5 4. Genocide: To Prevent or To Enjoy?

After checking out his powers and meeting all but one member of Thanos's Black Order, Jerry was headed to the actual place he had actually decided to visit.

Interacting with others was fine, but honestly, talking in such a formal manner gave an odd vibe, though he didn't mind it much. He has already prepared himself to talk in such a way for the upcoming future days.

Reaching the destined section of the ship, he gazed downward from one of the bridges.

This particular segment, known as the Barrack, stood as one of the most expansive areas on the ship, harboring two other similarly imposing Barracks. Each of these domains boasted an impressive complement of more than 4 million soldiers.

He observed as the soldiers went on their preparation for the upcoming war next week.

Chitauri soldiers putting on armor on themselves.

Chitauri soldiers helping other Chitauri soldiers wear the armor.

Chitauri soldiers helping the Chitauri Leviathans wear the armor.

Chitauri soldiers restraining the Outriders and loading them in the dropships.

Chitauri soldiers repairing and performing maintenance on the array of weapons, chariots, and ships.

'There are a lot of Chitauri soldiers alright. And wait, are those Chitauri Gorillas? They're really cool!'

But... wasn't this just a preparation to raze another planet with the blood of the inhabitants? Murdering half of the population of just another planet.

As Jerry thought about how he will have to aid Thanos in the upcoming mass murder campaign; how he will have to deliver speeches of Thanos's glory as this same army would drag the citizen out of their houses and line them up for slaughter.

And most disgusting of all... how he will have to keep smiling while doing all that. The memories of Maw only amplified the feeling of revulsion.

Jerry wasn't a saint at heart and he knew it. He could be selfish and even manipulative if needed. But still, genocide and mass murder...

Perhaps it would've been easier if Jerry was a cold-blooded soldier or an assassin. But he was not. He was just an ordinary 9-5 office worker who wanted to climb up the corporate ladder, marry a buxom woman, have lots of kids, and maybe do a family world tour if his expenses ever allowed.

The thought of killing innocents, children, and helpless women even though he hated it... A feeling of powerlessness crept up on him.

'Wait, I can use my back pain surgery as an excuse. I'll rig the belt on the day of battle and commission myself out for a few weeks.' Jerry decided to not participate in the upcoming genocide.

'I have to gain freedom from Thanos as soon as I can. At least before we invade any more planets.'

Yeah, even though Jerry didn't want the slaughter, he was under no heroic delusion that he could stop Thanos or his genocidal ideology via fight or 'words' like T'Chala did in the What If series.

'Who am I even kidding? That universe had a weakling ass of a Thanos, I mean he got defeated by just two members Black Order! Thanos of this universe could easily wipe the floor with all of us combined. He doesn't even need his sword for that.'

Thanos was too powerful for Jerry to handle by himself, at least for now he is. It's obvious! The Thanos in the MCU, particularly the 2014 version of him in "Avengers: Endgame," exhibited a remarkable ability to subdue every formidable Marvel powerhouse, armed solely with his formidable propeller sword or whatever it was called.

Except for Wanda, yeah.

So, there was no way Jerry could hope to defeat the Mad Titan just after waking up in this fascinating yet threatening universe.

'Wanda, huh...'

She was Jerry's number-one crush in MCU. No, there was a tie between Nat and Wanda, hence both earned the title of Jerry's number-one crushes.

Suddenly remembering her, Jerry made a note to himself to stay away from that hot but crazy mommy when he goes to Earth in the future, that is if she was already entranced by Vision or till he figures out a way out of his wrinkled and old body.

'I might creep her out in this body, and she might make a spaghetti soup out of me just because I creep her out...' Jerry sighed. Well, he was over-exaggerating.

After he gets a new body though, he might just try and seduce her for himself.

"*Grunt* *Growl* *IncomprehensiblewordsandfewmoreGrunt*."

'And now we have Cull Obsidian.' Jerry sighed again, in just a couple of hours of coming out of his living quarters he has met all the members of the Black Order.

Cull Obsidian was making small talk with his unique language which sounded like incomprehensible grunts and growls which somehow managed to seem different from that Chittauri soldier's speech that came into his room earlier.

Obviously, Jerry understood Cull's language.

"Hello Cull, and indeed, our formidable army possesses great prowess, making it most deserving of serving our esteemed Sire," Jerry replied to the huge monster.

Jerry glanced at Cull's monstrous and beastly face, 'He looks kinda cool though, and that weapon in his hands, The Chain Hammer, huh.'

'Why don't I have a unique weapon?'

'Ah, yes, I have something much better, telekinesis. But it ain't that unique, even a dog has this power. I'm not complaining though, as I have much better command over my powers than she could ever hope for.'

'Hmm, maybe I should buy her from The Collector. Her name was Cosmos, I think, and she doesn't like being called a bad dog. I could train her to wield her powers better.'

"*Grunt* *Growl* *Grunt* ?" Cull Obsidian's question broke Jerry from his musings.

"The plan of attack? It necessitates further meticulous scrutiny and refinement; it is not yet in a state of presentable finality. After a comprehensive assessment, I shall deliver it to Sire myself." Jerry replied to his Giant adopted sibling.

"*Grunt* *Grunt* *Grunt*."

"Oh, thank you for your compliments, Cull, but I am merely performing my duties as a child of Thanos besides anything less than perfect would be blasphemy."

Cull was saying that Maw's strategies were always perfect and could conquer any planet in the least amount of time.

Jerry accepted the compliment even though he knew he didn't deserve them, the original Maw did; not that he wanted to get compliments for the genocidal endeavors the previous owner of the body had strategized and helped execute.

As he talked a bit more with him, Jerry realized that Cull was a really sweet guy, at least to him. And judging from the way he talked to Jerry, the giant member of the Black Order seemed to look up to him as an older brother figure.

Even the memories of Maw supported his judgment.

After Jerry was done talking with Cull, he made his way to the control room of the Barrack. The place was absolutely loaded with an abundance of azure holographic displays.

The screens displayed distinct specifications and real-time performance statistics pertaining to diverse components of the barrack facilities.

There was one particular screen that attracted Jerry's attention, it showed the status of the Hive Mind Core, the quintessence of the Chitauri army.

Although its connection was limited to this specific barrack, it was still a means to control those millions of Chitauri soldiers down the levels of this wing.

The best part about it was that it could be programmed, that's how Thanos controlled the Chitauris.

'And guess what? As the most loyal and competent member of the Black Order and Thanos's most trustworthy child, Maw was given the access code to the Hive Mind core.'

And with enough brainstorming maybe he would be able to override the command hierarchy lock, remove Thanos's name from everywhere, and put his name at the top and only order instead of a measly second in command.

A momentary surge of excitement overcame Jerry, though he swiftly suppressed it. He wasn't a hasty person, he knew that this was just one of the many pieces that he'd have to gather to escape from the Mad Titan.

And so he looked at the job he was supposed to do, well what Maw was supposed to do, but anyway...

He looked over the status of supplies, and the number of battleships that have already arrived and that have yet to arrive.

His gaze then fell on screen containing details of the planet that they were going to conquer. From the details of the lanes of their capital to village, there was all the information Maw would need to form a strategy to conquer the species.

And there were already files present containing strategies to demolish their defense and absolutely wipe their armies from the realm of the living. These files were made by Maw, so Jerry already knew their content.

'Thanks, Maw for already making these files for me, you've already done the 80% of the work.'

Just then another file piqued Jerry's interest, but it was a discarded file on which Jerry's eyes fell upon. It comprised the culture, the way of living, and the nature of the general populace of the race Thanos was going to perform genocide upon.

Maw had discarded them and didn't read them at all. They were irrelevant, the purpose wasn't to rule, it was to slaughter half of the population, after all.

Just to pay respect to the doomed civilization he decided to take a brief look at the file. Read their culture and honor them.

But his face turned sour.

'I guess, they might deserve the genocide next week.'

Author's note: It's good to know that Gamora really isn't that much favored. And just so you all know, Silk is an already confirmed harem member.
