checking out the new and improved skills (chapter 20)

A/N items with options now have different colored hues, which indicates their grade, a blue grade item will have a blue hue coming out of them, which i don't know why i didn't do this before.

Chapter 20

Oliver stared at his status screen in disbelief, unable to comprehend the reality of his achievement. "Finally, after nearly three years of gruesome grinding, I've leveled up," he murmured, his voice filled with a mix of disbelief and excitement. His eyes shimmered with unshed tears, a testament to the emotional weight of this milestone. As he read the details on the screen, a surge of joy filled him, particularly at the upgrade to his option skill.

"Wow, they must've taken pity on me. Not only is the cooldown reduced to a fraction of what it was, but now I can grant two options," Oliver marveled at the newfound capabilities of his option skill. The excitement overshadowed his awareness of the new skill momentarily, but considering the grind of nearly three years, who could blame him?

Once the initial wave of excitement subsided, Oliver shifted his attention to the new skill. A smile played on his lips as he contemplated the possibilities. "Well, it looks like I'm going to re-option all my items," he declared, starting with his newly created Primal Fangblade.

Removing options from an item was a less intricate process than bestowing options upon it. Activating his mana and the skill caused the blue hue surrounding the optioned item to dissipate, leaving it restored to its original state. "Alright, let's see what an upgraded option skill can do," Oliver said, anticipation evident in his voice. The pain associated with giving items options still lingered, but he was determined to explore the full potential of his upgraded skill.

After the process was complete, a slightly sweat-drenched Oliver gazed at the Primal Fangblade, now glowing with intensified brilliance. "Too bad it's still painful to give items options," he commented with a hint of ruefulness.

[ Name: Primal Fangblade ]

[ Grade: Blue ]

[ Description: A relic of the prehistoric world, this dagger is a manifestation of ancient ferocity. Forged from the fearsome tooth of a sabre-toothed beast and wrapped in the resilient leather of a T-Rex, it resonates with primal power. ]

[ Option 1: Feral Dance - Initiates an ethereal dance of the sabre-tooth spirit, enhancing the wielder's speed and reflexes by +50% (Rank: E) (Active) ]

[ Option 2: Thunderstrike Roar - Channels the thunderous roar of a T-Rex, temporarily intimidating foes and reducing their attack potency by -55% (Rank: E) (Active) ]

[ Durability: 67% ]

Surveying the enhanced status of the fangblade, Oliver couldn't contain his excitement. "50% range!" The optioned-out item now boasted effects ranging from 50% to 55%, a significant improvement from the previous 10% to 15%. Thrilled by the possibilities, Oliver acknowledged, "Yeah, I'm going to be busy for a while." With the ability to option out or remove options from four items, his experience gain would accelerate, keeping him occupied with the myriad items awaiting his magical touch.

[ 3 weeks later ]

A large cave bathed in the warm glow of a flickering fire welcomed Oliver. The dancing flames cast shifting shadows, revealing the multitude of items scattered across the spacious room. These were Oliver's belongings, once neatly housed inside the shell that now radiated a purple hue. He had chosen to upgrade the shell, a decision that unraveled a revelation about the skills he possessed. "Granting an item that already had an F-ranked option would retain the option but receive a higher-grade one. Removing the original option would grant two new options, both E-grade. And I can now use the active skill twice instead of once a day," he realized, contemplating the newly upgraded shell.

[ Name: Yggdrasil's Enchanted Crab Shell ]

[ Grade: Purple ]

[ Description: A stunning blue hermit crab shell, toughened by the ages and touched by the ancient and wild magic of Yggdrasil. Though the magical traces have faded over time, a faint enchantment still lingers within, creating a unique and mystical aura. ]

[ Option 1: Enchanted Dwelling (Rank: E) (Passive) - This shell contains a magically spacious interior, equivalent to two regular-sized rooms. The interior is suitable for housing a living being, providing a secure and comfortable space. ]

[ Option 2: Celestial Ward (Rank: E) (Active) - Upon command, the shell emanates a protective barrier, creating a temporary shield around the user. The celestial ward offers enhanced defense against both physical and magical attacks for the next 30 minutes, 0/2 ]

[ Durability: 100% ]

"Even the options themselves are two times better than the original ones," Oliver mused, impressed by the enhanced capabilities of his shell home. The defensive potential against both physical and magical attacks left him satisfied. However, a cloud overshadowed his mood as he held the second item in his hand—the pocket watch that brought him to this enigmatic world. Unlike his other high-grade optioned items, the watch was enveloped in a black hue, signifying a new rank, one unfamiliar to Oliver.

Examining the skill descriptions, Oliver couldn't stifle a sigh.

[ Name: Chrono Nexus Relic ]

[ Grade: Black ]

[ Description: This enigmatic pocket watch, its history obscured by the mists of time, is crafted from alien materials with an origin lost to mortal comprehension. Once the possession of an immensely powerful being, the watch is now shattered and seemingly inert. Unbeknownst to ordinary eyes, this broken relic carries a latent, unpredictable power. ]

[ Option 1: Temporal Freeze - Activates the power to freeze time for the next 5 minutes, granting the wielder a brief respite in the flow of temporal currents (Rank: E) (Active) ]

[ Option 2: Quantum Echo - Unleashes a quantum echo, creating a duplicate of the wielder that can act independently; the duplicate lasts for 10 minutes (Rank: E) (Active) ]

[ Durability: 100% ]

"But what the hell is a powerful artifact like this one doing in a museum? Shouldn't Earth's sorcerers have confiscated it?" Oliver pondered, his curiosity tinged with concern. Turning his attention to the options of the Chrono Nexus Relic, he remarked, "On second thought, I'd rather keep it to myself." Despite the uncertainty surrounding the relic, its potential to freeze time and create a duplicate made it the most potent artifact in Oliver's possession.

Deciding to retreat into the shell, Oliver found himself in the familiar room, now expanded twofold. "Well, I was running out of space, so this is what I needed," he acknowledged. The next task involved moving his belongings back into the shell home, a process that consumed a considerable amount of time.

As he finally completed the task, a sense of satisfaction washed over him. "Well, this is nice," Oliver admitted, taking a moment to appreciate his newly improved home. The space was now more decorated, with a noticeable addition—a weapon rack. Arrayed upon it were several items, including a bone bow crafted from the spine of a medium-sized dinosaur, a sword hewn from the femur bone of a T-Rex, and a bone club adorned with an actual skull of a T-Rex. Oliver marveled at the audacity of using a T-Rex skull, though not from a fully grown one due to its weight. Surprisingly, Oliver hadn't manifested any draconic features, a detail he observed with mild curiosity. "Well, now I can try giving an option to a vial of dragon blood and see what options come out of it." However, he had alternative plans for the dragon blood, especially in the context of creating a unique weapon. All the displayed items on the weapon rack were optioned out, given by the blue hue coming out of them, adding to the arsenal of tools and weapons at Oliver's disposal.

A/N i am back again, with another chapter, i also forgot to create the new volume, so yeah, also he will use different weapons based on his situations, and sometimes he might not even use his strongest item, (which is my way of adding tension to the chapter or I hope so).

PS: this volume would consist of him collecting several different materials from different monsters, plants and artifacts, it would include a fight scene of him slaying a monster, and sometimes even teaming up with the savage avengers or Kazar, and of course meeting some of his friends.

PS: what do you guys thing about Illyana Rasputin aka magik.
