CHAPTER - 22 { Destruction of 2011 }

"Roarr!"

The huge monster in the middle of the road, roared out loudly. Around it, only destruction could be seen.

Dark green skin, spiky bones extending from the back, heavy body, humanoid shape, muscle packed, and ugly looking.

The monster was like an abomination due to the various genes fused together to get a certain outcome only to fail and birth it.

The military car drove before it and attacked with rocket launchers but the rockets were grabbed by the creature midair as it then exploded.

Creed saw not a single scratch on the creature's body as if the explosion was nothing to it.

"Someone! Help! Anyone!"

He heard a woman's shout for help. Looking around he saw a taxi flipped upside down on the sideway. Inside, a woman and a boy were still trapped.

The doors seemed to be jammed or stuck.

"Hey, hey! I am here!"

Creed hurried to the taxi and called out to the woman. From behind the glass, the woman waved her hands and asked for help.

"Get back! Away from the glass!"

"O-Okay."

The woman embraced the boy beside her and leaned away from the taxi's window.

Creed picked up a metal piece belonging to the very taxi, and used its sharp edge to crack the glass. After multiple hits, the glass finally cracked forming webs.

CRACK!

The glass shattered. He held out his hand to the woman and got her out of the taxi, then did the same for the boy.

"Thank you so much! Really thanks!"

"No, no! It's fine. You both need to get out of here. Now!"

The woman nodded her head worried, she held the boy and started running away from the danger. She did ask him to go together but Creed refused.

Looking at the people, injured, wounded, scared and frightened, he exhaled a deep breath.

Though he was a hitman, who killed for money. It didn't mean that he was a bad guy. In reality, he was just like a normal man, he would help if he could in most situations.

BOOM!

Something fell from the sky and crashed straight through the cement road. The blocks of cement cracked and reached Creed's feet.

Tremble!

Unknowingly, he had backed several steps away from whatever was in that hole. Fortunately, he did the right thing.

Boom!

A thick green hand rose up from the crack, then like the already present monster, another green one showed itself.

This one was slightly different, a little smaller and more human looking than the abomination. And it also had ragged pants on.

"The hell man?"

Creed muttered in frustration. He watched as this new one roared and gave a call to the other one. Then both started sprinting towards each other creating tremors.

As the two leaped up in the air and punched, the abomination with his size overtook the other one completely.

BOOM!

Burst of sound waves traveled to Creed's ears, causing a ringing and some pain.

Multiple helicopters flew above the road, every light focused on the battle between the two angry creatures.

"If they continue, they will destroy everything…"

Creed stared at the two monsters, his figure slowly getting swallowed by the black smoke and thin flames on the cars.

* * *

As the battle between the two monsters came to an end, the city had long suffered enough to leave a mark.

Creed stood on top of a building, and watched the smaller monster stomped the bigger one and roar loudly.

The military had arrived and surrounded these two monsters. For some reason, there was a woman walking forward trying to reach for that monster.

BOOM!

The monster pulled his strength and jumped up in the air. Then it started leaping from one building to another and vanished in the dark.

"All this destruction, yet it escaped."

He said in a disappointed tone towards the military. In his eyes, these monsters were only trouble.

Sighing, Creed turned and left.

* * *

The dust and smoke had covered the skies, flames and debris layered the roads.

Creed helped in rescuing the people trapped due to the collapses. He saw many dead bodies, smashed, ripped, entangled and squashed.

Blood water flowed down the drains.

"Grab my hand! Here!"

With a calming smile, Creed reached out his hand to the little girl trapped between two huge collapsed walls.

"Come! Take my hand!"

"Um."

Nodding her head, the little girl extended her hand and firmly clenched on his hand. Then he pulled her out of the tight space.

"Uncle, thank you."

"Haha. Don't worry. You will soon be with your family."

Creed hugged the little girl and picked her up off the ground. He looked around and found the rescue team. As he tried to hand the little girl over, she tightened her grip on his t-shirt.

"What happened?"

He asked. The little girl showed fear and tension in her eyes towards the rescue team, she didn't want to go with them.

"Listen. They are here to help. They will take you to your parents. Aren't you a brave girl? You didn't even cry when you were trapped there. You are strong. Go, go on."

"Mm."

After he had helped as many people as possible, he once again watched the burning roads, collapsed houses, etc.

There was a sense of pity in his heart. And a will, a will to be able to kill anything and anyone like that monster.

"These new beings that I have encountered so far, some I am not able to kill. It can't be that way in the future. I must find or make a weapon that can help me kill."

In his apartment, he took a shower to refresh himself. Then he prepared lunch before heading to sleep.

The appearance of the two green monsters and the destruction of Harlem was all over the news channels for days.

For now his neighborhood was at peace, no such incidents had happened yet, but for how long?

Stories and rumors spread like wildfire. All relating to one thing, Heroes and Villains.

Captain America and Iron Man, the two known superheroes. And there were also the two green monsters, people called them villains.

If so, why were they even fighting each other then? Questions were asked but no answers were given.

Creed wished that his wounds and injuries healed quicker so he could move on to his next mission. Find or create a weapon that could kill anything or anyone.

Unfortunately, this time he had to spend a lot of months resting and repairing his damaged suit.

One afternoon when he was walking out of a grocery store, he met with an unexpected individual.

"It's you!"

The woman was surprised, clapped her hands and then tried to hide the tears forming in her eyes. She was the one with the boy who he saved in Harlem.

"Hello. I hope you are doing fine."

Creed smiled at her in response. He looked at her and saw she was also carrying plastic bags filled with various items.

"My name is May. I really have to thank you properly for saving me and my nephew in that disaster. I-I can't explain how grateful I am."

"Hey, hey. Relax. It's nothing. I did what I had to."

May tried to calm down and nod her head. She wiped her tears and took in deep breaths before giving a smile to Creed.

"Please, you have to come for dinner. You really have to do this as well."

"Right. Dinner it is."

"Tonight. Let's exchange numbers, so I can text you the address."

"That works."

Creed pulled out his phone and exchanged numbers with May. Since she had to make preparations for the dinner, he didn't waste her time anymore.

"You will definitely love my cooking!"

In the distance, May turned back and commented causing Creed to laugh.

He doesn't even remember the last time he laughed. Or when he met a funny person like May.

'Am I missing something in my life? Friends? Family?...'
