3 Chapter 003 Hero or villain

Chapter 003

As he ate lunch, Alex couldn't help but think that his mother was a great cook. She could easily open a restaurant and he could guarantee it would definitely work.

The butter chicken was so delicious that it had left Alex licking his fingers in the end.

Alex's mother, Avanti Krown was an Indian woman who had migrated to America after her marriage with his father, Arnold Krown, making Alex half Indian, but looking at him, no one would think that he was half Indian.

After all, he had taken after his father with only his eyes resembling his mother.

Alex didn't know if it was deliberate or not, but Arnold Krown worked in Stark Industry.

Although he didn't know much about his father's job there, he knew that it was at least a high paying job that ensured that his family didn't have any money problems.

On the other hand, his mother was a writer, albeit not a very popular one. Still, her actual talent lay in housework and cooking, which she seemed to enjoy too.

Overall, they were a really happy family.

'It's way better than my real family.'

Alex thought, thinking back to his life that now seemed like a distant dream.

He still hadn't come to terms with his situation, so it left a lot of conflicted feelings in his heart. He wondered if he could go back to his normal life, but he didn't see any way to do that.

At that moment, his mother's voice broke him out of his thoughts.

"Alex, if you have eaten your lunch, can you fix this hair dryer for me?"

"A dryer?"

He asked, glancing at the hair dryer in his mother's hand. He wasn't a mechanic? Why was she telling him to fix it up?

"Yeah, can you do that for me? I will give you extra pocket money for it." His mother said and put the dryer on the table before leaving in a hurry, not even glancing at Alex's confused expression.

'How to even fix a hair dryer now?'

Alex frowned as he looked at the broken dryer in front of him.

He stayed confused for a while before some memories made him aware of why his mother had told him to fix the dryer.

It turned out that the previous soul occupying this body was pretty smart. Not at the level of Peter Parker or Tony Stark, but he was skilled enough to fix household stuff like dryers and microwaves.

'Do I have a smart brain too now?'

He thought, thinking back to his average grades in his previous life.

It took him a minute before he realised that indeed, his brain was processing way faster than before. It was a weird feeling and it made him feel like he was using someone else's brain.

Well, that wasn't wrong either.

It took him almost an hour to fix the dryer. The motor was fried and it took a while for him to open it all up using a screwdriver and put it all back together.

Throughout that process, he realised that he was more special than before, even without superpowers.

His brain was enough for him to get a job in top companies and live a nice, rich life.

One that he had only dreamed of before.

'Even with the threat of alien attack and Thanos, I can live a better life than before. Avengers would handle Thanos in the end anyway. There's no need for me to risk my life.'

Alex thought as he ensured himself.

* * *

It was evening when Alex decided to take a look around his new neighborhood.

He was, after all, in Queens, New York.

It was the best place to live in the world and he had never been here before in his entire life.

He wanted to sightsee as if he was a tourist and although he couldn't go to the city since it was too late, he could still look around his neighborhood. (His mother had placed restrictions on him like a typical Indian parent).

Alex didn't like the restrictions much, but he knew better than to protest.

The previous soul had already tried several times and it was of no use against his mother who had the potential to be scarier than even Thanos.

He walked through the streets, taking in the evening air, glancing around as cars and people passed him.

He mainly followed the streets that he could remember from his memories. After all, he didn't want to get lost despite living here for more than a decade.

'There's a lot of places here to sightsee.'

Alex took out his phone and searched for places to see in New York. There were different types of museums, Central Park, Times Square and many other places that he would love to visit.

There were also buildings that didn't exist in his world like Stark Tower and Oscorp.

It was Sunday tomorrow and school would only start after that, so he had a little time to look around a bit tomorrow.

Alex made plans to see various places as he walked but suddenly, his eyes darted across the street as he saw a man with long hair and a mask running despite the red light.

The cars honked and one of them nearly collided with the man but there was no sign of him stopping.

'What's going on? That man...'

Alex took a breath as his instincts raged with a bad feeling.

He kept his eyes on the running man and saw him nearly falling down by colliding with the pedestrians. If he kept going, he would run straight into an old man..

"Wait! Isn't that... Uncle Ben!!"

He suddenly shouted as a scene from the Amazing Spiderman passed through his vision.

It was the scene in which Ben Parker has lost his life, making Peter realise his mistakes and become a superhero out of guilt.

Now, the same scene was happening in front of him.

'What should I do? Like this, he will lose his life.'

Alex gulped as his thoughts ran wild and time seemed to have stopped for him. In the next few seconds, Uncle Ben was gonna lose his life.

Was he just going to do nothing? If he just stood there, won't he just feel guilty all his life?

But even if he wanted to do something, the distance between them was too long for him to act.

He won't be able to even reach close to the masked man no matter what...

[Do you want to be a Hero or a Villain?]

At that moment, the prompt suddenly appeared in front of him like it was just waiting for this moment.

The moment where Alex has to decide his path!
