Intresting Foster

The space around Michael resembled the other dimension on his body, but there was no dimensional energy he could use here. It's as if the energy around the place was holding it on one piece.

The emptiness made Michael slightly irritated, if this place has nothing inside, then it's useless.

However as he threw the dimension another look, its emptiness reminded him of something.

"I could use this as a storage." He hit his palm with his fist as he exclaimed, his face didn't show such emotions though.

Because the dimension is inside his body, he could tell that he is the owner of these dimensional cracks in his body and only he could make use of them.

So as long as he could make objects enter this place, it would count as storage. The previous dimension filled with energy probably couldn't be used as a storage because his lack of access there. And even if he could access it, it was doubtful if any item can survive the storm of dimensional energy inside.

However the dimension in his mind is easily accessible for Michael, and the environment inside the dimension seems… environment-less. So in the end he decided to use it as a storage.

3 year later. Year 2009, 7th of October.

On this day, the house mother made sure every kid in the orphanage was cleaned and well dressed and that everyone has manners.

"Let me show you the way Mr. Goodman." The house mother cleared the way as she entered inside the room full of children.

Following her words, two people walked in. One of them was a middle-aged man, he had gray hair with random strikes of white sliced back until they reached his nape. His expression was solemn as he looked at the kids before him. While the other person was a woman which seemed similarly aged as the man next to her. She had blonde hair and striking blue eyes, she was wearing luxurious furred clothes.

"Puff! Are you sure we can find a good kid in such a poor orphanage dear?" The blond woman asked as she took a puff of her cigarette.

"I guess we'll see." Responded the man.

Clap! Clap!

"Now children, these are Mr. Goodman and Mrs. Goodman, they are looking to adopt. Make sure to behave well." The house mother clapped her hands and gained the attention of every kid.

The house mother looked at Michael, who was sitting in the corner of the room. She already knew that Michael was better than most kids here. Not only has Michael never caused much trouble for her, but he was also a very intelligent kid, she had tested him on elementary and middle school knowledge at times and his results always shocked her.

Michael was also the cutest and most handsome looking kid too, so she knew that Michael had the most chance to be adopted by a rich family. Not only would this help Michael get adopted by rich people, she also might receive sponsorship if they're satisfied.

"I tell you this kids, if you manage to answer this question right, I'll adopt you. How about it." Mr. Goodman spoke.

"Ok" some kids cheered.

"I'll tell you a little story, and in the end I'm going to make a question." He sat down on a chair near him, meanwhile the blonde woman sits on his lap.

"I have a friend called Rick, he and I are buddies for 20 years. He supported me when I was in a tough spot, so when I made it big and got rich, I helped him get a job at one of my pharmacies. After three years later, I caught him stealing money from the cash desk. I confronted him about it, and it turned that his wife had recently gotten sick at that time and needed money for operation. I thought we were friends and could share our worries for eachother, but he didn't, for reasons unknown to me." Mr. Goodman shrugged as he heavily breathed as he finished the last sentence and then continued,

"So now the question is, what could I do? Should I forgive him and help him out, should I fire him or what?"

Some kids pondered, while some yelled instinctively.

"Now now, why don't you all take turns answering, let's start with Dereck here. Dereck, what do you think?" The house mother managed to keep everything under control.

Dereck was about 10 years old, he stood up and wore an innocent expression on his face as he spoke,

"I think you should help him out, he's your friend and friends cherish eachother."

Mr. Goodman looked at Dereck, but he didn't react much at all. The house mother noticed this and moved on. She noticed that the answer to this question was an open answer, this immediately eliminated the kids under the age of 10, but she still had hopes for Michael.

"Help him!"

"Help him!"

As house mother expected, most of the kids answered the same, which was helping poor ol' Rick and his wife. Some took the trouble to add an excuse on why so and some others just kept it simple.

In the end there were 3 Fifteen years old and Michael.

"I think Mr. Goodman should fire him on the spot."

Answering this was Scott, a tall and slightly plump boy who had a confident expression on his face and wore a smug smile as if he won the lottery.

For the first time, Mr. Goodman responded to an answer.

"Why so?" He had a glint on his eyes.

Scott still kept a confident expression and responded immediately,

"Because Mr. Goodman is not just his friend, but also superior, if he steals from you that means he breaks chain of command."

The glint on the man's eyes was no more.

"Helping Mr. Rick is bad for the short term. However you might have a loyal subordinate in the long term." This time it was a short dark haired boy who answered, while fixing the position of his glasses.

And the last remaining fifteen years old had the same answer as Scott.

In the end it was Michael's time to answer.

"Michael, what do you think?" The house mother had already realized that Mr. Goodman was not interested in any of the boys. Her last hope was on Michael.

The blonde woman had clearly noticed the favoritism of the house mother and smiled in amusement.

On the other end, Michael enjoyed the show before him. There were times where other people wanted to adopt him, but he acted like a spoiled brat in order to make them dislike him. Everytime this happened, the house mother scolded him to no end.

However this case was different. The question of the man before him amused him. He was also rich, so Michael could benefit from this.

Michael didn't stand up and and talked while sitting, unlike others before him.

"The answer depends on what type of business does Mr. Goodman do." Michael said.

"It-?" The house mother knew what Michael was going to say and tried to interrupt him, but the blonde woman spoke,

"What do you mean little sweety? Do continue."

Michael nodded and complied, "If your business is crime, I would say Fire little Ricky or even kill him to send a message. If your business is open and does charities around the world, you help him and make example of showing the good will and forgiveness of the human heart."

Mr. Goodman was extremely interested and continued to ask, "Tell me why would I fire him, or even go as far as kill him?"

Michael smiled at his question, "Just because you saw him then, doesn't mean it was first time he stole from you, but the first time you caught him, and judging by the story, his wife had only had recently gotten sick before you either fired him or had him killed. So he had more than two years before that, who knows how much he stole from you in that period of time."

After Michael finished his little theory, The pair of Goodmans were smiling as if they saw a gem in the middle of the desert. While the house mother and the other kids had their mouths open in shock. They never knew that the introverted Michael had such a sharp and dark mind.

Both Mr and Mrs. Goodman got up and looked at Michael.

"My name is Frank Goodman, may I ask your name?" The middle aged man had already forgotten what the house mother had called him.

Michael wasn't one to take things too personally, so he got up and introduced himself.

"My name is Michael Redrose."

As soon as he finished introducing, The blonde woman made her way to Michael and offered her hand.

"Well, Michael, I'm Marylin, would you like to have me as your mother?"

Michael looked at her hands and then her blue eyes before he spoke,

"I've got nothing else to do, so why not?" He smiled and then kissed her hands gently.
