Chapter 278: Rebuild

In the evening, Kara's long day of work was over. She rubbed her head and felt a little tired.

Despite her superhuman abilities, she still experienced mental fatigue.

After all, she was just a young woman in her twenties who had superpowers. Even Superman had to work to make a living.

However, she was surprised to find that Jack hadn't come to pick her up today.

He seemed completely focused and didn't notice her arrival.

"Jack?"

Kara couldn't help but call out.

Hearing her voice, Jack turned around and waved at her.

"Come over here quickly!"

Kara walked over to see the high-tech device in front of her.

Even though she didn't know much about astronomy, she could see a big red star.

It reminded her of how a giant red star lit up her home world, Krypton.

"Yes, it's a red giant star. The red sun is the life source of Kryptonians. Kryptonians exposed to the yellow sun can no longer adapt to the red sun's radiation."

Jack held Kara from behind and explained excitedly.

Kara turned to look at him and blinked her captivating eyes when she heard this.

"Alright, alright, I'll tell you,"

Jack surrendered, raising his hands in a gesture of surrender.

Kara smiled happily as he held her in his arms. There was a hint of satisfaction on her face.

"This is the sun of Krypton."

Her smile instantly vanished from her face as she processed the answer. She turned back to look at the red giant on the screen, her face filled with astonishment.

Even though Earth and Krypton were only a few dozen light-years apart, this tiny device let them observe Krypton's situation.

But that wasn't the main point.

Kara felt sad and down when she thought about Krypton, and her face dimmed.

Seeing her in that state, Jack tightened his hold on her immediately.

"You still have me, Kara. I'll be with you, and there is a way," he reassured her.

When Kara was caught off guard, she asked, "What way?"

"Remember what I mentioned at lunch?"

Jack cupped her face with his hands, looking into her eyes with determination.

"I said I would give you a great gift."

Kara was still not sure what he meant by the gift he talked about.

Jack didn't rush to explain. He held her hands tightly, his gaze fixed on hers, his expression unusually serious.

"Tell me, Kara, what is your wish?"

"Wish?"

Kara looked at Jack and thought about what she should say.

Suddenly, the thought of Krypton crossed her mind, and she blurted out without thinking,

"I wish Krypton could be reborn!"

As soon as Kara finished speaking, Jack felt a sudden weakness in his body. Half of the immense energy that surged inside him vanished in an instant.

Meanwhile, in a distant star where Krypton used to be, the collapse of Krypton released a powerful kinetic force that even affected other planets in the same star system.

Some of them were knocked out of their original orbits and started drifting around randomly.

In a few more years, they might be destroyed when the gravitational pull of the nearest stars pulls them toward them.

But when Kara made her wish, a strange and powerful force stopped time in the whole star system.

All of the moving planets, pieces of Krypton, and spacecraft parts were frozen in one spot, creating the appearance of a beautiful holographic photograph.

Then, as if led by a hand no one could see, the star system quickly returned in time.

The planets went back to where they were before the explosion, and the pieces of Krypton started to gather and put themselves back together.

Krypton finally made its appearance in this universe after a piece of it flew from a distant part of the galaxy and fell back into place.

On the other side, on Earth.

Jack was a bit surprised by the sudden emptiness in his body, but he didn't mind.

If this had happened before, he would have felt weak for a few days, but things were different now.

As the authority and creator of the Extreme Speed Force, he could draw on it whenever he needed to.

Even though there wasn't much Extreme Speed Force at the moment, it was more than enough to keep him going.

As long as he found a few more speedsters as representatives, he could easily make up for this loss.

With a single thought, the Extreme Speed Force quickly filled the void in his energy, and within a couple of breaths, he was back to his original state.

Jack didn't expect rebuilding Krypton to cost as much as it did, but luckily, it was just that.

If Kara's wish had included resurrecting the people of Krypton, he would have been overwhelmed.

It looked like Krypton and Kryptonian civilization would have to be brought back to life in two steps.

It had to be said that this was the biggest wish he had ever made.

And the reward was just a single kiss.

But Jack felt it was worth it.

Everything happened so quickly that Kara didn't even notice his unusual behavior.

She regained her senses after making her wish and became even sadder.

"Kara, look,"

Jack said, turning her face to make her look at the screen.

Kara listened and looked at the big screen. The next thing she knew, she was shaking all over, and her face was shocked.

"This! This can't be possible!"

The camera on the screen zoomed out, and in the vast emptiness not far from the red giant star, she was very familiar with and nostalgic about a planet that was slowly rotating.

It was Krypton.

Kara couldn't believe what she was seeing. She couldn't help but rub them hard, but it didn't change anything.

She turned to look at Jack automatically, her mouth slightly open, muttering, "Is this... is this a video?"

"Watch carefully, Kara,"

Jack spoke seriously, causing her to turn her gaze back to the large screen.

"This is a live feed. Krypton has been reborn."

"All of this is real! Krypton has been reborn?"

Jack had both hands on Kara's shoulders. As he looked at her, her eyes were full of both excitement and joy.

"Yes! Krypton has been reborn! Your wish has been fulfilled!"

Kara suddenly felt like a blown-up balloon when she heard the news again. She got her balance back on her own before Jack could help her.

"No, No, No, No."

She broke free from Jack's hands and aimlessly walked around the rooftop, pressing her temples with both hands. Her face turned red from excitement and frenzy.

She stood still, turned around, and looked at Jack.

"You... you made my wish come true?! Is this your doing?!"
