63 Killing wolverines(chapter 63)

previously in chapter 62

Somewhere within the dead high mountains of Scotland, the sky was heavy with rain and thick fog, lending an eerie atmosphere to the scene. Blood stained the grassy ground, a grim testament to the recent battle that had unfolded. Standing amidst the aftermath was a figure clad in a familiar black version of Wolverine's costume. The usual bright yellow was replaced with a dark, ominous hue.

Scattered around were several severed limbs, each belonging to the same person. However, these dismembered limbs seemed to form multiple figures—up to three in total. Through the mist and rain, two figures emerged from the fog. One was the mutilated, mindless form of Wolverine himself, bleeding heavily and missing limbs. Despite his injuries and lack of eyes, the creature retained the formidable abilities of the real Wolverine.

Chapter 63

Facing off against this mutated Wolverine was Oliver, his own body showing signs of the brutal battle. Blood dripped from wounds inflicted by adamantium claws, his shirt torn and tattered. The reason Oliver was able to damage Wolverine's adamantium skeleton was thanks to the Anti-Metal Blade he wielded. With this blade, he could slice through the adamantium-infused skeletons, albeit not without cost. Oliver bore his own wounds.

While Oliver had numerous ways to dispatch these mindless Wolverines, he chose to test his own limits. His healing factor, though formidable, paled in comparison to Wolverine's. As the rain poured down, mixing with the blood-soaked ground, Oliver continued to engage the mindless creatures. With precise strikes from the Anti-Metal Blade, he reduced the group of Wolverines to liquid metal, which he then collected.

Meanwhile, in the ocean not far from where Oliver had just fought, a humanoid figure made of plants walked along the ocean seabed. Its massive bone skeleton head housed several figures inside—pods containing more Wolverine clones. Among these clones was of Beast, a former member of the X-Men. Some clones were observing the mindless Wolverines, while others were focused on wood-based computers, analyzing data.

The original Beast, distinguishable among the clones, was studying a monitor displaying information on Oliver. "An entire squad of Wolverines slaughtered," he mused to himself, his mind racing with thoughts. On another screen, detailed information on Oliver's abilities and past battles scrolled by. "Although that could be attributed to the Anti-Metal Sword on his hand, he also has a healing factor and is an expert combatant," Beast analyzed, deep in thought.

As he delved deeper into the information, Beast received a report from one of his clones. "But why is this Dreadshade hunting mutants, especially Wolverines?" he pondered aloud, his brow furrowing with concern. Memories of Kitty's rescue in exchange for a box of mysterium flashed through his mind. "The more I look into this, the more I realize there's more to Oliver than meets the eye," he muttered to himself, the mystery surrounding Oliver deepening with each revelation.

Before sighing to himself as he watched Oliver leave, "Hm, so he was after adamantium. I guess that explains why he was after Wolverine, and it looks like I provided him with plenty," he sighed at his own stupidity. "But nonetheless, I need to continue my work. Although some of the council and many of my kind would call what I am doing immoral, it's for the betterment of my people," he lamented, feeling the heavy burden of the sacrifices he was making for his kind.

Meanwhile, a banged-up Oliver could be seen, his wounds healing as he methodically melted the flesh from the mindless Wolverine's adamantium skeletons using acid. Each metallic piece dripped into a pool, creating a mountain of adamantium before him. It wasn't the end of it, though. Standing amidst the glinting mound, he wielded his adamantium-infused pickaxe, contemplating the bounty he had acquired.

"This was worth it," Oliver thought, deciding it was time to seek out Wolverine. His goal was to inquire if Wolverine knew of a place where adamantium was stored, or if he had any information on the origins of the adamantium skeletons. However, his plans took an unexpected turn when he stumbled upon a group of dark-costumed Wolverines. These mindless clones were ruthlessly slaughtering an anti-mutant group.

Seeing this unfold, Oliver's initial happiness quickly turned to apprehension. He realized the Wolverines were mindless, attacking anything in their path. In self-defense, Oliver engaged them in combat. With swift, calculated strikes, he dispatched the dark Wolverines, each strike earning him heaps of adamantium.

"Don't tell me I used all of my luck on this trip," Oliver sighed, his mind spinning with the unexpected turn of events. Using the options on his pickaxe, he efficiently turned the mountain of adamantium into refined bars and pure ore. This saved him from the laborious task of refining each piece by hand.

"Well, now that the adamantium shortage is dealt with, it's time to turn my ordinary metals into magical ones," Oliver mused aloud, his gaze shifting to a newly forged arrowhead. Crafted from iron ore and infused with dwarven techniques, it had been imbued with the elemental properties of fire. The process included the addition of powdered horn from a fire demon, transforming it into a magical flaming arrowhead.

Inspecting the arrowhead, Oliver nodded with satisfaction. "It's actually not bad," he muttered, impressed with the results of his magical crafting. Sliding his Moonforge over his shoulder, he surveyed the several iron bars he had refined perfectly with his pickaxe. "But this also introduces a new problem. I'm running out of demonic materials, especially the fire ones," he lamented, noting the dwindling supply of key ingredients.

Oliver still had other elemental agents, like the blood of the black dragon from which he had created armor, but demonic materials seemed to blend best with others. "Well, it has been a while since I hunted demons," he said with a slight grin, excitement brewing within him. Determined, he selected his demon-hunting gear—a newly upgraded oni mask, a stone ring emitting a high-intensity purple aura, and a blood-red sword with a dark crimson aura.

"Well, time to hunt some demons," Oliver declared with a newfound determination, the thrill of the hunt coursing through him as he prepared for the task ahead. Each piece of his gear resonated with power, ready for the challenges that awaited in the realm of demons.
