7 Chapter 7: The Agony of Awakening

Having been nearly blinded, I rubbed my eyes a little and opened them again, which quickly proved to be a mistake as everything was even more intense than before; however, I powered through the pain my head was feeling as I observed the gym, and to so say I wasn't astonished would be an understatement. Everything around me seemed to explode in a myriad of colors; not only that, I could see so clearly and perfectly that even from the gym's windows, I could see the lines on an insect's wings from over a mile away.

'My goodness, is that what Superman sees every day? I had great vision before, but now it's like I'm seeing everything in 4k instead of the previous 144p, and even then, it's probably not an accurate comparison.' Thought Pharaoh in pure amazement as he disregarded the pain in his head as he took in the wonderful view, seeing things he'd never seen before.

I could see colors just floating in the air, which confused me as I had no idea what they were, but before I could question it, I blinked, and the next thing I knew, It was like I was looking through a rainbow; it took me a few seconds to realize what was happening, but when I did I was even more shocked.

'I-Infrared vision? I knew about the X-ray vision, but I never knew he could also see using infrared.' Mused Pharaoh in surprise as he looked around.

"Tut, you okay?" Asked Gwen in concern as she glanced at Tut, noticing his weird expression.

"Y-Yeah, I'm good." Replied Tut dismissively, as he was too busy using his suddenly awakened powers, causing Gwen to furrow her brows, but she didn't continue questioning him.

Now, I was using X-ray vision, which was amazing, but I couldn't properly control it, so I was seeing just a bunch of skeletons, which was very weird, but it wasn't as odd as it could be, if you know what I mean; after all, I'm surrounded by a bunch of twelve-year-olds.

"Awes-" Said Tut with a smile, though he quickly closed his mouth in pure disgust.

Following the awakening of my super sight came my super taste, which allowed me to taste a plethora of things I didn't even know existed; though whatever I had tasted, it was utterly horrendous, it was like I had eaten shit sprinkled in one-hundred-year-old shit and marinated in vomit. I had nearly thrown up myself, and I was honestly a little scared to open my mouth again, though before I could do anything, my super smell was the third to awaken, and boy, was it bad.

Thankfully, what I smelled wasn't nearly as bad as what I had tasted, and I was actually able to make out a few things, like the intense smell of sweet, which was very salty. There were many other things besides sweat, but I couldn't properly make them out, and while I was relishing these new sudden abilities, my head was a mess; it was pounding in pain.

'Urgh, it seems suddenly awakening these abilities comes at a cost; fuck me, it hurts like a bitch. It feels like someone is repeatedly hitting my head with a fucking sledgehammer.' Thought Tut with an intense frown as he closed his eyes, hoping to relive his pain, though it was futile since he simply saw right through his eyelids

Just when I felt like I was nearing my limit from all the sudden stimulus that was overloading my brain, I felt my entire body tingle, and then all of a sudden, I felt thousands upon thousands of things touching my skin. It was a very uncomfortable feeling, but I couldn't really bother with it, as my head only continued to increase in pain, causing me to lean forward and grab my head, occasionally grunting in pain.

"Tut, you sure you're alright?" Asked Gwen with a concerned frown as she squeezed behind Peter and Jean, sitting right next to Tut while placing her head atop his head, causing him to tremble.

"Y-Yeah, m-my head just-URGH!" Replied Tut with a painful expression while gritting his teeth, barely able to think amidst the extreme pain, though he couldn't finish speaking as he suddenly loudly grunted in pain before collapsing on the bleachers, grabbing his ears.

"P-Pharaoh!" Yelled Gwen in worry and slight fear as she quickly got on her knees and her tried to help Pharaoh, her loud voice garnering the attention of everyone nearby, including Jean and Peter.

"Pharaoh! Tut!" Yelled Peter and Jean, respectively, as they instantly stopped what they were doing and rushed to help Tut, who was curled into a ball, grabbing his ears while sporting an expression of agony

I couldn't even think; all I could hear was an innumerable number of sounds, whether it be voices or sounds in general; it was pure agony. Everything sounded so loud; it felt like everything was happening right in my mind, let alone thinking; I could barely process what was happening around me. I saw Jean, Peter, and Gwen kneeling beside me as they seemingly tried to help me, but their voices were drowned out by the hundreds of thousands of things I was hearing.

I'd never felt such intense pain before in my life, both of them as a matter of fact; even when I was dying, it felt nowhere near as bad as this.

Seeing Tut just lying on the ground in agony, I was both worried and frightened as I tried my best to help or ease the pain. I've known Tut since I was young, and never have I seen him show any form of pain; it almost gave me the impression that he was invincible.

"S-Stay here; I'm going to get an adult!" Said Peter as he left Jean and Gwen and quickly ran down the bleachers, stumbling in the process.

"Gwen, do you know what's wrong with Tut?" Asked Jean in worry as she looked at Gwen, knowing she was the smarter one among the two, while rubbing Tut's head, having tried to call him several times but to no avail.

"I-I don't know. He was acting a little strange before this, and I went to check on him, and shortly after, he suddenly collapsed in pain. H-He's grabbing his ears, so maybe his eardrums are damaged?" Stated Gwen in a slightly panicked voice as she looked at Tut resting on Jean's lap, not knowing what to do since, while she may be a genius, she was still just a kid.

Calling out to Tut again, I tried to get him to tell us something, but it seemed whatever pain he was experiencing was too much, and he couldn't even register our voice, or maybe Gwen was right, and Tut might not even be able to hear us. However, just when I thought to convey my words on a piece of paper for Tut to read, I saw Peter returning with two teachers.

"P-Pharaoh's right there." Said Peter while out of breath as he moved out of the way, allowing the teachers to get closer and inspect Pharaoh's situation.

"You two were beside him, right? Do either of you have any idea what may have caused this?" Asked Ms. Casper with a frown as she leaned down and checked Pharaoh's body, looking for anything that may have caused his pain, though she found nothing.

"N-No, he was fine just a minute ago, and suddenly, he became like this." Replied Gwen in uncertainty as she looked at Ms. Casper before glancing at Tut, grunting in agony.

"I-Is Tut going to be okay?" Asked Jean in worry as she looked at Tut, her heart aching at the sight of one of her best friends in agonizing pain.

"Yes, he'll be fine, but we should take him to the nurse's office and call his parents." Said the other teacher confidently, slightly relieving the three children, as he reached down and carefully picked Tut up before walking down the bleachers.

"Haa, I hope Tut is okay; it's the first time I've ever seen him in pain." Said Jean in concern, the joy she had from before nowhere to be seen.

"You heard the teacher, Jean. Tut will be fine; he'll probably be in pain for a little while longer, but he'll make a full recovery." Remarked Peter with a smile as he patted Jean's shoulder, cheering her up, but he and Gwen weren't gullible enough to blindly trust the man's words even though they hoped he was right.

"Yeah, you're right." Muttered Jean with a forced smile as she looked at Gwen and Peter, regaining some of her bubbly personality.

I had no idea what was happening to me as I wasn't even really in control of my body right now. I saw and vividly felt as the man picked me up and carried me through the school, but I was too busy trying to filter out the noise that was in my mind. However, I couldn't do it, and for a long time, I just lay on a bed while grunting in pain, trying my damnedest to suppress my hearing.

Though all of a sudden, I felt a large, strong hand and a small, soft hand touch my body, slightly soothing the pain; opening my eyes, I briefly saw the faces of my parents before I started looking right through their bodies. I could see them moving their mouths and saying things, but I couldn't make out what they were saying; even if I could read lips, with everything going on in my head, I had no mental capacity to spare.

I need four-ply, four-ply, for when I cry! (I don't know why, it just appeared in my head randomly; I'm sure y'all can relate, it's Spongebob)
