48 meeting the x men(Chapter 48)

After the flashes of images dissipated, Oliver took a deep breath, the salty sea air filling his lungs. Kate noticed his change in demeanor and inquired, "What's wrong?" Oliver glanced at her and replied, "We're about to have some company." His words earned a raised eyebrow from the Red Queen. "What type?" she inquired.

"The type with guns and suits," Oliver responded nonchalantly. Kate sighed, her frustration evident. "Can't I just have a nice quiet day on the beach?" she muttered rhetorically. They both rose to their feet, preparing for what was to come. "Where are they?" Kate asked, her eyes scanning the horizon.

Oliver stood up, the sand clinging to his boots as he moved. He retrieved his enhanced Magnum Stalwart, a weapon that increased his precision the moment he gripped it. Activating the Mystic Ammunition option, which granted him infinite ammo for the next 15 minutes, he prepared himself. Kate glanced at his choice of weapon, a hint of skepticism in her voice. "Really? I thought you'd go for something more...destructive than a pistol, don't you have something more destructive? These guys hunt mutants; they can pack a punch," she warned.

"I do have something destructive, but they aren't worth it," Oliver replied cryptically as they reached the other side of the island. There, they saw a black military boat washing ashore, its occupants undoubtedly armed and dangerous.

"Alright, let's do this. You get their attention, while I use that chance to catch them off guard," Kate said, determination in her voice. With that, she phased through the sandy beach, disappearing from sight as she used her powers.

Meanwhile, Oliver wasted no time. With the Mystic Ammunition enhancing his aim, he began firing at the approaching figures. His shots were precise, aimed specially at their heads. The men wore bulletproof armor, so his intent wasn't to kill but to draw their attention. Bullets flew in his direction, some even equipped with weapons that shot repulsors, but Oliver remained unfazed.

Activating the Shield option on his shell, Oliver braced himself as the shield shimmered into existence, deflecting the incoming fire. The night was alive with the crackling of gunfire and the whirring of advanced weaponry as 23 armored men closed in on Oliver, their suits gleaming in the moonlight. Bullets ricocheted off Oliver's shield as he maintained his position, drawing the attention of the assailants. Meanwhile, Katherine Pryde, known as Shadowcat, moved like a ghost among them, her powers of phasing allowing her to slip effortlessly through their defenses.

As the men advanced, their movements were precise and coordinated, each one aiming their repulser weapons at Oliver. They fired in unison, hoping to overwhelm him with sheer firepower. Oliver deflected the incoming blasts with his shield, the energy dispersing harmlessly around him. This distraction was exactly what Kate needed.

With a graceful leap, Kate phased through the sand beneath their feet, her form blending with the shadows as she emerged behind the nearest armored man. Without hesitation, she materialized her hand within his armor, disrupting the circuitry and rendering his repulser useless. The man stumbled, disoriented as Kate swiftly moved on to the next target.

Her movements were fluid and precise, a dance of shadows and steel. As another man turned to face her, she phased through his armor, causing him to stumble and lose his balance. Before he could recover, she delivered a series of quick strikes, hitting pressure points and disabling him with expert precision.

The men, now realizing the threat Kate posed, adjusted their tactics. They spread out, forming a defensive perimeter around Oliver. But Kate was undeterred. With a flicker of movement, she phased through one man's chest, causing him to drop his weapon in shock. Before he could react, she solidified her hand and disarmed him with a swift strike.

As the remaining men closed in, Kate moved with incredible speed and agility, weaving between their attacks with ease. She phased through their bullets and weapons, her form flickering in and out of existence. With each strike, she disrupted their armor, rendering it useless against her phased attacks.

One by one, the armored men fell before her, their suits no match for her skill and precision. She moved with deadly grace, her strikes calculated and efficient. With a final flourish, she phased through the last man's armor, leaving him defenseless and vulnerable.

As the dust settled and Oliver's shield deactivated, he surveyed the aftermath of the battle. The air was heavy with the scent of burnt metal and ozone from the discharged weapons. The moonlight glinted off the scattered pieces of broken armor, casting eerie shadows on the sandy beach.

"Well, what do you think?" Kate asked, her voice cutting through the tense silence. Oliver took a moment to gather his thoughts, considering his response carefully. He knew the importance of this moment, the weight of their success against the armored men.

"Impressive," Oliver finally replied, his eyes scanning the beach for any signs of movement. "But we have more company."

As if on cue, the sky darkened ominously, and distant thunder rumbled in the distance. Kate's expression shifted to one of anticipation, a smirk playing on her lips. "That would be my crew," she announced proudly.

Suddenly, lightning split the sky, illuminating the arrival of a massive metal platform that descended onto the shore before them. The platform carried a group of mutants, some familiar faces and others unknown to Oliver. Magneto, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, Storm, Bishop, Pyro, and Iceman emerged from the platform, their presence commanding.

The mutants wasted no time in greeting Kate, Storm being the first to envelop her in a tight embrace, followed by Emma Frost and Jean Grey. "You're alive!" Storm exclaimed with genuine relief, to which Kate responded, "Thanks to him," casting a meaningful glance at Oliver.

The attention of the mutants then shifted to Oliver, who stood somewhat awkwardly amidst their reunion. "This is—" Kate began, but Storm interrupted smoothly, "Oliver."

"Hey, Storm," Oliver greeted, only to be corrected by the mutant with a small smile. "It's Orora."

"Orora it is," Oliver conceded with a defeated chuckle.

Kate, sensing the curiosity in the air, asked, "You guys know each other?" Her surprise was palpable as Storm replied, "It's a long story," with a knowing smile.

"I bet it is," Kate added, his gaze shifting to Oliver's Nether region. There was an unspoken understanding between them, a shared knowledge that passed between their glances.
