14 Chapter 14

The next day, Max went to Maria's house to see Carol. He knocked on the door and Carol opened it. She was wearing the same clothes she had worn yesterday. Max asked "Did you go to sleep without changing and are you just waking up?"

Carol replied "Well, I don't have any other clothes. This was the only pair that survived from my clothes from 10 years ago because someone gave away all my clothes."

Maria yelled from the kitchen "Because I thought you were dead."

Carol yelled back "You could've kept them in a box. They didn't take up much space."

Max then said to Carol "We can go shopping for clothes."

Carol said "No. You probably have some prank planned for today as well. I will just borrow Maria's clothes."

Maria yelled from the kitchen again "You are not touching my clothes. The last time I lent you clothes, you got grease all over them. You knew they were mine and you still worked on your car."

Max said "It won't take long. We can just pick up one pair for today and you can order more clothes online."

Carol said "Fine."

They then flew off to the nearest mall and landed in a hidden alley where no one could see them. They entered the mall and Carol was amazed by everything she saw.

She looked at all the shops, the attractions, the small rides for kids, the food court and the overall bright atmosphere of the mall.

Max said "I am not really good at fashion, so we can just look around and see what you like."

They then entered the first store they found and Carol started browsing through the clothes while Max waited patiently. She picked five clothes and tried them on.

She looked at herself in the mirror after trying each dress. She also asked Max how he liked them, and he said "Good" to all of them.

Carol laid out all the clothes in front of her and thought for a while. She said "No. We have to keep looking."

Max had heard people say that shopping with women was a nightmare, but he thought they were just exaggerating. Now that he was experiencing it, he realized they were telling the truth.

Carol went from one shop to another, trying on clothes, thinking for a while and saying "Not this one."

It was already afternoon and Max suggested they stop by the food court for some food. Max got a burger while Carol got a pizza.

While eating, Carol said "Sorry Max, I didn't think it would be this hard to make a decision. I liked some of them, but choosing just one pair from those dresses was too difficult."

Max facepalmed and said "Carol, the only reason I told you to take one pair was because I thought we could finish shopping quickly. Buy whatever you want. I have enough money from a deal I made."

Carol's face lit up and said "Really? Then I have a lot of clothes I didn't even try because they were too expensive. I have to go try them on."

They finished eating and this time, Max hoped she would hurry, but it took even longer since she went back to all the stores and tried on more clothes.

After spending the whole day at the mall, Max and Carol were ready to leave. It was already dark outside and they were both hungry. Max said "Now that you are done shopping, can we go have dinner? I am starving."

Carol, who had a satisfied smile on her face, said "Yes."

They then went to the nearby steakhouse and had a delicious dinner. Max then dropped off Carol at Maria's house and flew back home.

Carol entered Maria's house and Maria looked at the bags she was holding. She was shocked by the amount of clothes Carol had bought. Maria asked "Carol. How much did you spend?"

Carol replied "Around half a million dollars, I think."

Maria asked "Didn't you feel weird spending this much money when you are not the one paying?"

Carol replied "I obviously would've felt weird if anyone else was paying for them, but I didn't feel weird when he was paying it...strange...why didn't I feel weird?.....I don't like it even if you pay for my stuff.....it felt like how I would buy stuff for myself...."

Maria said "Ok. So, now he is more close to you than me?"

Carol replied."Maybe." and ran off to her room.

As for Max, since he didn't need sleep, he decided to move to his new villa he had bought yesterday. He made four clones to help him move and they started packing all the things into cardboard boxes.

While packing stuff, he noticed his wedding photo of Max with his wife Norma. He looked at it and felt a pang of nostalgia. He was no longer the Max who had married Norma, and even the original Max had moved on, but he still couldn't get rid of the photo.

Max said "Still having lingering feelings, huh."

Max then put all of Norma's stuff in a separate box and he decided not to get rid of them, but to not open them again. Max then finished packing and since he could fly, it didn't take long to move the boxes to his new house. He unpacked them and arranged all the things in his new home. The whole shifting process only took him two hours.

Max then went to sleep on his new huge king size bed. He then woke up the next day and went to Carol with a bag full of clothes. He knocked on the door and Carol opened it with an excited face.

Carol then noticed the bag on his shoulder and asked "Where are we going?"

Max replied "Don't know. I thought it would be cool to just roam the world and stop wherever we see some place interesting."

Carol said "That's a wonderful idea. Let me pack my clothes as well."

Carol runs to her room and starts packing. It didn't take long since her new clothes were already neatly folded.

She comes down the stairs with the bag, and they then take off on their world tour. Max had already contacted S.H.I.E.L.D. and informed them that he would be roaming and that he needed clearance from the countries. He can't have aircraft from different countries after him when they are flying.

They fly to different countries and visit many tourist attractions and many secluded places yet to be explored by humans. They stayed in hotels at night instead of returning to their homes, and they covered a lot of places in three days. They visited famous monuments, saw various festivals, and tried out a lot of different cultures. 

They even roamed the forests, and Carol wrestled a gorilla while Max zapped a lion. 

During these three days, they had a lot of moments where they got close to each other, but no one took a step forward. There were many times when they were close to kissing each other but then shied away at the last moment. There were times both would change into their swimming suits to go swimming but instead just stare at each other.

They both had feelings for each other, and they knew how the other person felt, but neither of them would take a step forward. 

After three days, they return to Maria's home, and Carol is standing there with a suitcase full of souvenirs and dressed in a one-piece Chinese dress with a slit down near her legs, showing her long legs.

Carol says, "I had a blast. It was truly a great experience."

Max says, "I also had a blast. See you tomorrow."

He then flies off, and the next day, he comes to her home. Carol opened the door to him, and she had a smile on her face, but you could see the sadness in her eyes since it was her last day on Earth with Max before she had to leave to keep her promise.

Max was also the same. He also felt very sad that she was going away, and he knew from the movies that she wouldn't return for long.

Max says, "So, the last day, huh?"

Carol says, "Yeah."

Max says, "There isn't much to do, so I thought we could just watch movies at my place."

Carol says, "Sounds good."

They then arrive at Max's house, and Carol looks around the huge villa. She says in amazement, "Your house is amazing."

Max shows her around the huge villa, which had a swimming pool, a huge balcony, five bedrooms, two huge kitchens, and three huge living rooms with a fireplace.

Carol is blown away by the beautiful home. Max says, "We could've gone to the swimming pool, but it needs cleaning after I brought it from the owner."

The villa was way cheaper than any other villa with the same size and amenities. He got it for way cheaper since the cost of maintenance for the villa was a lot and the previous owner couldn't keep spending money on a place he would rarely visit.

Carol and Max are now sitting on the bed with 10 bags of popcorn and chips around them. Carol really liked the new flavors that came out during her time in outer space.

They then sit down and turn on the huge TV in front of them. In the Marvel universe, filled with genius people everywhere, they had TVs that were huge, thin, and had amazing clarity.

Max had a huge 100-inch TV, and with the remote in his hand, he asked Carol, "What do you want to watch?"

Carol looks at Max and says, "You already have the Pirates of the Caribbean open and ready to play. You are just asking me for name sake, right?"

Max smiles and says, "We can watch anything you want."

Carol says, "Just play the movie. I want to see the move series that managed to get you that excited in Disneyland."

Max clicks on play, and the movie starts. They are watching the movie, and Max says in his head, 'Max. Today is your last chance. If you miss this, you might not get another good chance. Like Captain Jack Sparrow said, 'If you were waiting for the opportune moment, this is it.'. Come on, Max, do something.'

Max thinks for a while, and after mustering enough courage, he slowly gets his arm around her and slowly places it on her shoulder.

Carol notices this and slowly moves closer to Max. Max does the same, and they are both leaning against each other while watching the movie.

Neither of them do anything else, and they stay like that till the movie ends. After the movie ends, they sit in complete silence.

Both of them turn slowly to each other at the same time, and they both stare into each other's eyes without saying anything.

Max gets enough courage to start talking, "Carol, I... ever since... you really are..." but can't even form proper sentences.

Carol then immediately closes the distance between them and locks her lips with his. Max is shocked for a moment before they start kissing. 

Max slowly cups her cheeks while Carol wraps her arms around his neck, and they pull each other closer. 

Max and Carol kiss intensely, with Carol shifting and sitting on Max's lap. They pull each other into a tighter hug while kissing. Their hands are roaming and exploring each other's bodies.

After a while, they both end the kiss and stare into each other's eyes again. They didn't have to say anything to each other. They both knew how the other person was feeling.
