10 Chapter 10. Doing Good Deeds.

A few hours later, Daredevil recovered from his coma.

"Don't move, you are badly hurt."

In the living room, Claire, who had been staying awake, heard a movement from the sofa and rushed over to stop Daredevil, who wanted to get up, "I don't have many professional tools here, so I could only treat your wounds temporarily. If you don't want your wounds to get any worse, just lie on the sofa and rest, or don't expect me to help you in the future."

Claire's words clearly had an effect. Daredevil stopped struggling and laid back on the sofa covering his chest and panting slowly to ease the pain from his injury.

"So, Matt, who is it this time?"

Claire poured a cup of coffee to resist sleepiness, looked at Daredevil on the sofa, and asked in a familiar tone.

Obviously, she was very familiar with Daredevil and even knew the identity behind the superhero.

"Madame Gao, an old lady."

"Old lady?"

Claire raised her eyebrows and looked up and down at Daredevil's appearance at the moment.

This injury didn't seem like it was caused by an old lady.

"It's a bit hard to believe, but it's the truth." Even Daredevil himself, if he hadn't experienced it personally, couldn't believe that Madame Gao's elderly body could have such a powerful force.

"All right."

Claire shrugged her shoulders. After all, there was a superhero lying on her sofa in front of her eyes, so it didn't seem unacceptable that there was a strong old lady out there.

"And, how did you get to my doorstep?"

As a professional nurse after dealing with Daredevil's wound, Claire understood that it was impossible for him to come here alone because of the severity of his injury.

"Ah Xing."

Daredevil whispered a name.

"Ah Xing?"

Claire repeated the name Daredevil said with a puzzled look on her face.

"Who's Ah Xing? A fellow vigilante?"

"No, I met him in Madame Gao's factory. He said that he's from Peng Lai."

"Peng Lai? What kind of place is Peng Lai?"

Claire pronounced the somewhat tongue-twisting name and felt her mind was a little inadequate.

"I don't know." Daredevil shook his head, "But I have a hunch that I'll meet him again in the future."

  ...

"Word has it, you ran into a bit of trouble, Madame Gao."

In a familiar building, on the top floor.

Kingpin looked at the thin old woman in front of him and quietly remarked.

"So did you, Kingpin."

Leaning on her cane, Madame Gao glanced back at the missing window behind Kingpin and replied.

"It looks like we both had a bit of a rough night."

Kingpin reached out and touched his once lost cane with a sneer.

When two prominent figures from Hell's Kitchen got together, it wasn't just a matter of chatting about their daily complaints. Gathering up the smirk that was on his face, Kingpin looked at the plain-looking Madame Gao but had no intention of belittling her, "So, Madame Gao, do you need me to help you?"

With Kingpin's ability, as long as he gave the order, he could help Madame Gao rebuild her factory.

However, in the face of Kingpin's kindness, Madame Gao bluntly shook her head and refused, "No need, it's never the factory or what's in it that interests me; everything is just a means to an end out of convenience."

"I'm leaving, Kingpin, and I need time to think about the path ahead."

"Leaving, where to, China?"

For the first time, the expression on Kingpin's face changed as he gazed at Madame Gao, who had a defiant look on her face.

The question was asked outright.

"No, it's much further than that."

Madame Gao took a few steps on her cane and seemed to think of something before turning her head again to Kingpin behind her, "But before I do, I have another interesting piece of news to share with you ..."

  ...

"Dad, dad, you finally came back."

After a long and difficult escape from a factory fire, the middle-aged man returned home. The first thing he heard was his daughter's innocent, affectionate voice.

"Yeah, Dad is back."

Holding his daughter tightly in his arms, the man's eyes turned red.

Carrying his daughter to the bedside, the man immediately met the worried gaze of his wife.

"You didn't ..."

On the sickbed, his wife's eyes were tightly fixed on the man's eyes. She spoke with a shaky tone.

In response, the man didn't open his mouth to say anything more, nor did he say anything about what had happened to him this evening. He just shook his head.

"No? Then that's good, that's good..."

After receiving the response from her husband, the wife in the sickbed then went limp all of a sudden, leaning on the head of the bed with her mouth mumbling over and over.

She couldn't imagine what kind of attitude she would have had if her husband had gone blind for her.

"Dad, someone's at the window."

Just then, the daughter he was holding in his arms suddenly pointed to the window and shouted.

Hearing that, the first thing the man thought of was that Madame Gao had sent someone over. With a look of panic, he shielded his daughter and wife behind him.

"Please spare my daughter and my wife, they're innocent. I'll... I'll go back to the factory ..."

"..."

The man begged for a moment, but the expected situation didn't appear. There were no vicious guards from Madame Gao's men barging in, nor was there anything terrible going on in front of them.

Turning to the daughter behind him, she nodded her little head with a serious little expression on her face.

"Really, Dad, I saw a man appear in the window."

After hesitating for half a moment, the man carefully walked toward the window.

"This is?!"

Ryan jumped from rooftop to rooftop in Hell's Kitchen, thanks to the superb leg strength of his [Mighty Steel Leg] ability.

The corners of his mouth curved upwards in a distinct curve as his eyes swept over the contents displayed on the data panel.

He was certainly excited about the massive amount of reputation points he got from Daredevil and Kingpin.

However, it was the three minuscule increases in reputation that appeared at the end of the system prompt that Ryan smiled at.

Although there was no thought of becoming a superhero, it felt good to do a good deed every now and then.

With that thought in mind, Ryan leapt up onto a high building with a slight burst of energy and, with a few undulating leaps, eventually disappeared into the shadows of Hell's Kitchen.
