, and then said softly, "This is the first gift I've given you, and it seems like you really like it."

"Of course, I love it! I love anything you give me."

Kara blushed, which made Jack want to take a bite out of her, but he stopped himself.

After all, they were in space, and there was something important they needed to do next.

"Well, now let's see the second gift!"

"There's another one?"

Kara widened her eyes in surprise, clearly not expecting so many surprises today.

"Follow me!"

Jacl didn't directly answer, but he hugged Kara tightly.

In a few movements, they arrived in front of the newly revived planet Krypton.

Kara looked at the planet in front of her, which was both familiar and strange.

When she looked at Jack, her eyes were filled with a lot of different thoughts.

"Kara, I don't want to lie to you. Although I have restored Krypton, I haven't resurrected the people on Krypton. But I promise you, I will soon rescue your friends and family."

Jack held Kara's shoulders with both hands and said seriously,

"But today, there is someone you must meet. Honestly, I'm not sure if this counts as a surprise, but you'll know sooner or later."

At first, Kara felt slightly disappointed when hearing that only Krypton had been restored, but she quickly recovered when she heard the rest.

However, Jack's words left her somewhat puzzled.

Before she could ask, Jack pulled her along, and they arrived on the surface of Krypton.

Stepping on her planet once again, Kara's face became complicated, and her eyes were filled with memories.

She squatted down, picked up a stone from the ground, looked at the empty land around her, and sighed deeply.

Just then, Jack suddenly spoke.

"They're here quite fast!"

Before Kara could ask for details, a Kryptonian scout ship, which she was very familiar with, flew quickly from the distant sky and soon arrived in front of them.

"This..."

Kara looked at this scene in astonishment, then turned to give Jack a look that said,

"Did you do this?"

Jack shrugged, smiled mysteriously, and nodded in the direction of the spacecraft.

At that moment, the spacecraft slowly descended about ten meters in front of them.

The cabin door opened, and a middle-aged woman in a sky-blue robe walked out of the spaceship.

Kara's eyes widened as she watched the woman's footsteps, and when she finally saw the woman's face clearly, she was completely stunned.

"Mom... Mom... Mom?!"
