217 Chapter 217:Godhood

The Next Day.

Paradise Island Training Ground.

There were cheering Amazons all around the training area, and Jack was constantly under attack in the middle of the field by dozens of top warriors.

Jack had a one-handed sword in his right hand and his left hand rested behind his back. He had a confident smile on his face.

He remained calm and steady despite the intense attacks.

Swinging his silver-white sword, he could block each attack and even counterattack when he got the chance.

Seeing Jack effortlessly handle the intense attacks from a dozen elite Amazon warriors, the women around him were amazed by how good he was.

If they didn't know that he was the husband of their princess, some of them might have tried to go out with him.

As time passed, the stamina of the attacking warriors slowly weakened, and their attacks became slower.

On the other hand, Jack seemed to become more energized with each strike, and his smile never faded.

Clang!

With a slight tremor in his wrist, he deflected the spear of the last opponent and let out a breath.

"How was that?"

Diana, who had been eagerly waiting on the side, ran up to Jack, looked at his face with worry, and gave him a towel.

"It looks like a good sign."

Jack took the towel and wiped off the nonexistent sweat on his forehead.

He spoke casually, "I have indeed gained the power of Ares, or rather, his godhood. I can now be considered the new God of War."

Hippolyta and Antiope, who had just come up, had a hint of worry on their faces, but they hid it well.

They did not expect this to happen.

Ares had indeed died, but after his death, his power, or godhood, somehow got absorbed by Jack.

During the recent battle, he didn't rely on his Kryptonian Physiology but instead relied on his instincts and defensive skills.

He had never used a sword before, but the moment he grabbed one, he transformed into a master swordsman.

He had tested other weapons before, and the results were the same.

If this was just a coincidence, then Jack had been very aware of a slight but clear improvement in his strength since yesterday.

With his abilities, he could easily detect the differences between these powers.

Battle bestowed him with strength.

This was an ability that only the God of War, Ares, had.

Unlike absorbing energy, even if he did nothing, this power would continue to rush inside him.

Jack first named it the Power of War.

He understood why Ares was obsessed with human conflicts.

Indeed, any form of human warfare, even a drunken fight between two people, would benefit him.

The feeling of becoming incredibly powerful without much effort was truly satisfying.

His own strength was already strong enough, so the additional power gained from battles was small.

Of course, if he were to face Darkseid now, that extra power would be hard to ignore.

In other words, it depended on the scale of the war and the opponent he faced.

This ability was quite impressive.

If he could have it in the Marvel Universe, it would give him an extra card to deal with the Celestial.

Today, he had forcefully pulled himself out of his comfort zone and experimented with his new abilities.

So far, it seemed good.

He wondered if it would be effective against the Celestial.

But if he met certain strong people in the DC Universe in the future, he would not have to be afraid.

For example, Darkseid, Doomsday, and other troublesome characters like Anti-Monitor.

This ability would surely come in handy.

"I hope you can be responsible with this power!"

Hippolyta gave a complicated reminder, and then she turned and walked away.

Antiope looked at the two of them, and Hippolyta followed them out of the room, not sure what to say.

"Mother is worried."

Diana looked at her leaving mother and spoke softly, "She's worried that you'll be tempted by this power and lose yourself."

Jack nodded understanding, knowing that no one could fight the temptation to get stronger.

He was not the only one.

However, he had a better way to get stronger than this, so he would not get lost in this power.

"By the way, I haven't had a chance to explore Paradise Island properly. How about you show me around?"

Jack's suggestion brightened Diana's eyes.

"That's a great idea. Let's go!"

She couldn't wait to show her lover the place where she grew up.

The two of them went to the barn and took a horse, riding together to explore Paradise Island.

Paradise Island wasn't too small, but it definitely wasn't very large either. With a fast horse, they could go around it in about an hour.

Jack was behind, and Diana was in front, holding the reins in her hands and leaning against him.

She sometimes smiled and said hello to Amazonians who were walking by.

As a newlywed, she felt the added responsibility.

Jack felt some hesitation when he looked at Diana, whose smile never faded.

He couldn't stay for long, at most a little over two months.

After those two months, he would have to leave.

To him, the time apart would be only three months, but for Diana, it would be nearly eighty years.

Maybe even longer.

He didn't know if he should tell Diana.

It was always hard to say goodbye to the ones you loved.

The two of them rode on a horse, slowly making their way through Paradise Island, and at some point, they arrived at the beach where they first met.

"Look, right here! You appeared in my life for the first time."

Diana excitedly pointed to the nearby beach, as if remembering something funny.

"You know, back then, you really scared my mother. We all thought you were up to no good."

She looked up at Jack, love filling her eyes, and suddenly tilted her head to give him a gentle kiss on the lips.

"Now, it seems like you came for me from the very beginning."

Diana talked a lot because she was happy and seemed to have much to say.

Jack did not interrupt, he just listened quietly and did not take his eyes off Diana.

Diana introduced him to every detail of Paradise Island, every plant and animal she had grown up with.

After about an hour, Diana pushed the horse to the back of Paradise Island, where there was a big area of grass.

They got off their horses and walked on the grass hand in hand without saying a word.

Diana could also see that Jack had something on his mind.

She had just come to her mind when before he spoke up.

"You're leaving, Right?"

Finally, she gathered the courage, stood still, and looked at Jack.

"I..."

Jack didn't know how to begin. He couldn't even meet Diana's gaze, so he held her tightly in his arms, avoiding her eyes.

"I promise you, Diana, I will definitely come back!"

"I need to confess something to you so that you can understand my situation."

"Actually... I'm not from this universe. I come from a different universe."
