58 Chapter 58: Matt's Life Classroom

Upon hearing her name called out, Gwen was momentarily stunned, her heart churning with waves of shock.

How did this person know her identity? She was wearing a mask!

"What? Don't believe you can still recognize me with my mask on, Miss Gwen?" Matt took a step forward, addressing Gwen. "Although I'm blind, I can still see some things."

"Ever since the incident at Midtown High, I've been keeping an eye on Miss Gwen," he continued in a casual tone. "Being able to take down that spider monster indicates that Miss Gwen, you're not an ordinary person. Your actions towards Miss Black Cat just now surprised me, and when I called Gwen Stacey tonight, and you showed up here."

He explained the reasons he recognized her, "You were also present at the Metro Line 7 accident, these are not coincidences, you always seem different from others."

His eyes sparkled with a playful gaze. "Now, standing in front of me, besides Miss Gwen, I can't think of anyone else."

This was Gwen's first time being recognized while wearing a mask, leaving her somewhat disheartened.

But she quickly adjusted her emotions and directly asked, "What do you want?"

"Don't misunderstand, I have no malicious intent, I just want to help you," Matt said, assuring her he wasn't a villain. "You may not know what you're capable of, but I can help you."

"Help me with what?"

"Many things, including how to restore your father to normalcy."

Matt spoke earnestly, "Doctors are powerless against your father's illness, right? But I can solve everything."

Gwen's breathing unintentionally intensified upon hearing that he could treat her father's illness.

Before Gwen could respond, the woman referred to as "Black Cat" interjected, "Don't trust him, making deals with devil will only lead to eternal damnation."

Black Cat glanced at Matt and added, "He's not a good person."

Matt sighed and said, "Such naive women."

He looked at Gwen and adjusted his tie. "Child, with your rich experiences, surely you don't see the world in black and white like poor Black Cat here?"

"You're always smooth-talking, but there's not a shred of truth in your words."

Black Cat stretched lazily. "I have no doubt you're behind the illness of the pajama girl's father."

Upon hearing Black Cat's accusation, a glint of coldness flashed in Matt's sunglasses.

"Do you know? Miss Black Cat, I detest cats."

He turned to Black Cat. "Because they carry parasites."

"They usually hide in cat feces and can be transmitted through contact. Even raw meat, sometimes even when cooked, they can still survive."

"These parasites can disrupt dopamine levels in the host, altering brain chemistry."

"Some speculate these parasites are the main pathogenic factor of 'Cat Lady Syndrome' because they constantly stimulate the brain, making the host's mind increasingly paranoid and eccentric. It is even said that there is a connection between these parasites and schizophrenia."

As Matt spoke, he approached Black Cat.

"And you, Miss Black Cat, you suffer from Cat Lady Syndrome, and the specific symptom is: you can't let go of the past and choose to torment yourself incessantly."

Black Cat's gaze turned sharp, piercing like a sword towards Matt.

"You think your father's death is related to me, so you keep bothering me. The USB drive you're holding right now, you think it contains evidence of my crimes, but no, it's just ordinary data."

Matt feigned great regret. "Last time you stole the mayor's belt in his office, it was just to lure me out, right?"

"I understand you very well."

He pushed his red sunglasses. "You've lost your father, you think I deprived you of your childhood innocence, and every night you go to sleep hating me, you kids."

He sighed, addressing Black Cat, "Always seeking blood for blood, only when the motive diminishes will such things decrease, don't you all know that?"

Gwen, listening to Matt's words, felt somewhat dazed.

She glanced at Black Cat beside her.

So, was this guy responsible for killing her father?

That meant...

Gwen suddenly realized something unpleasant.

If Black Cat's father was killed by this guy, would he treat her father the same way?

Did this bastard poison her own father?!

Gwen shot an angry look at Matt.

Black Cat's anger, provoked by Matt, also surged. This devil always spoke in a way that made it impossible for her to stay calm.

"You will pay with your life today, Murdoch."

"Oh? I don't think so."

Matt shook his head at Black Cat. "I believe my death won't be controlled by anyone else."

"I never know what comes after the end, but when that moment finally arrives, I will not hesitate to end myself in any way possible. There are thousands of ways to die in this world: knife, gun, drugs, fire, car accident, cliff diving, drowning, provoking gangs. I can even pick up a stone by the roadside and eat it. But all these things are in my hands."

Black Cat sneered, "You even have your own philosophy of life, but what are you trying to do now? Want to discuss your views on death with me? Spare me, listening to you talk just makes me sick."

Matt stared at her and shook his head. "Of course not. I just want to discuss your views on life. You and I are actually the same kind of people."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"We are both survivors, doing things we have to do every day, but more importantly, we enjoy it. You're a devil, and I'm a devil too, and we don't mind being devils. Of course, I mind it even less."

"You're still pretending to be unjustly treated, abused, playing the victim, like a spoiled miss, as if the whole world is against you. Then, dramatically pressing your hand against your forehead and saying, 'I live in hatred!'"

Black Cat didn't let him finish and rushed forward.

Her movements were agile and swift, but the ninja standing behind Matt immediately stopped her.

"Now, let's make a deal, Miss Gwen."

Matt turned his gaze to Gwen. "You kill Black Cat, and your father will be safe. How about this deal?"

Upon hearing his words, Gwen was stunned.
