9 Magneto

"Oh, right."

Zane suddenly realized and nodded, indicating that he understood. Magneto was utterly baffled; what on earth did you understand?

Zane cheerfully skipped over to the fallen bodyguards, took out paper and pen from their pockets, and wrote some words like "Stay here; no need to look for me." He also grabbed a handgun and returned to Magneto.

"Let's go; I've made it clear."

Magneto had a black line on his face but didn't refuse Zane, letting him tag along.

"Hey, cute little sister, tell big brother your name? How old are you this year?"

Zane noticed Magneto's daughter, who was looking at him with curiosity, her big eyes wide open. Unable to resist her cuteness he took the initiative to speak.

"I am Nina, and I just turned 8 today. Uncle, who are you?"

"Little Nina, I'm Zane, also, call me big brother."

Being called 'uncle' left Zane's face full of black lines; damn it, he's only 16 this year, even though he mentally feels close to 30.

"Oh, by the way, Nina, do you want some candy? I have delicious lollipops!"

Indeed, for children, especially little girls, lollipops are the best temptation. Nina was now happily sucking on a lollipop, her face showing a happy smile as she called Zane 'big brother.'

As for where the lollipops came from, hmph, isn't carrying lollipops a basic thing for a mature man?

Magneto watched his precious daughter gradually succumb to Zane's candy onslaught, resisting the urge to lift Zane up and give him a beating. He picked up his daughter, separating her from Zane.

Zane had a wicked smile on his face, he wanted to win over Nina right under Magneto's nose.

On the side, Magneto's wife watched this scene, unable to suppress a chuckle. She felt that Zane, who appeared young but exuded a mature and stable aura, was quite interesting. Her usually mature and stable husband seemed to undergo a complete transformation in Zane's presence, sparking strong curiosity in her..

However, she didn't proactively ask her husband about this young man and how she, along with Nina, had been resurrected. Eric hadn't taken the initiative to explain, and there must be a reason for that.

Perhaps it was because of this understanding wife that Magneto never completely turned to the dark side.

And so, Zane and the Magneto family gradually moved away, seemingly forgetting that there were several fully armed bodyguards lying on the ground.

The morning was already chilly, coupled with the dense moisture in the woods. Hopefully, they wouldn't catch a cold!

"Plop!"

A fresh bird dropping landed on the bodyguards' brand-new suits...

After returning to Magneto's residence, his wife efficiently packed some luggage. Following Magneto's arrangement, she left Poland. As for the destination, Zane didn't know, and Magneto wouldn't let Zane know. However, someone on the other side would surely take care of them.

Although this self-indepedent woman was married to a somewhat tsundere and chuunibyou individual, there was no denying that this guy had a charismatic personality, a natural leader.

After waving goodbye to little Nina, Zane and Magneto sat in the pickup truck in silence.

"Spill it. What do you really want to do?" Magneto said coldly. Now calm, he couldn't believe that Zane had resurrected his wife and daughter and two unborn children just for friendship and that vow. The reason was apparent; Zane hadn't gained any substantial benefits throughout.

"You plan to go back and kill all those who betrayed the steel mill."

Faced with Zane's inexplicable words, Magneto remained silent for a while.

"Yeah, you plan to stop me?"

"Hahaha, don't joke. What do they have to do with me? What benefit do I gain by stopping you?"

Magneto looked at Zane, who was laughing, with a cold feeling in his heart. If an adult said something indifferent to human life, it would be normal, but hearing such words from a young man like Zane was terrifying.

"Alright, alright. Since you insist on making a request, then I'll make two:

First, you must passively observe all my actions today. Even if someone wants to kill me, you should not intervene.

Second, you must keep everything about me confidential, especially the fact that I can resurrect others.

As long as you fulfill these two points, I consider the debt for saving your wife and children repaid. Of course, our friendship will still endure."

Zane had a faint smile on his lips, as if everything was under his control.

"Fine, I agree. And, thank you." Magneto fell silent for a moment, perhaps feeling that these two requests were too simple, so simple that he wondered if Zane had some other plot, even though the first request was a bit strange.

Upon hearing the thank you, Zane was momentarily stunned, then grinned at Magneto.

"You're welcome."

Perhaps the entire world didn't understand the inner struggles of Zane at this moment. Suddenly arriving in a strange and dangerous world, the possibility of meeting a bad end if he didn't become stronger was very high.

Zane was just an ordinary person. He couldn't do what other transmigrators did, casually accepting and then flaunting their abilities in a new world. His heart was currently filled with confusion about his future, and all of this required time for Zane to calm down.

That's why Zane wanted to seize every opportunity to become stronger. He needed to be strong enough to control his own future. Otherwise, why bother putting so much effort into completing missions? He could just lie at home, enjoying life as a second-generation rich kid. With the amount of money he had, he probably wouldn't be able to spend it all in his lifetime. He could buy luxury cars, mansions, and flirt with girls whenever he wanted. Wouldn't that be better?

The two sat in the moving car, and since the beginning of their conversation, neither of them had spoken a word.

Magneto couldn't help but recall everything that had happened since he encountered Zane. It felt like this short half-day was as long as half a year. He had experienced betrayal from coworkers, the death and resurrection of his wife and daughter, and the addition of a pair of twins. Because of him, his family had to leave their home and go into exile.

These events made even a resolute and strong individual like Magneto feel a wave of exhaustion. Suddenly, Eric was surprised to find that since Zane appeared, he had been in a passive position. The initiative had always been firmly in the hands of this young man.

Thinking about it, Magneto suddenly felt a somewhat ridiculous sense of gratitude for the vow he made to Zane.

He admitted that at this moment, he felt fear towards Zane, not towards the current Zane, but towards the Zane who would grow up in the future. Who knows how formidable Zane, with his current extraordinary mentality, political acumen, and abilities, would become in the future.

In Magneto's eyes, Zane would undoubtedly become a powerful figure in various senses. Now, he unknowingly regarded Zane as an equal, not just a child. The requests Zane made were also engraved in his heart.

In Magneto's contemplation and Zane's idleness, the pickup truck had unknowingly arrived at the entrance of the steel mill.

"Apocalypse, I'm here." Zane subconsciously clenched his fists in the car.

After secretly boosting his own morale, Zane followed Magneto out of the car and walked into the steel mill.

"Yesterday, you told the police what you thought happened. Do you want to know who I am? What my abilities are? What I will do? Now, I'm here."

"Henrik, I beg you, let us go."

"No, I'm not called Henrik. I'm called Magneto."
