18 The Owner of Kamar-Taj's Mages

Two months had passed since Fanny came to Kamar-Taj. Skye called him and told him that school was about to start.

Fanny had applied to the University of Columbia in New York before coming to Kamar-Taj. He was admitted without much issues with his outstanding grades, and now he had to follow up on the paperwork.

Besides, he had been away from home for two months, so his parents were deathly worried. Without Skye's help and continued communication, he would've returned long ago.

The rhythm of Kamar-Taj's life made Fanny reluctant to leave. Most importantly, he couldn't bear to part with his experience dummy. A month spent here gave him more experience than a year spent outside.

Fanny began to consider taking a break from studying for a year and studying magic here. However, Ancient One flatly rejected this idea.

"Fanny, don't forget what I said. Don't let power control you. You should go back and experience your own life. Kamar-Taj will welcome you back any time."

Fanny lowered his head and pondered. He realized that Ancient One was right. He had been working like crazy to increase his experience. Would he really abandon everything in his life to gain experience more efficiently?!

Fanny let out a light breath. The imminent danger made him want to rush and increase his strength, but he could not ignore the people around him right here and now.

Fanny felt his body lighten after thinking it through. If it could be represented as numerical data, his spiritual power probably went up by +1. Of course, it still won't be enough to open a portal.

One can only imagine how insane was Doctor Strange's magical talent!

"Thank you, Master!"

After thanking Ancient One, Fanny decided to go back to school. However, this did not mean that he had given up on gaining experience. There was a Sanctum right in the center of New York, so it wouldn't be hard to return to Kamar-Taj. Moreover, due to the time difference, it would be morning in Kamar-Taj while it's night in New York.

Most of Kamar-Taj's mages were reluctant to part with Fanny—mainly because they could not bear to part with the delicious Sumire Karaage Rolls. This includes Mordo, who had spent the most time with Fanny.

"Speaking of which, where did you learn this spell?"

Mordo had a complicated expression as he took a Sumire Karaage Roll that Fanny had skillfully summoned. The young man before him had little experience and not much talent, yet he was favored by their master and shrouded with mystery.

"This is an innate magic, the kind of skill that I was born with. It cannot be learned by others. I'm not bragging; even Master Ancient One can't learn it."

This wasn't the first time people had asked about 'Sumire Karaage Rolls.' If they were asking how to prepare it on their own, Fanny was more than willing to teach it, but there's no way to teach how to summon it from thin air.

Unlike 'Demon Armor Incursio,' which had a key artifact associated with it, 'Sumire Karaage Rolls' was simply unreasonable. Fanny had thought that it was useless at first, but it had become his greatest weapon in dealing with interpersonal relationships.

Within just two months, the entire denizens of Kamar-Taj had known the taste of Fanny's exclusive 'Sumire Karaage Rolls.' Even mages assigned to the Sanctum returned for several packages every day. It seemed that they would feel uncomfortable if they missed even a single day's "dose."

He almost became the owner of Kamar-Taj mages.

"I'll leave first, Senior. I may come back soon, but you can always come to find me in New York if you need anything."

Fanny said his farewell to Mordo in the courtyard. He couldn't open a portal on his own, so he would have to ask others to open one or go through the portal in the library.

"Goodbye. Remember your training."

Although they had only been together for two months, Mordo was a little reluctant to part with Fanny.

Perhaps it was because his arrival had changed the atmosphere of the serene and peaceful sacred ground!

Mordo watched Fanny leave with a smile on his face.

...

Although he was supposed to be traveling, Fanny did not bring anything with him when he came back.

He might return to Kamar-Taj in a few days, so he just left what belongings he had there. Skye already bought a bunch of things from the surrounding town as gifts, which saved him since he didn't want to buy so many useless things.

His parents felt a little strange when they saw Fanny return home alone. If not for the fact that two months had passed and his slightly tanned skin, they would've thought that Fanny had only gone out for a short walk.

"Why didn't you tell me in advance that you were back!" Although feeling a little awkward with the way Fanny came back, his mother still rushed over, concerned and complaining, "Nothing bad happened to you while traveling, right? Why didn't you come back with your sister? Your skin was tanned."

Fanny simply laughed. They ate dinner happily a while later. Just as they were about to go to rest, Skye pulled them to her room.

"How is it? Did you learn it after I left?" Skye asked impatiently the instant they entered her room.

Although they had seen many mages casting various spells at Kamar-Taj, those mages had all practiced for several years. She didn't care as much for them as she did for Fanny, who had studied and grown up together with her.

Fanny didn't say anything and simply summoned a Ring of Raggadorr in his right hand.

"You succeeded!?"

Skye had a complicated feeling. She was naturally happy that her brother had succeeded, but she also felt a sense of loss that she couldn't learn with him.

Noticing the expression on Skye's face, Fanny dispersed the spell and pointed his finger at her forehead. He comforted her, "Look, I just barely learned it. I don't have enough talent. I probably couldn't learn more than two spells in my life."

"Is your talent still not enough?" Skye's heart sunk. If Fanny doesn't have enough talent, then Skye might as well have no talent at all!

"Far from it!"

Fanny thought of Doctor Strange again. That person's talent was amazing, but he still needed a spiritual awakening before he could summon the Ring of Raggadorr.

For a moment, the two people in the room were in a bad mood.

However, Fanny immediately brought himself back up. He still had the system. He shouldn't have to fight mages in the future, and if he needed to, he could already handle most mages just by relying on 'Demon Armor Incursio.'

Looking at Skye's disappointed look, Fanny thought for a moment and said, "Hey, don't be too disappointed. Master told me that there might be other powers dwelling in your body. You just need to awaken that power instead."

Of course, Ancient One had never said this before. However, didn't his master also use it as an excuse? Just like the previous case of "Demon Armor Incursio," how many people other than the sour-faced Mordo would go to Ancient One to verify if it's actually a gift from her?

"Really?" Skye raised her head in surprise, then grabbed Fanny's arm and asked, "What kind of power is it? How do I awaken it?"

"Now is not the time." Fanny shook his head but added, after thinking for a while, "Maybe it has something to do with the vibration?"

"Huh?!"

This was not the first time Fanny had mentioned the ability to control vibration. He had said it a few times before, but Skye had never cared too much about it. She only understood it now.

"Why is it vibration!" Skye half-exclaimed, puzzled.

"How would I know?" Fanny rolled his eyes and complained in his heart.

You should ask the alien genes inside you!

"Anyway, you can think about it when you're free. It might be useful in the future." Fanny left the room with those final words, returning to rest in his own.
