1 Prologue 1

My name is Adrik Popov, it's Russian and means "Dark Priest". Pretty edgy if you ask me but cool too I guess. Right now I'm just minding my own business in a corner of my classroom. Why you ask? Because though I was born and raised here in Sokovia, not everyone exactly trusts someone with Russian parents when they suspect the KGB still exists despite it officially ceasing operations. Though I guess it's fair, it's only been two years and no one really would want to fuck with them, and at least I'm keeping true to my name in a sense.

Another thing about me, my parents call me a genius, though I don't know why, sure my thought process may be different than others my age, but I feel like it's only a sim-

"Ehem."I hear someone clearing their throat beside me, pulling me out my own daily thoughts. Looking over, I see a little red headed girl with a red plastic headband in a red dress giving her maximum cuteness, though it'll take more than cuteness for whatever she may want.

"Yeah?"I said with a questioning tone.

"My name is Wanda Maximoff, and I was wondering if you want to play with me and my brother."She said shyly, and looking around a bit I saw a little boy with black brownish hair waving, and thinking for a second I realize these are the new kids.

'Well it's probably my only shot at friends... I guess her cuteness is enough.'

"Sure."I said with a friendly smile, and as soon as I stand up she drags me off.

(Week Later)

Getting home with my mom, she suddenly asks me, "So who's that cute little girl you've been with so much?"

Startled by the sudden question, I stutter out my answer a bit nervously, "W-well she's my new friend, and I don't only play with her, I play with her brother too."

"So you ONLY, play with her and her brother?"She asked me teasingly while I could only sigh and agree.

"*Sigh* Yes, yes I do, now what's this about?"I asked tiredly,

"Oh nothing, just planning where your first date is gonna be, and when your wed-"

"MOM!"I yelled in annoyance while she only laughed amusement.

"Ah yes, yes, my little boy is too innocent for all that right now."She said while pinching my cheeks.

"How can I be innocent with these paper thin walls."I muttered after she let go.

"Oh? What did you say, Adrik?"She asked in a scary tone, and she only says my name when she's in a bad mood or about to be.

"N-nothing! Just talking to myself about how much of a good mom you are and what I should get you for your birthday!"I nervously spit out with a nervous smile to match my tone.

"Hmm, well for my birthday all I need is you and your and dad, but if you've got nothing else to say I was thinking about meeting her parents, having dinner between our family's, how about it?"She asked, but all I could think was "shit". After all we are Russian, it's the reason why the other kids parents tell their kids to avoid me. The only reason why the twins haven't avoided me is because I assumed that their family new to the community as a whole or else their parents would tell them to avoid me. I'm sure once we meet them Wanda and Pietro's parent's would tell them to avoid us, like all the other kids. I'd lose the only friends I have, th-

"Son, it's ok, I already know what you're thinking, but don't be so nervous, your dad works with their dad and they're good friends now anyway, I'm sure it'll be fine."She said while hugging me, pulling me out my thoughts.

"Yeah, you're right, thanks mom."I sometimes get too deep in my thoughts, I'm an over thinker, annoying sometimes but I deal with it."So what's this about dinner?"

(Next Day)

Right now both of our family's are in the living room, watching sit-coms, and they're pretty entertaining I guess.

"Come on, let's go play."Though of course Pietro wasn't of the same opinion, quickly finding it boring, honestly I wonder if he has ADHD or not.

"Wait, let's finish this episode."Wanda said, clearly captivated by these sit-coms, though I guess I understand, seeing the "American life" is pretty nice, it gives hope to get outta this place, though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't of the same opinion.

(3 Months)

"Wanda we've been over this already, I can be D'Artagnan or Athos, so it's up to you of who you want to be, and Pietro is too perfect for Aramis."I said with a headache.

"No I'm not! I don't wanna be part of this anyways!"Pietro said in protest.

"Exactly my point, *sigh*."I said, it's tiring being the mature one in our little group.

"*Hmph.*"And that was Wanda for "I'll be Athos". What she's going on about, or was, is The Three Musketeers. The movie came out last month, but luckily enough we were able to somehow find a copy, and we've all come to like the movie, but Pietro isn't exactly with the whole role-playing.

"Well my fellow Musketeers, we fight for King and Country! All for one and one for all!"I said getting in character, but breaking our perfect immersion, a laugh comes from my door, and low and behold, it's my mom.

"Oh sorry, sorry. I was just coming to say that dinner will be ready soon."My mom said, but the smirk couldn't be wiped from her face.

"Thanks mom, but please leave now, and close my door."I said annoyed.

"Oh how fast they grow, but don't worry you'll always be my little sunshine."She said with a smile, departing with those words. How ironic her pet name for me is when my first name is literally dark. Turning back to the twins, I see Wanda giving a genuine smile while Pietro gives a teasing one.

"Oh really? Fine then."And at the end of words I start wrestling with him, as the older brother figure I must assert my dominance.
