37 Chapter 37 - First day at the mansion

On the next day, Sara woke up early, bathed in the morning sun rays that invaded the room, illuminating the surroundings to the sound of birds, probably flying over the mansion or perched on nearby tree branches. Additionally, a bell echoed, signaling to Sara that it was used to wake up all the children in the mansion.

Checking the clock on the small desk next to the bed, Sara realized it was already eight in the morning. As usual, she moved sluggishly towards the bathroom, where she attended to her morning needs.

As always, Sara found it difficult to focus in the morning. While brushing her teeth, some tentacles were in the kitchen preparing a hearty breakfast for Sara. Prime, who hummed in Sara's mind, didn't need to sleep, so he had been practically vigilant all night.

"Why are you so excited?" Sara asked, her eyes still sleepy as she yawned.

In Sara's mind, Prime, upon hearing these words, didn't quite understand the reason. At best, there simply was no reason for him not to feel excited. In part, Prime was having fun being in a school with various people with powers. He saw the opportunity to learn a lot and improve to protect Sara more efficiently, making it his new goal.

(No specific reason, I believe just having a roof and free food allows me to focus more on my work)

Sara honestly didn't understand the details related to Prime's work. What she knew was that he invested money in stocks, and as these companies rose in hierarchy, Prime made more money.

(Anyway, let's eat. While you were in the bathroom, I finished your breakfast)

Upon hearing these words, Sara simply returned to her room, where her kitchen was also located. On the main table, in the middle of the room and next to the kitchen, there were some plates with various foods.

"Where did all this food come from?" Sara asked, raising an eyebrow in doubt.

(From the fridge) Prime replied indifferently.

Sara also decided to ignore this matter and soon sat at the table to start her meal. The portion of food clearly was not proportional to Sara's size, but just the fact that Prime was inside her made her eat for two.

After finishing her breakfast, four tentacles emerged from Sara's back, taking the dishes to the kitchen to be washed. In the meantime, knocks echoed on the door. Having an idea of who it could be, Sara just stood up and went to the door, opening it afterward. As expected, Kitty and Jean were on the other side, displaying friendly smiles on their faces. At least until they noticed the tentacles coming from Sara's back.

"Oh, Prime is doing the dishes for me" Sara explained as she turned around, giving a view to the girls. Then she pointed to the kitchen, where the tentacles were busy cleaning the dishes.

Witnessing this somewhat peculiar scene, the girls glanced at each other for a few seconds, but then sighed, determined to get used to these situations. Jean then initiated the conversation with a question.

"We came to take you for a tour of the mansion on our way to the cafeteria" Jean explained with a friendly smile on her face.

Kitty, who remained beside Sara, still kept her eyes fixed on the tentacles washing the dishes. Putting a hand on her chin, Kitty said.

"Although it's strange, I'll confess it's cool. Not having to wash dishes anymore is a pretty neat superpower"

Upon hearing that, both Sara and Jean stared at her for a few seconds, making Kitty feel embarrassed by her comment. Shaking her head, Jean turned her gaze back to Sara.

"Are you coming?"

Upon hearing this, Sara glanced briefly behind and noticed that Prime had already finished. Nodding, Sara left, causing the two girls to exchange glances for a few seconds. However, as Sara's tentacles closed the door and locked it, both snapped back to reality and hurried towards Sara.

Walking down the corridor, the three maintained relative silence. Some kids occasionally emerged from their rooms, probably headed to similar destinations as Sara, Jean, and Kitty. These kids always cast curious looks at Sara, as she was a novelty in the place.

While traversing the hallways, Kitty and Jean pointed to different locations, explaining their purposes. It was during these explanations that Sara discovered the locations of the training rooms, apparently spread across various parts of the mansion.

In the end, only the cafeteria remained, and Jean cleared the way for Sara. As she entered, the first thing Sara noticed was that the place was extremely lively, with several children chatting among themselves, as expected in such an environment.

But the distinctive feature was certainly the way the children acted. After all, it's not every day you see a plate flying towards you with the power of the mind. In the area, there was also a darker skinned woman with white hair and light blue eyes, who seemed to take care of both the environment and the children.

"Well, this is the cafeteria. Normally, it's not so hectic..." Jean explained, seeming embarrassed for some reason.

"Jean is right, normally it's worse" Kitty replied with a playful smile.

As Sara observed the cafeteria around her, she noticed that the woman from earlier was approaching with a friendly smile on her face. As she got closer, the woman spoke.

"Hello, kids"

Saying that, the woman turned her gaze to Sara, showing evident curiosity.

"You must be Sara, our newest member and student" The woman affirmed with a warm smile.

Saying that, the woman extended her hand for a handshake, and Sara accepted without hesitation.

"It's a pleasure. I'm Ororo Munroe. Just like you, I'm also a mutant. I work here as a caregiver and teacher for the children. I hope we can get along well in the future"
