60 Chapter 059 Williamsburg bridge

Chapter 059

In the evening, Alex was sighing while playing a fan made game based on Iron man on his system.

After his system was connected to his phone, he had learnt how nice it was to play a video game or watch a movie on a holographic screen.

He has been using it during the boring lectures to pass time and as he was the only one who can see his system, it was perfect.

His mother had scolded him for over an hour for staying the night outside before telling him to stay in his room for the whole day. It was not his fault but he can't really explain his hero's life to his mother.

Although he had blended with his new family quite well after being transmigrated, it was still hard to keep the balance of his two identities.

Something that heroes like Spiderman often dealt with in comics and movies.

The only solution to this problem was to come out as a hero at least to his family, but as Alex can't imagine how his parents were gonna take it, he was hesitant.

He could only opt for a temporary solution currently which was to move out as soon as he's 18.

That will give him a lot of time to do whatever he wants. Although it doesn't change the fact that it will be hard to maintain friendships or a relationship like this.

It was the main reason behind why Alex has tried to not get too many friends. His only friend was Peter who himself was a masked vigilante like him.

Though, he didn't know that Alex was the same as him.

'I wonder what will happen if my identity gets revealed?'

He thought of a question that he had been thinking about lately while playing his game.

The main reason he needed to hide his identity was obvious – his family. If it got revealed, then his family could be in trouble. He didn't want villains knocking on his door.

But at the same time, he knew he wouldn't be able to hide it all his life.

It was the age of the internet and alien technology.

Even while trying to hide his identity, people like Tony Stark or Shield can still know who he was easily. If they can, other powerful people can too.

That made him wonder if hiding his identity was really a viable option.

'If I join Shield, they will protect my family but I can't do that now as Hydra is hiding under Shield… Ah, fuck!'

As he was thinking that, his character on the holographic screen suddenly got killed by a blast from the drones. The screen changed to 'Game over' and Alex sighed.

He was about to restart his game when suddenly a notification flashed in the top corner of the screen. Alex clicked on it, wondering what it was.

[Breaking news! A big monster has been seen on the Williamsburg bridge. Police are on their way!]

"What the fuck?" He cursed, seeing the news. "The Lizard is finally here… I ain't getting a break soon!"

Alex shook off the holographic screen and tapped the holographic projector that he had bought to fool his parents. Even if he was grounded, he couldn't just sit when a giant lizard was destroying a bridge.

As a hologram of him sleeping appeared on his bed, Alex thought back to the story of Amazing Spiderman.

'Dr. Connors would go to the bridge to look for his superior but would transform into The Lizard mid way, losing control and attacking everyone. When Spiderman would arrive, he would run away to the sewers.'

Thinking back to the movie that he had watched with one of his ex girlfriends in the theatre, he donned his costume.

'My wolf is still in hibernation.'

Alex clicked in tongue as he felt the low energy of his wolf, but as he won't be fighting the Lizard directly today, it would be fine.

At that moment, his comm link rang and Peter's voice rang out.

– Hey! It's me, Spiderman! Remember the guy with webs! I need some help. You free?

"Yeah? Is it about the big monster that has appeared on the Williamsburg bridge?" Alex asked, not surprised by Peter asking for his help in this matter.

– You know about it?

"They are talking about it in the news."

– That's, that's good. So, yeah, meet you at the bridge then!

His voice got cut after that and Alex quickly left his house through his window, already gotten used to it.

On the Williamsburg bridge, Dr. Ratha was stuck in traffic with one of the shareholders of Oscorp, Anastasia Hardy.

She was a beautiful woman in her late 40s with black hair and a face that had trapped a lot of men in her youth. Besides her was her daughter, Felicia, who had a scowl on her face as they were stuck in traffic for a very long time.

"Traffic these days really takes a lot of time."

Anastasia remarked, looking back at the large line of cars behind theirs.

"Maybe something has happened." Dr. Ratha said, then looked at the driver. "Alfred, can you go see what is going on?"

The driver nodded and got out of the car.

After a while, there was a rumbling on the bridge as everything shook suddenly.

"What is happening? An earthquake?" Anastasia Hardy asked, startled by the rumbling.

"I don't know."

Dr. Ratha said and suddenly, his car was slammed into a corner by the other cars behind. He cursed, wondering what was going on.

"Mom, let's get out of here."

Felicia said as she saw people leaving their cars and running away. For a second, she thought it was because of the earthquake but she noticed fear in the eyes of the people running away.

They were running away from something. Something dangerous.

'Something doesn't feel right…'

She thought and suddenly, there was a screeching sound, like the cry of an animal. The car shook as something scratched against it.

Suddenly, a part of the car was thrown away as Felicia came face to face with a reptile-like monster.
