8 Chapter 8: Tut's Secret Exposed!?

"Dear, what do we do with Pharaoh? He's been grunting in pain for hours, and we can't even get his attention to know what's wrong with him." Said Hana with red, puffy eyes from crying as she rested Pharaoh's head on her lap while trying her best to soothe his pain, though it seemed not to make a difference.

"Haa, I don't know; there was no instruction manual on how to raise an alien son in the pod he arrived in." Replied James with a scowl as he leaned against the doorframe of Pharaoh's room while glancing at him, his eyes noticeably softening.

"This is not time for jokes, James! Our son is in agony, and there is nothing we can do about it; we don't even know what's the cause of it! We can't take him to the hospital; the instant we do that, they'll learn he's not human, and we'll lose him!" Yelled Hana angrily as she glared at James, who didn't bother to argue since he knew she was using him to vent her emotions.

"I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't be venting my frustration on you; I'm just." Added Hana with a sigh as she calmed down and grabbed her hair in anger and frustration at feeling like a useless Mother.

"It's fine, I feel the same as you." Said James with a nod as he approached Hana, wrapping his arm around her while sitting on the bed beside her.

While easing Hana's heart, I suddenly heard the doorbell ring, causing me to groan in annoyance, but either way, I stood up and headed downstairs as it was most likely Pharaoh's friends to check up on him.

"I'm coming!" Yelled James, annoyed at the constant ringing as he approached the door and aggressively opened it, only to calm down a little when he saw who it was.

"Jean, Sara, Gwen, Peter; I'm assuming you're here to check on Pharaoh?" Asked James as he moved out of the way, allowing the four to enter while heading directly to Pharaoh's room without needing any guidance.

"Yes, Mr. Kent; is Pharaoh still in pain?" Asked Peter respectfully as he and Gwen walked up the stairs beside James while Jean and Sara were already in Pharaoh's room.

"Haa, yes, he's still in pain; he doesn't even seem to register what's happening around him." Replied James with a sigh while grabbing his head in anger before suddenly smacking the side of the wall, startling both Peter and Gwen.

"Sorry, I'm just very frustrated right now." Added James with a frown as he removed his hand from the large hole in the wall.

"Ah, it's fine, we understand, Mr. Kent; however, will you guys be taking Pharaoh to the hospital?" Asked Gwen with a nod of understanding as the three took a left and entered Pharaoh's room, only to see Hana, Sara, and Jean comforting Pharaoh.

"W-Well, it's a little complicated." Said James hesitantly, causing Gwen to frown slightly as she looked at James skeptically but shook her head and went to check on Pharaoh.

"Has he been like this the entire time, Mrs. Kent?" Asked Sara in concern with a knowing glint in her eyes as she crouched down while rubbing Pharaoh alongside Jean.

"Yes." Replied Hana with a nod as she glanced at Sara and Jean, who were both tending to Pharaoh.

"Alright, you four, it's getting a little late; the sun is already setting. Peter, Gwen, your ride's outside." Said James as he entered Pharaoh's room, only to sigh when he saw nothing had changed.

With my announcement, although they seemed slightly reluctant, they all stood up and exited the room; walking behind them, I left the house and saw two cars parked just outside my house; one was a cop car while the other was an old station wagon.

"I heard from my daughter that Pharaoh had been hurt; is he feeling any better?" Asked the man in the cop car as he rolled down the window and looked up at James while Gwen entered the back of the car.

"Haa, he unfortunately hasn't, George." Replied James with a sigh as he leaned against the car.

"I see; well, I do hope that boy gets better. He's a good kid, and I don't want anything bad to happen." Said George with a nod as he started the car and turned on the headlights.

"Make sure to give me a call when Pharaoh's health improves; my girl has been worried sick. She's at the age, so she might have a crush on him; he's one of the few boys I wouldn't mind dating my daughter." Added George with a slight smile, his words causing James to chuckle lightly while Gwen just huffed and stayed silent, not bothering to entertain them.

"They're only 12, so they're a little young, but I'm all for it in a few years; seeya, George, have a safe trip home." Stated James with a smile as he slapped the car's roof and backed away, allowing George to drive.

Seeing George and Gwen leave, I turned around and went over to Peter's car, and to my surprise, I saw May instead of Ben, a rarity in my opinion.

"Is Pharaoh not feeling any better?" Asked May in concern from inside the car as she looked at James, who shook his head, causing May to sigh.

"Haa, I'm sorry to hear that; I'll pray he makes a swift recovery." Added May seriously, eliciting a small smile from James.

"I appreciate it; I'll gladly take all the help I can get. Make sure to tell that slouch Ben I said hi." Said James lightly, backing away while May chuckled as she put the car into drive.

"I'll make sure to tell him; stay safe, James, and tell Hana I said hi as well." Yelled May as she stuck her hand out the window while driving away.

"I will." Yelled James, though May was too far away for her to hear.

Sighing, I looked down the street and saw Jean speaking with John on the porch; when I saw him look over, I waved, and he did the same. Following that, I turned around and went back inside to check on Pharaoh, even though I knew nothing had probably changed. Locking the door, I walked up the stairs, past the large hole in the wall I had made, and entered Pharaoh's room, only to see Sara was still present.

"Sara, what are you still doing here? Jean had already left." Remarked James with a raised eyebrow as he sat down on a chair someone had brought from the kitchen.

"I'm 16, Mr. Kent; my curfew isn't as strict as Jeans; besides, I doubt Dad will mind if I stay the night with you guys; my house is only a few houses down." Replied Sara as she glanced at James before looking back at Pharaoh, her eyes softening considerably, something Hana noticed and didn't like.

"You sure, Sara? You know, after what happened last year." Asked Hana with a slight frown as she looked at Sara, though she didn't go into detail.

"Yes, Mrs. Kent, my punishment has long since ended; besides, unlike before, my parents won't allow me out of the house unless they know exactly where I'm at." Said Sara calmly with a wry smile, noticing Hana's frown and the dislike of her presence, though she couldn't blame her.

"I also don't know of a safer place than to be beside, Tut." Added Sara softly while looking at Tut in appreciation, though her words caused Hana to freeze and James to frown.

"Hmm, what do you mean?" Asked James lightly while Hana was glaring at Sara.

"Umm, did Tut never tell you guys that I also knew of his powers? You know, the super strength, super speed, invulnerability?" Questioned Sara as she looked between James and Hana, though when she noticed their expressions, she nervously gulped, realizing she might've just made a mistake.

(DUH, DUH, DUHHHH!!)

"How do you know about Tut's powers!?" Exclaimed Hana angrily as she glared at Sara like she was prey, which slightly frightened her; nonetheless, she still responded.

"I-It was during what happened last year; he saved me; Tut used his body to protect me from the rain of bullets that would've otherwise killed me. Did he not tell you?" Replied Sara in slight fear as she glanced at Hana before looking at James, who just covered his face and sighed.

"Protect you? Are you saying Tut was at that drug den a few blocks down when the shooting happened?" Questioned Hana with an intense scowl while switching her glare between Sara and Tut.

"Y-Yeah."

"Dammit! He lied to us, James!" Yelled Hana furiously, eyeing James as she hit Tut's body by accident, causing her to grab her hand while wincing in pain.

"I know; I'm also angry, but remember what George said; everyone involved with the shooting was killed. Besides Sara, everyone else had died, though now it makes sense why only you managed to survive; I suppose it's not entirely wrong to say it was a miracle." Remarked James with a nod as he looked at Sara, and although he was also furious, he was somewhat relieved only she knew about Tut's secret.

"Haa, you're right; besides, it's been a year since then; if anyone were suspicious or had found something out, Pharaoh wouldn't be with us right now. However, once this is all over, I will heavily punish him." Said Hana as she took a deep breath, calming her furious heart while eyeing Pharaoh, who had been grunting in pain this entire time, though they seemed to be getting further apart.

"Umm, since we're on the topic of Tut, ever since that incident, I've been looking up all kinds of unique powers on the internet, and although it might be a little far-fetched, I found an article about a mutant who had really good hearing; good as in he was able to hear the sound of a bird flapping its wing from over 200 feet away." Stated Sara nervously while looking at Hana and James before they glanced at Tut.
