Residing within a void were two identical humanoid silhouettes with no physical features, the larger one, a blinding white that stood out in black background, and the other, a neon orange that acted like a small candle in the darkness.

"You can't be serious?"

He asked.

"Dead serious."

The white Entity said while looking down at the soul.

'Why me?'

He thought to himself.

'Why did I have to be part of a Higher Beings gamble? Why did I have to die and start a new life in a new world? But most importantly...'

"Why did you drag me here before I could wipe my ass?"

The once teenaged boy asked with a trembling voice. Hundreds of scenarios of his parents finding his dead body on the toilet played out in his head.

'That's so embarrassing!'

He wanted to vent his frustration and anger out on The Entity before him, and while he wasn't the smartest kid around, he wasn't the dumbest either. Actualising his inner thoughts would most likely end with him being tortured for eternity, or something like that.

While he had no doubts that The Entity could hear his inner thoughts, some level of respect needed to be shown. He didn't want to gain The Entity's ire by yelling at it.

"That's smart of you. Most who are in your situation don't watch their tongues."

The Entity, although he couldn't really tell, smiled at him while nodding its head.

"W-What... what happened to them?"

He anxiously asked.

"Do you really want to know?"

Thinking for a second, he just shook his head in denial. Whatever happened to those people, it was probably something beyond his comprehension or something very disturbing. Either way, he didn't want to find out.

"Good. Now as I said before, I participated in a game with my friends, each of us had to pick from a select number of people and guess how they would live their lives. The one with the most unaccomplished life would be sent to another world as a reward for not having much of a life. All in the hopes that they would, as you humans say, get a life."

The boy stood in silence. His featureless face as serene as possible, but inside...

'Mom was right, my unmotivation would be my undoing.'

He felt like his heart was ripped out his chest, beat up, thrown in a blender and then tossed aside as if it were trash. As you could probably tell, The Entity's words hurt.

They hurt a lot.

"Now, here's how this is going to go; you will keep your memories from birth until the moment I send you off, and I'll do it in such a way that you can remember every little detail, so time won't wash away your old memories."

With uncertainty written all over his face, he stared at The Entity with what he hoped was appreciation.

"Thanks, I guess?"

'Now I'm gonna remember this burn for the rest of my new life.'

The Entity seemed to smile, although it didn't have any discernable features.

"It's fine, I haven't had that much fun in a long time, it's a token of my gratitude."

'Well, I'm glad someone found joy in my life.'

"So what world am I going to?"

"Marvel."

A moment of silence elapsed before he opened his mouth.

"Any other worlds available?"

He asked, anxiety clearly in his voice.

There was no way that he could survive in that multiverse. He's not a genius like Stark, neither is he as fast as Pietro, or as strong as Hulk, he's just another normal human teenager. Might as well Thanos snap himself out of existence now.

"Nope, you either go to Marvel, or get dissolved by the void, your choice. Don't worry though, the Marvel multiverse you're going to is different and a seperate multiverse from the original Marvel."

The boy gave a long sigh before speaking up.

"Fine, but can I at least get powers or something?"

The Entity went into a thinking pose for a few seconds while looking as if he was seriously contemplating something. As he watched nervously, The Entity seemed to have come to a conclusion.

"Okay, you'll get a power!"

"Thank yo-"

"I already have a power in mind for you, in fact you know about it. I'll have to modify it a bit to suit the situation around your existence though, so you'll be able to identify it to its original but its origins will be vastly different."

He was a bit confused but shrugged it off. He knew hundreds of powers, there's no use in trying to guess what power he'll receive. He'll know when he gets it.

"Does that mean I'll be a Mutant or Inhuman?"

He slightly grimaced as he recalled all the unique abilities of the Mutants. The movies focused a lot on the more powerful Mutants, but they rarely mentioned the weaker Mutants. The events that Mutants went through also popped up in his head, he wasn't looking forward to the Mutant hunts and a potential doomsday.

"No, not at all. You'll be something... more."

The Entity said with a mischevious tone. He didn't like that at all.

"I'll take what I can get."

The Entity nodded as it waved its hand, forming a swirling platinum portal with shades of the rainbow mixed in.

"Enjoy your new life, I hope to see you soon."

Smiling wryly, the boy floated near the portal.

"Thanks for everything, although I wish you didn't curse me like that. It was... great knowing you."

As his foot crossed the threshold of the portal, he was interrupted.

"By the way, the Higher Beings of Marvel will know about your arrival, so the chances of you surviving is quite low."

With half his body already in the portal, he heard The Entity speak playfully. He quickly tried to pull himself out, but the portal seemed to be sucking him in.

"Basta-"

His curse was cut off as he was pulled through the portal. The boys body seemed to be shaking violently as it was tossed through what appeared to be a kaleidoscope, similar to how Strange's astral form was thrown through different dimensions.

He couldn't move at all, the force acting on his body was too strong to resist. Eventually, he started falling faster and his consciousness was fading.

'Oh shit! This isn't good!'

As he closed his eyes, his mind went blank. His consciousness was cut off for an indefinite amount of time.

~~~
When he awoke, the first thing he noticed was that he couldn't see or hear anything, the second thing he noticed was that he couldn't feel his arms and legs.
'What's happening?'
He still retained his sense of touch though, the ground beneath him, the force of gravity pulling him down, the slightest breeze brushing against him, the cold temperature above him and the slightly warmer ground beneath him.
'Why are my senses so dull? Where am I?'
As he was thinking, he felt something big crawl over him. Whatever it was, it had multiple legs and it was relatively light.
'An insec-'
His mind was suddenly flooded with a strong desire to eat it... and his body seemed to move on its own. Within a split second, the creature disappeared.
'What the fuck!'
His thoughts immediately cleared up and information washed over his mind as he received the entire history of the insect, a centipede to be exact, he just absorbed. There wasn't much since it was an insect, but he understand the centipedes life. He was currently inside a cave, but he wasn't sure where exactly.
What was interesting was the other piece of information he suddenly acquired. He somehow instinctively understand the genetic makeup of the centipede he just absorbed, information that biologists could only dream of learning. He now knew everything about this specific centipede, how they act, how the grow, how they live. He fully comprehend their DNA and how it all worked, it all just... connected.
But something else he gained from the centipede was what attracted his attention the most.
'What the hell am I?'
The last thing the centipede knew was a sort of fluid surrounding it before everything cut off.
'Am I a slime?'
He couldn't be sure, but that's the most likely situation.
'How do I move?'
Without a full understanding of what he was, he didn't even know where to start when it came to mobility.
'Do I... roll?'
As he started thinking of his nonexistent mobility he suddenly thought of the centipede.
'The least The Entity could have done was give me a small guide. I don't want to admit it, but being reborn as a centipede seems more entici-'
Suddenly, his body started changing. It happened too fast for him to react, but when he did, he felt his body was different.
His senses grew stronger and he felt that his body was no longer a liquid, it was solid and he had legs.
'Did I just turn into the...'
He stood still for second, thinking about his unexpected transformation. Whatever his power was, it gave him a slime-like physiology, anatomical knowledge of, the memories of and the capability to shapeshift into whatever he ate.
'That's... I see.'
Shrugging aside the realisation of what his new body was, he tried moving in hopes of getting used to his body.
'Hmm, this is surprisingly easy. I feel like I've been a centipede my whole life, probably because all the centipedes experiences have been assimilated into my own mind, it feels natural. I guess that should be expected of his power.'
An image of a certain man regenerating his body from a puddle of blood appeared in his mind.
'Now that I can move, let's find the source of this draft, maybe I'll find an exit.'
He started blindly crawling on the ground because even though his senses were stronger, it was still pitch black in the cave. His eyesight was poor, so he had to depend on his sense of touch and smell to navigate his surroundings.
While he couldn't exactly hear, he could still feel the air and the ground vibrate whenever there was noise. Sometimes, he could feel other insects around him.
It was an interesting experience for him, a human who has relied on his sight the majority of his life. If he didn't have the centipedes memories, he'd be freaking out.
'This reminds me of the time me and my family went camping...'
When he was a child, on the third day of their camping trip, he got lost in the nearby forest for quite some time until nightfall. Stumbling around in total darkness, tripping over tree roots, falling over ferns and walking into low hanging branches for minutes on end would cause anyone to collapse in a heap and cry from frustration.
'Not my proudest moment, but hey, at least that's how they found me.'
The looks of joy on his parents faces when they finally found him flashed through his head.
'I probably won't be able to see them again.'
If he could sigh, he would've, but it was anatomically impossible for him to do so. Instead, his entire body sagged, quite the peculiar sight.
As he was about to delve into another memory, he felt a lot of movement from above him, probably bats. Suddenly, he felt something large approaching him from above. Before he could even think of hiding, he was snatched by the creature and pulled along into the air for a joyride.
He squirmed around, trying to wiggle his way out the bats claws.
'Lemme go!'
He started wriggling even more ferociously until he was hit with an idea. Focusing a bit, he imagined his previous fluid-like body, and then he simply... willed his body to revert back to that state.
'It worked!'
As his liquid body slipped through the bats claws and gravity worked its magic, his body smacked into something else. Instead of splattering everywhere like any other liquid, his body managed to keep itself together.
Once again, he was punched in the guts with a strong desire to consume the bat he landed on. Not a second later, he felt a strong vibration from his landing pad, and instinctively, he knew the vibrations were signs of extreme pain.
'We're going down!'
Gravity acted on his body a second time as he and the bat took a few seconds before collision with the ground occurred. A few moments later, the bat was completely consumed and a bat sized blob of something took its place
'Bat B, took longer to eat than the centipede, must be because a bat is titanic in size compared to a small insect.'
He dived into Bat B's memories, experiencing its entire life in the process.
'I'm sorry Bat B, but if you're gonna blame anyone for your death, blame Bat A. He's the asshole who decided that I was easy picking.'
As he went through Bat B's memories, he saw something mind boggling. The more memories he saw, the more confused he became. Eventually, he finished the entirety of Bat B's memories, leaving him in silent contemplation.
'... Were there bats in the Jurassic Era? Because why else would there be dinosaurs walking around as if they owned the place. Wait, better question, why are there HUMANS in the Jurassic Era!?'
The bats memories didn't really mesh well with the knowledge from his past life. The thing with bats existing millions of years ago, he could barely accept it. But the fact that Homo sapiens, the Wise Men, were walking around confused the hell out of him.
He could only shake his mental head and chalk it up to Marvel shenanigans.
'Wakanda nonsense is this?'
To those who have already read it before, you'll notice obvious differences from the previous MC and the new one.
Firstly, the new MC will be more serious than the previous one. There will be jokes, but he won't be as laid back as the previous one.
Secondly, the Death's Host thing is scrapped. It sounded like a good idea at first, but I don't think it'll fit into the rewrite.
Thirdly, yes, the MC is a version of Alex Mercer. The details will be explained further on the story.
For those who think they know where our new MC is, let me know in the comments.
I hope you enjoyed the rewrite.
