61 Battle

Upon hearing Zane's disrespectful words, a hint of anger flashed in Bast's eyes. She directly gathered her divine power into her throat and roared in Zane's direction.

The air seemed to ripple as if blessed by Bast's empowered roar, but the roar primarily targeted the souls of all things. Some of the flowers and plants in the palace, affected by the shockwaves, seemed to lose their spirituality in an instant, becoming as lifeless as plastic decorations. Their souls were shattered!

Facing this roar, although Zane wasn't affected as severely as the plants, his soul still trembled violently, on the verge of fragmentation.

In reality, Zane stood there blankly, his mind utterly empty.

Goddess Bast witnessed this scene, a smirk appearing on her lips. She calmly licked her claws, then walked up to Zane, running her claws across his chest. It was as if slicing through air with no resistance; Zane bore no marks on his body.

In the next moment, the color drained from Zane's face, turning as pale as a corpse. His chest, which had been rising and falling, became still, and he collapsed to the ground like a log, kicking up a cloud of dust.

With Zane's death, the chains that had bound King T'Chaka automatically retracted into the treasury. Freed, T'Chaka immediately prostrated himself before the goddess Bast, paying homage to her with utmost reverence.

"Great goddess, please save my son!"

T'Chaka devoutly pleaded. In his heart, Goddess Bast was omnipotent and surely could revive his prince. However, faced with his hope, Bast shook her head.

"This person is already dead, I cannot save him."

Upon hearing Bast's reply, T'Chaka seemed to age significantly in an instant. Even his once proud posture seemed to slump. Suddenly, he seemed to remember something.

"Then, great goddess, may I see him in the land of our ancestors?" T'Chaka asked with a last glimmer of hope.

"No, he has not consumed the Heart-Shaped Grass and cannot return to the land of our ancestors after death."

The Black Panther Goddess Bast shook her head, mercilessly extinguishing T'Chaka's final hope. She was growing impatient with his inquiries.

"Alright, I'm leaving. Remember to rebuild Wakanda quickly."

"As you command, great goddess," T'Chaka replied, crestfallen.

After speaking, Bast was about to turn and return to the land of the ancestors to continue her slumber and absorb the faith of the Wakandan people. However, a familiar voice froze her in place.

"Oh, little kitty, the battle isn't over yet. Where are you going?"

Bast turned to see Zane casually waving his destroyed left hand at her.

"You????" Goddess Bast was utterly baffled.

"Alright, little kitty, I won't play with you anymore. It's been dragging on long enough."

With that, Zane activated the [Son of Death] skill, opening the soul space it inherently possessed and releasing the army of souls inside. Although Zane hadn't specifically targeted Wakandans during his rampage in Wakanda, the collateral damage had resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands, hence the sudden increase in the number of controlled undead.

However, the palace area was too small to accommodate too many undead, so they had to be released in batches.

Ever since Zane confirmed that Goddess Bast was a soul entity when she grabbed his left arm, he had known the best way to deal with her. The best way to deal with her was to unleash the skill [Son of Death] and pit soul against soul. However, Zane felt this was a good opportunity to hone himself, which is why he had been delaying until now.

Countless undead summoned by Zane rushed towards the prepared Goddess Bast. Among them were humans and lizard people, all with the same vacant gaze, expressionless faces, no breath, no roar, and even the process of advancement was silent, forming a strong contrast between the massive formation and the silent state.

If someone were to overlook the battlefield from above, they would surely be frightened by this eerie scene, possibly leaving a lifelong shadow on those with fragile hearts.

Zane used [Son of Death] so recklessly for the first time and was startled by the situation. Subconsciously, a sentence surfaced in his mind:

"Shadow soldiers borrowing the way, no grass grows!"

These undead seemed to carry a bone-deep chill. Zane, as their master, couldn't feel it, but frost had already begun to form on the palace walls. Moreover, this chill seemed to cause even greater harm to humans. King T'Chaka and Princess Shuri had already curled up, frozen.

If a cultivator saw this chill, they would surely exclaim: "Such heavy Yin energy!"

Bast also sensed the harm this chill could cause to the living. She looked back at T'Chaka and Shuri, who were huddled together for warmth. Although bound by an oath, she reluctantly but still allocated some divine power to envelop them, preventing them from freezing to death due to the chill.

While Bast was distracted protecting T'Chaka and Shuri, Zane's army of undead had silently arrived by her side. Bast instinctively erected a protective barrier again. Devoid of consciousness and only obeying commands, the undead relentlessly pounded on the transparent barrier with their fists, elbows, thighs, and even heads and teeth, as if disregarding their own lives. Even when their souls were scattered by the rebounding force from the barrier, they showed no sign of stopping.

At this moment, the protective barrier was different from before; instead of being invincible, it began to ripple. With each wave of relentless pounding from the undead, it trembled violently, giving the impression that it could shatter at any moment.

Seeing this, Bast had to continue exerting force on the barrier to maintain its stability. She also didn't idle, gathering the divine power within her and releasing a roar, shattering the countless souls in the palace.

"The same move, but it's useless against me~!"

As Zane spoke, dozens of undead formed a human wall in front of him, taking the brunt of the attack. At the same time, a continuous stream of undead continued to charge towards Bast.
