55 meeting the Valkyrie(chapter 55)

previously on chapter 54

Oliver then decided to sleep, and he had a dream, but it wasnt the usual dream, rather, this dream was divided into two part, one part was him spending hundred days forging a metal bar, and the other part was him standing in the void of space, with a golden crown that had blue jem on his head with an expression that was devoid of any emotion, around him, there was no time, no space, nothing, just him.

Waking up, oliver decided with purpose. With a determined stride, he exited his shell home and arrived in the ice tundra outside. The frozen realm stretched before him, its icy landscape both daunting and familiar, as he set off on his quest for more powerful materials. "Alright, let's go monster hunting," Oliver declared before setting off.

[ 2 days later ]

In one of the 10 realms of Yggdrasil known as Jotunheim, a frozen tundra stretched out as far as the eye could see. Inside a cave nestled among the icy cliffs, a treasure trove of ore glinted in the dim light. Oliver stood within the cave, his figure illuminated by a faint bluish aura emanating from the pickaxe in his hand. Gripping the greish pickaxe firmly, he struck at the side of the wall where veins of ore protruded. This pickaxe was no ordinary tool; it was imbued with a pulsing blue energy, courtesy of its options.

Chapter 55

[ Name: Adamantium-Infused Pickaxe ]

[ Grade: Blue ]

[ Description: Crafted from melted deep iron ore and adorned with a nugget of adamantium, this pickaxe exudes strength and resilience. ]

[ Option 1: Ore Mastery - 50% chance of extracting a pure mineral from every hit on ore (Rank: E) (Passive) ]

[ Option 2: Refining Touch - 50% chance of producing a smelted refined bar from mined ore (Rank: E) (Passive) ]

[ Durability: 100% ]

Oliver had created this pickaxe just a couple of hours ago after discovering a rich deposit of iron ore, which he had purposely sought after his stock ran out. He was pleased with the investment, as this pickaxe saved him several steps, allowing him to immediately use the refined bar or even the pure metal itself for smelting. The reason for gathering iron ore was mostly for practice; he didn't use the metal ore itself but rather fashioned arrows from it. If successful, he stocked up arrows for his bow, which he had also crafted just half an hour ago. If he failed, well, then he failed.

Mining away for some time, Oliver eventually stopped as he had nearly depleted the ore deposit. Exiting the cave, he paused at the entrance. Something in the sky caught his eye, a growing shadow rapidly approaching. It wasn't just any shadow or dot in the sky, and Oliver sensed that immediately. He watched with curiosity and caution as something ablaze crashed against the mountain cave he had just been mining, sending debris and smoke swirling.

Among the scattered debris, a small pebble-sized object bounced off Oliver's head. As the dust settled, he saw what had fallen — a woman. "I don't like this," Oliver muttered to himself, immediately feeling a sense of unease. The woman had large, lush brown hair cascading down her shoulders, clad in medieval armor that glinted in the faint light. Bright blue eyes scanned her surroundings, and the striking yellow wings on her back made her presence otherworldly. In her hands, she wielded a mace and a spiked club chained together, both made of the same mysterious material that seemed almost like a construct.

"Is this... a Valkyrie?" Oliver pondered in confusion, recognizing the hero from the internet.

As the woman regained her senses, she glanced around, her eyes locking onto Oliver. He stood there, bare-chested with his short red hair, the pickaxe hanging over his shoulder. His expression was the same deadpan, devoid of emotion as always. The woman muttered to herself, "A human, in Jotunheim? No, he isn't a huma-" Her words were cut short as a distant roar echoed through the air.

Both of them turned their gaze upwards, only to witness an injured black dragon nosediving toward them. Initially surprised, Oliver's face broke into a wide grin. "I was just about to look for a dragon to get my hands on another dragon," he thought to himself as he swiftly withdrew his Marrow Devourer, ready for the impending challenge.

The black dragon descended upon them with a deafening roar, its massive wings creating gusts of wind that whipped through the icy tundra. Oliver stood his ground, his eyes fixed on the approaching beast. The Valkyrie beside him recovered from her initial shock, her expression shifting from surprise to determination. Without a word, she charged forward, her wings beating fiercely as she soared towards the dragon.

Oliver, in his hybrid form, gripped his Marrow Devourer tightly, its bone blade shimmering with an ethereal light. As the dragon swooped down, he met it head-on, leaping into the air with a powerful burst of strength. The dragon's jaws snapped shut just inches from Oliver's face, its razor-sharp teeth glinting in the sunlight. With lightning reflexes, Oliver twisted his body mid-air, narrowly avoiding the deadly bite. Landing on the dragon's neck, he plunged the Marrow Devourer deep into its scales, the blade sinking in with a sickening crunch.

The dragon roared in pain and fury, thrashing wildly to dislodge Oliver from its back. Oliver clung on tenaciously, using his enhanced strength to hold his ground. The Valkyrie, meanwhile, had reached the dragon's other flank. She swung her mace and spiked club with expert precision, each strike landing with a resounding impact. Sparks flew as her weapons clashed against the dragon's scales, leaving deep gouges in its armored hide.

The dragon's tail lashed out, aiming to knock Oliver off its back. Anticipating the move, Oliver ducked and rolled along the dragon's spine, narrowly avoiding the powerful strike. As he came up on the other side, he unleashed a flurry of strikes with the Marrow Devourer, carving deep into the dragon's flesh. Black blood sprayed into the air, mingling with the snow beneath their feet.

The Valkyrie continued her assault, her wings propelling her through the air with incredible speed. She danced around the dragon, her movements fluid and graceful despite the chaos of battle. With a powerful swing, she struck the dragon's hind leg, causing it to stumble and roar in agony. Seizing the opportunity, Oliver leaped onto its back once more, driving the Marrow Devourer into its spine with all his strength.

The dragon reared up, its wings beating furiously as it tried to shake off its attackers. Oliver clung on grimly, his muscles straining against the dragon's immense strength. With a roar of defiance, he summoned his symbiote suit, its tendrils wrapping around him protectively. The suit absorbed the dragon's energy, empowering Oliver with newfound strength.

Feeling the surge of power, Oliver unleashed a devastating flurry of blows with the Marrow Devourer, each strike hitting home with bone-crushing force. The dragon's scales cracked and splintered under the onslaught, its roars of pain echoing across the tundra. The Valkyrie, seeing an opening, soared towards the dragon's head, her weapons raised high.

With a mighty swing, she brought her mace down upon the dragon's skull, the impact sending shockwaves through its massive frame. The dragon staggered, its movements growing sluggish as blood flowed freely from its wounds. Oliver, sensing victory within reach, summoned all his strength for one final strike. With a primal roar, he drove the Marrow Devourer deep into the dragon's heart, the blade piercing through scales and flesh with a sickening squelch. The dragon let out a final, shuddering breath, its massive body collapsing to the ground with a thunderous crash. Silence descended upon the icy tundra, broken only by the sound of their ragged breathing. Oliver stood atop the fallen beast, his symbiote suit dissipating as he surveyed the scene before him. The Valkyrie landed gracefully beside him, her weapons still in hand.

Oliver and the Valkyrie exchanged a weary but victorious glance, a silent acknowledgment of their shared victory. As they caught their breath, the Valkyrie spoke, her voice ringing out across the tundra. "Thank you, stranger," she said, her eyes meeting Oliver's. oliver just nodded before looking at the corpses of the dragon as he said, "you dont mind if i take these do you?" he asked as she replied, "no, you are more than welcome to take it" she replied, in her weird asgardian accent, and oliver did so, he took everything that the dragon had on it, bones, organs, teeth, scales, blood, espesially blood, "i wonder what option that a dragon would get" he mused.
