7 Chapter 7: Slaughter in the Dark

In the dim light emitted by a cellphone, a body lay sprawled on the ground before a blond man.

The body was slightly overweight, dressed in a gray suit, lying face-up on the ground.

Blood soaked the neck area, and a horrifying wound extended from the neck to the chest.

Blood flowed from the wound, pooling on the ground and clotting into a thick black substance on the clothes.

The wound resembled that of a wild animal attack, with muscles exposed and a faintly yellow fat tissue emitting a nauseating scent of blood.

"Damn it!"

Staring at the body on the ground, the blond man recoiled in horror.

He couldn't believe his boss would die so gruesomely.

The short man standing beside him quickly helped him up.

"What's wrong?"

"Damn it, get out of here! The boss is dead!"

In extreme panic, he couldn't explain to his close friend and immediately ran away with trembling legs.

Although the short man didn't understand what was happening, upon hearing that their boss was dead, he too fell into panic and followed the blond man running outside.

"Bang!"

A dull sound echoed in the darkness.

Accompanied by the whistling wind and a nauseating stench.

The blond man gasped heavily, raising his cellphone as he heard the sound.

As the light flashed on his phone, a dark figure suddenly pounced towards him.

Instinctively, he raised his arm to block.

But his arm immediately felt excruciating pain!

It seemed like sharp claws had pierced his muscles.

"Damn! Damn! Shit!"

Screaming in agony, he swung the cellphone in his hand towards the attacker.

But before he could hit the assailant, his throat was pierced.

Suffocation and intense pain immediately engulfed him!

A void of black consciousness surged into his eyes, exhaustion washing over his entire body.

"Thud!"

The blond man quickly lost consciousness and collapsed to the ground.

Next to him, the short man, still unaware of what had happened.

Soon, he followed the blond man's fate, his windpipe torn apart, and blood-soaked, falling to the ground.

On the other side, Peter, who had hidden in the darkness, calmly watched as the two were killed.

Witnessing the gruesome deaths of the two, his expression remained unchanged, only observing the perpetrator.

The one who tore apart the throats of the blond man and the short man was not human.

With brown fur and terrifying eyes, the gray wolf easily tore open the throats of the two thugs.

Ordinary gray wolves weigh only fifty or sixty kilograms and stand no more than one meter tall.

But this gray wolf was massive, resembling a bear in size.

Emitting a chilling aura, its eyes overflowed with ferocity.

Peter watched the clearly abnormal beast, pondering.

Why would such a creature exist in the city?

A werewolf, or a mutated animal?

After tearing apart the throats of the two thugs, the gray wolf stood still, its eyes glowing red, scanning the surroundings.

It had vaguely sensed the unrest in the air.

It seemed that there was another hunter present.

And the level of that predator seemed to be higher than its own.

With intelligence, it realized the danger lurking in the darkness and slowly retreated.

It needed to lurk, to act under favorable hunting conditions.

However, before it could retreat far, there was a disturbance in the shadow, followed by a wave of air.

"Bang!"

A black silhouette streaked through the air, and then the gray wolf's chest was heavily hit, sending it flying.

The gray wolf, landing on the ground, exhibited astonishing strength.

As it rose from the ground, it charged towards the assailant.

The gray wolf moved with lightning speed, far surpassing an ordinary gray wolf.

Ordinary humans encountering such a creature would likely have no chance of survival.

"Thud!"

The floor trembled slightly as Peter faced the wolf's attack, raising his arm to block.

In the next moment, a tremendous force surged into his body.

This gray wolf's strength was greater than he had imagined!

With a slight furrow of his brow, Peter retreated.

A black horny layer formed on the attacked part of his arm.

Similar to the exoskeleton of a xenomorph, it blocked the gray wolf's claw attack.

The formation of this horny layer, or exoskeleton, occurred naturally in the moment of attack, without any conscious thought in Peter's mind.

This exoskeleton, more like that of a half-human, half-xenomorph, evolved during combat.

Peter, with his dark and glossy arm, resisted the wolf's attack. Afterward, without pausing to ponder the reason, he swiftly used his agility to grab the wolf's throat.

As the wolf dodged, he flexed his elbow, changing the angle to strike at the wolf's heart.

The hard and razor-sharp black horny layer enveloped his arm, instantly piercing the wolf's skin and penetrating its heart.

Blood spurted out immediately!

"Spurt!"

As Peter expressionlessly withdrew his hand from the wolf's heart, the lifeless eyes of the gray wolf gradually dimmed.

Finally, it fell heavily to the ground.

Looking down at the lifeless wolf, Peter shook off the blood from his hand.

Just as he was about to inspect what breed of wolf it was, an unexpected change occurred.

The wolf lying on the ground shed its fur, claws disappeared, gradually transforming into a human form.

In the blink of an eye, it turned into a boy.

Gazing at the boy lying on the ground with a pierced heart, Peter stood still.

This boy was the transformation of the gray wolf?

What is this?

A werewolf?

Although he knew that this world harbored strange species like vampires, witnessing a werewolf, Peter's heart was still filled with shock.

After a while, he averted his gaze, his expression returning to the previous calmness.

Forget it, it has nothing to do with me anyway.

With no guilt for his actions, he walked towards the safe in the room.

Even with such a big upheaval happening now, he didn't forget his initial goal.

Raising his arm, Peter looked at the black horny layer formed on his surface, shaking his head before punching open the metal door of the safe.

Inside the safe lay a stack of US dollars, roughly around five hundred thousand.

The top layer contained bags filled with white powder.

Without needing to look, he knew what was inside.

At the bottom of the safe lay a folder.

Peter casually took out the folder and began to flip through it.

Soon, his brows furrowed.

"Beast?"

Putting down the folder, Peter glanced at the "gray wolf" lying on the ground.

He roughly understood what the other party was, and what had happened here.
