269 Chapter 267. Weaknesses (Part1)

"Davy Jones!"

Although the Avengers had expected to meet the Devil of the Seas, when they saw Davy Jone's appearance, they couldn't help but feel shocked. After all, according to human aesthetics, Davy Jones's appearance was a bit too out there. The constantly twisting octopus tentacles on his face challenged the limits of human acceptance.

"Ugh."

Underneath his steel mask, Tony's face revealed a clear expression of disgust as he stared at the squirming tentacles on Davy Jones's face. He couldn't help but say, "Honestly, with so many tentacles on your face, don't you feel uncomfortable?"

"Do you feel uncomfortable with your nose?" Davy Jones retorted, taking a huge pipe out of his coat and putting it in his mouth.

He then roughly shouted, "Damn these lazy creatures, come out and work!"

Creak, creak--

With Davy Jones's command, the sound of hurried footsteps came from the hold of the three-masted ship. Soon, the Avengers saw a group of half-human, half-sea creature with strange and twisted faces coming up to the deck.

Their appearances were even more distorted than Davy Jones's, and some of them couldn't even maintain a basic human form.

They were holding cleaning tools and had started to clean up beside the grumbling figure of Davy Jones.

"Captain!" However, as Natasha looked at the strange figures on the deck, her expression suddenly changed. She noticed the clothing worn by these crew members, who were cleaning up. They wer the uniform of the SHIELD Rapid Response Team.

"Jarvis, scan these guys."

"Yes, Sir."

Jarvis, the artificial intelligence in Mark 8, quickly scanned the crew members and reported, "Sir, according to the scan results, these crew members are members of the SHIELD's Rapid Response Team who previously participated in the first mission to board."

"It looks like they didn't die, but they didn't end up well either." Raising an eyebrow, Tony's gaze scanned these expressionless members of the team who were working on the [Flying Dutchman], and a hint of horror flashed through his mind.

"Captain, these crea—men, are members of the team who carried out the first mission."

"Looks like they changed, a lot..."

Hawkeye tightened his grip on the bow and arrow in his hand, and spoke with a sharp gaze.

"What did you do to them?"

Upon hearing Tony's report, Steve tightly frowned and coldly questioned Davy Jones.

"What did I do to them?"

Faced with Steve's question, Davy Jones opened his mouth, and the octopus tentacles on his face moved. It created a creepy and terrifying image, "I generously gave them immortality."

"Immortality? Immortality comes with having fish parts?"

Tony couldn't help but retort as he looked at the team who now looked like a seafood platter.

"..."

Davy Jones: "Immortality always comes at a price."

Tony: "The price seems a bit too high to me. To be honest, what do you guys eat on the ship? Do you shed a tear when you eat seafood?"

"Shut up!"

Tony's persistent mocking obviously angered Davy Jones. The octopus tentacles on his face suddenly trembled, and his face turned grim. He then picked up his pipe and took a big puff, suppressing his anger and said, "Good, very good. When I catch you, I'll just replace your head with a conch. Let's see how you'll talk then."

"A conch?"

Upon hearing Davy Jones's threat, Tony raised an eyebrow as he imagined what he would look like with a conch shell for a head. He shuddered and without hesitation, fired a blast at the sea creature, "On second thought, I'm pretty happy with my current looks."

Bang!

Tony's blast was like a signal to start the battle. Davy Jones dodged the attack, unsheathed his sword from his waist, and commanded his crew to attack the Avengers on deck.

Swish, swish--

In the face of the approaching crew, Hawkeye confidently shot arrows from his bow. As a skilled marksman, Hawkeye wouldn't miss at such close range. The sharp arrows hit the crew members in the head with deadly accuracy. However, these crew members who had transformed into marine creatures seemed to be unaffected by the obvious fatal attack. They simply removed the arrows from their heads and broke them in half, then continued to attack the Avengers.

[Curse: The Flying Dutchman can transform the crew it captures into half-human, half-ocean creatures, and their souls will forever belong to the Flying Dutchman.]

"Arrows have no effect on them."

Swinging his bow and turning it into a blunt weapon, Hawkeye pushed back the crew while saying so.

"I can see that."

Natasha fired her guns but found that they couldn't stop the advance. She tossed them aside and kicked a crew member aside as she spoke.

"If we keep fighting like this, we don't have much chance of winning, Captain."

Tony kept attacking Davy Jones in, launching a barrage of micro-missiles from the shoulder armor onto the [Flying Dutchman]. However, the results were not as expected, "This ship is as strange as Davy Jones, it even has the ability to self-repair."

The missiles launched by Tony created deep craters on the deck of the Flying Dutchman, but in the next second, these craters seemed to come alive and healed themselves, returning to their original state.

Bang, bang--

Swinging his shield, Steve knocked down the approaching crew members one by one. Though the [Flying Dutchman] had cursed them with near-immortality, their abilities as special forces members hadn't been enhanced too much. While their combat skills were far superior to that of ordinary people, there was still a clear gap compared to the Avengers.

Screech --

Davy Jones shot out a tentacle that wrapped around the ankle of the Mark 8, and in the next second, a tremendous force began to contract from the point of entanglement, producing a jarring sound as it twisted and damaged the sturdy ankle of Tony's armor.

"Sir, Mark 8 is starting to sustain damage!"

Inside his helmet, Jarvis flickered the red warning lights, issuing an alert to Tony.
