CHAPTER - 6 { Rising Tide? }

"Ouu! It hurts!"

The woman cried out to Creed as he pressed her on the wall. Her hands behind her back, held by him, caused some pain.

"Your name?"

Creed looked down on the woman's bag that had fallen on the ground, the pepper spray, all the cards, money and her driving license was scattered near it.

He read her name on the driving license, Mary Sue Poots. It wasn't particularly good or bad, kind of a funny name.

"My name is Mary Sue Poots. I am an independent woman of the 21st century."

Mary said in a hurry, she was nervous that if she was slow he would hurt her further. Which she wasn't wrong about.

Creed released her and stepped back. Picking up her bag, he searched through it and found nothing out of common.

"What do you want from me?"

Creed spoke in a very serious tone. His dark eyes stared at Mary, reading every single muscle movement to tell whether she was lying or not.

Hitmen sometimes need to gather information from their targets or any other person, so they learn to read body language.

Creed had perfected the study of observing human expression and body movements that he could even tell if one was going to move to left or right.

Unfortunately it wasn't much help in case of the masked man he faced in his last mission. That man remained emotionless from the start to end.

His movements all were fluent and swift, he was also very quick and powerful. Anyways, past was past.

Mary gave an awkward smile to Creed. It looked as if she didn't prepare the next lines.

Creed noticed something strange, his senses were telling him that there was someone spying on him. And this woman in front of him was just a distraction.

"Haha,... I think you forgot me! I am Clara, we were in high school together. You remember?"

Mary forced a smile, and said. Her eyes slightly moved and focused behind him, watching someone.

It was a very small eye movement that no one could see but not Creed.

Sighing, Creed tightened his hand into a strong blade like shape and struck Mary on the side of her neck, barely enough to not hurt her.

Immediately, her eyes saw the world around her turn dark and black. Her body fell on the ground motionless.

* * *

Mary felt a sharp pain in her neck. Her eyes slowly opened and she was greeted by the very familiar dark room.

Her hands and legs were tied by the infamous duct tape, mostly used in kidnapping.

"Huh?"

Confused, she glanced around her. Before the four monitors on a large table with various devices, a fat man was pressing on the keyboard with sweat falling down from his face.

"Rick! What are you doing? Free me!"

Mary shouted in frustration, she couldn't tear the duct tape. The fat man, Rick, shifted his eyes on her then went back on to stare at the monitors.

"Rick! Did you not hear me!"

"Shut up for a second, Skye! I am busy! He will kill us if I don't do what I am told to do!"

Rick shouted back at her. Mary, or what the man called her, Skye, was shocked and surprised by what Rick said.

Tak! Tak!

Following the sound of footsteps, the door opened and Creed walked in the room with a bottle of soft drink in his hand.

"I-I am doing it quickly! Please don't hurt us!"

Rick, seeing Creed's figure, panicked and blurted out in fear. His fingers moved faster and pressed various keys on the keyboard connected to the monitors.

Skye was deeply stunned, the Rick she knew was never afraid of anyone in his life. What did the man do to him, that turned him into a little scared boy.

"Yes, you have to."

Creed said in a low voice. He then looked at Skye, making her tremble and shake in nervousness.

"Skye, your name right?"

"... Yes."

Skye looked down and raised her tied hands. Asking him to release her. From what was happening, she knew he could do more than just tie her with duct tape.

"Why me? What did you want from me?"

Creed crouched down before Skye and asked her with a calm voice. He appeared harmless with a smile on his face, but the truth was different.

"You work for S.H.I.E.L.D. so we thought we could get some intel from you."

"I work for whom?"

"... S.H.I.E.L.D."

Creed was puzzled, he stood up and went into thoughts. From his memories, S.H.I.E.L.D. was a very secret organization working in the shadows.

Even he didn't have much on it, just the words that they were very big and powerful. And they had a strong influence around the world.

"And why do you think I work 'for' S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

Skye felt that he was joking, clearly mocking them for being rash and stupid but his expression… she raised her eyebrow.

"You don't work for S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

"I don't even know what or who S.H.I.E.L.D. is."

Creed answered to Skye nonchalantly. Rick stopped and glared towards Skye remembering whose idea was to mess with the wrong guy.

Bam!

His face was slammed on the keyboard by Creed.

"Ahh!"

"Continue your work. Don't stop."

Creed found a chair and settled down on it. He took Skye's hacker phone, already opened by Rick, and scrolled through.

Messages, emails, pictures, files and others. There was one particular email, with the name Rising Tide.

"What is Rising Tide?"

He leaned back on the chair and asked Skye. She was quiet unlike Rick, who worked on the net to not get killed.

"I see."

Creed muttered. He stood up and walked to Rick, the latter shivered in fright sensing the presence.

"Ahhhrr!"

Before Creed could do anything, Rick started crying and poured tears like rain from his eyes. He was as ugly as one can imagine.

"Okay, I will tell you about Rising Tide. Please don't do anything to him."

"The Rising Tide, it is a conspiracy hacktivist group with members in every place on earth."

"We bring out the truth that people need to know about the governments, and other secret organizations like the S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Look, we thought you were working for S.H.I.E.L.D. so we went to get some spice from you but we were wrong. Sorry! Now can you please release me, it's hurting."

Skye explained and shared her apologies to Creed, expecting him to free her and forget about what happened.

"I will, once he finishes and gives me what I want."

Creed pointed his finger at the fat man Rick. Skye frowned but didn't express any further resistance to him.

The room went quiet, only the sound of keys pressing resonated.

An hour later, Rick finally completed what Creed wanted and gave him a huge memory card full of many intels, reports and secrets of many organizations.

After Creed left, Rick quickly cut the duct tape and freed Skye.

"Fuck man. What did you give him?"

"..."

Skye glared at Rick and asked again, this time in a much serious voice. Rick sighed and opened his mouth to answer her.

"... Everything."

"What? Everything of what?"

"Everything of what we have…"
