256 Chapter 254. The Beginning of the Battle (Part2)
Unlike big-headed aliens depicted in numerous sci-fi movies, the Chitauri were human-like in size, but only in size. In reality, they were clad in metallic armor, with insect-like mouths, and hoarse shrieks, as they scrambled through the portal to invade New York.

However, Tony wasn't dealing with a single Chitauri. Instead, he was facing a steady stream of alien troops. And so, even though he tried to keep them under control, a large number of Chitauri entered through the portal had evaded him and scattered in all directions.

The guns in their hands fired beams of blue light. The unsuspecting people of New York were defenseless against an invasion from a real alien army. A large number of buildings collapsed and the screaming crowd scrambled around in a panic.

Its huge metal body emitted a mysterious luster in the sun's rays. Spinning its body around, the giant metal worm made a simple turn, but smashed a towering building directly in two.
Moreover, the giant metal worm didn't just float in mid-air. It was also a carrier. It opened the doors on itself and countless Chitauri troops leapt out of it. In an instant, the small half of the Chitauri army that had previously been wiped out by the Avengers had grown once more, adding a few more perilous aspects to the whole situation.
