chapter 69
Charmcaster P.O.V.
The man ran to me at a speed impossible for a human to reach. He easily covered the distance between us in a blink of an eye. Meanwhile his sword became coated in a blue hue and expanded up to 2 meters in length as he swung it at me.
He was not the only one that I had to worry about. The archer fired 5 magical arrows aimed at the area around her. He was trying to limit her movements. Behind the Asgardian, I could see the spear and ax users preparing themselves to overwhelm me if I managed to protect myself from the Sword and Bow users.
It was an efficient and practical battle formation that utilized all the advantages that every weapon provided. Their team synergy was excellent, likely due to many practical experiences.
A plan quickly formed in my head to come out victorious in this battle.
While I could face the Sword user head-on, it would leave me open for others to take advantage of. I needed to dodge his attack and so I did.
Moving sideways was not possible as it would put me directly in line of the Arrows. My whole body was strengthened as I cast a magic Strengthening Spell on myself.
I put force on my legs and did a large backflip that sent me into the air 3 meters back into the air.
From my position I could see the sword user widening his eyes as his sword hit nothing but air.
'I cannot lose more ground as it would put me in disadvantage.', I decided while still in mid-air. I aimed my staff at the sword user and a concentrated blast of mana was fired from it. It was defenseless as at this point, he cannot stop the momentum of his swing.
I did not focus on whether my attack managed to hit him or not as I summoned a circular platform below my feet in mid-air. I used the platform to propel myself toward my enemies to go on the offensive. As I propelled myself, I summoned 2 more copies of myself to even the playing field. Even though they were just illusions, they would still help me with dividing their attention. I could also switch places with any of my copies at will as long as they were a certain distance to me.
Sadly the Sword user was safe as the archer protected him by meeting the mana blast mid-air with 5 of his arrows.
First exchange was a draw and the second started. Me and my clones landed on the ground behind the sword user and rushed to meet the Axe and the spear user head on. We kept zigzagging as we ran making it harder for them to find the real one out.
The Axe user was 3 steps closer than the female warrior. He roared as he swung his ax at us. His ax glowed red and massive heat was released from its blade. One of us increased her speed and headed at him. She rotated her staff before raising it above her as she jumped in air after which she threw it at his face similarly to a spear throw. The Staff came to life and turned into a Poisonous snake like monster from her home world. It was gruesome.
Meanwhile, The other two separated left and right and went to attack the female warrior. She narrowed her eyes and took a step back to the right, narrowly dodging two mana blasts aimed at her.
She then noticed that even if she would have gotten hit by them, it would have done nothing to her. They were illusions. Since the ones attacking her were illusions, She subconsciously glanced at the front to find that the one that attacked the Axe user was also an illusion.
"If all of them are fake, then where is the real one?"she asked, looking in the eyes of the ax user who reached the same conclusion. By then it was too late.
*Thud*
As they turned around, they found the Archer lying unconscious by the feet of Charmcaster.
The Axe user rubbed his teeth in anger. She in fact did not just summon 2 clones. It was three. As she summoned them, She herself turned invisible and decided to take down the most annoying enemy first.
"Be careful Volstagg. She fights like Loki but unlike him who only knows illusion magic, She is capable of using many more branches of magic.", The female warrior warned the bearded warrior.
"Do you have no honor, Witch? Fight respectfully.", The giant man roared.

Hope could not help but laugh out loud leaving the man stunt at the bell like laughter. He did not notice before but not only was his opponent physically beautiful, she also had a beautiful voice.
"Honor? Fighting as a group of four against one single opponent and you talk about honor to me? I am a magician. Using my wits and spells to overpower anyone that stands before me is the way I fight. My magic is my weapon so why should I handicap myself by only using offensive types of magic?"Hope asked as she put one of her legs on the back of the unconscious Archer.
Volstagg had no comeback.
"Enough playing around. While illusion magic has its use, I do not specialize in it.", She raised her staff into the air and her eyes glowed white. She then slammed the staff into the ground sending a wave of mana underground.
"I am mainly a summoner.", Hope smirked as giant roots emerged from below the ground and trapped her opponents completely. Except for their faces, everything else was trapped completely. They struggled to no avail.
Hope calmly walked to them as the concrete and the soil rose on itself to form multiple golems.
"You should have surrendered when I asked you nicely.", She remarked as she reached before Lady Sif. She then raised her staff high and slowly all the asgardians felt their mana leaving their bodies and getting absorbed by the staff.
"Hmm.. Not bad.", Hope hummed in pleasure as she absorbed asgardian mana. It had a certain taste to it that made it different to the mana found on earth. It was more pure and rich. Still nothing in comparison to Ledgerdomain or the Mana that she once received from her lord.
Unlike the other mystic arts users in Kamar Taj that used different dimensional energies to manipulate and use magic, She directly Manipulated mana itself. She did not need to follow their rules and regulations as their magic systems were different.
They were normal humans and she was a different species. She had a mana pool and could access environmental mana unlike other magicians on earth. It gave her a massive advantage. She not only could use their school of magic, she could also use her own school of magic that she learned from her father and her uncle.

(Hello?) Came a reply from the smartphone. Jane took a sigh of relief.
"Serena. Oh thank god you picked up the call. I'm in serious trouble right now. Could you please help me?", She quickly spoke while staring at the fight taking place before her eyes. It looked like a scene right out of a VFX heavy game.
(Okay. Take a deep breath first and then slowly narrate to me what happened.) Jane followed her advice before starting to narrate everything that happened chronologically to her. There was no conflict of interest as technically speaking, she was her boss all things considered.
Jane tried to be as quick as she could be so did not mention minor details or any detailed breakthrough that she reached after talking with Thor.
(Okay. Now listen to me, Let them take what they want. Do not worry, I will see to it that your research returns to you as quickly as possible. Right now your and your co-workers safety should be most important.) Jane felt helpless but she nodded. She was right. Things had quickly gone out of her control since the agents arrived. It could not be denied that a few of them had been injured and the ones responsible for it had a certain association with her.

Charmcaster P.O.V.
Since the Asgardians had been taken care of, I turned my attention to the surroundings. The Shield Agents were looking at me with a gaze mixed with respect, fear and wariness.
"Why are you guys standing dumbfounded like that? Quickly take the unknown assaulters in our custody", I said, preparing a spell to repair all the destruction that happened as collateral damage in our fight.
"Yes Ma'am!!!", They were quick to their feet once ordered.
Just to be cautious, I also cast a spell to remove the memories of civilians that ended up witnessing the show. It was a very useful Area of Effect Spell. I could also specify people that I do not want to work on if I feed more mana to the spell.
"Excuse me, ma'am.", A female agent approached me from the side. Following behind her were 3 civilians which were surrounded by 5 more agents.
"Yes?", I asked, staring behind her at the civilians. I was careful about not removing their memories as I noticed from a while ago that there was a certain connection between them and the Asgardians from their expressions.
"These three are the scientists that we were tasked to retrieve data and equipment from but they were able to contact the targets before us. What would you like us to do with them?", The Agent asked in a professional tone.
"Take them in our custody for now. We can later decide on how to proceed depending on how cooperative they are." She nodded at the orders.
"Wait wait wait a second.", One of the Girls reacted as soon as i gave the order.
"You cannot just do that. On what grounds? We did not do any wrong. We did not break any law. We were just doing our research. First you take all of our data and instruments and now outright kidnap us. I would like to see my lawyer", She demanded in a panicked tone.
"Jane. Calm down. You are overreacting.", The elderly man patted her back with a worried tone.
"What grounds? Heh. Sure, You did not break any law but we have the right to question any witnesses. I think you still haven't realized how big this is. This incident could have world changing consequences. Plus, You will be more safe with us than roaming on the streets at this point." After I said that, She finally calmed down. I watched as they were escorted by the agents to a vehicle. I noticed that the other girl kept staring at me with weird eyes.

"Don't worry too much. We will be fine. You have already contacted Serena and I have also reached out to some of my contacts. They will probably release us after some questioning." Selvig stated as they sat down on the vehicle. He then glanced at Darcy that looked to be in serious thinking.
"What happened to you?", He asked.
"I just realized that I am not straight. I can't believe I got horny staring at that silver haired girl.", She said with hollowed eyes.

8 minutes later kar-el and Coulson arrived on the scene. Coulson talked with the agents to get a detailed report on what happened before meeting with the injured agents. While he was doing that, Kar-el approached Charmcaster.
"Good Job", He praised noticing that she did not get wounded at all. She nodded gratefully.
"How do you feel after fighting against Asgardians?", Kar-el asked her as he waited for Coulson to finish his work.
"They were powerful, yes but nothing compared to some of my opponents.", Hope honestly replied.
Kar-el nodded with a thoughtful expression.
"Asgardians are powerful beings from an average standpoint if you compare them with a majority of the races in the world but sadly for them, the outcome of the battle was already decided from the start.", He said staring at the sky.
"You are one of the best of your species in this generation. They were also unaware of your capabilities. It was expected for you to win but I am pleased with how gracefully you have dealt with them.", He said acknowledging her efforts.
"It might have been a hassle if Thor could join the battle though. All Asgardians are strong but some are much better and powerful than the rest by a long shot. There is still a lot of room for you to grow. I am sure with time you will get there.", He had high hopes for her. As the disciple of Sorceress supreme, She was bound to grow by leaps.
