158 Chapter 157: Avengers Initiative

Hearing the sound of wings flapping overhead, I slowly opened my eyes as I awoke from my sleep, only to roll over on the side and close my eyes once more, wanting to sleep for longer, though, after another ten minutes of resting, I eventually stood up from the couch, feeling well rested and completely refreshed, though I'm sure I would've felt the same if I had stayed in the sun for a few minutes, it still felt nice to sleep, it was honestly quite the luxury.

"Haa, ugh, that was wonderful; I wish I could do it again." Said Pharaoh lightly as he stood up and stretched his body while yawning before grabbing the phone that was still on the couch and placing it on the charger.

Entering the kitchen, I checked the time, only to whistle when I saw it say eight-thirty-two; I had gone to sleep at around twelve-forty-five, so I slept for nearly eight hours, which was definitely one of the longest nights of sleep I've ever had, and I was all for it. Expanding my hearing, I went to see how the world, mainly New York, was doing, and everything sounded as expected; people were already working on cleaning Manhattan, and I intended to help as well since my assistance would save weeks, if not months, of work.

However, I also heard a whole bunch of people talking about me; most of the people were speaking nicely about me, while a good chunk was skeptical of my existence, which I suppose was understandable; I did kind of just appear from out of nowhere to them, though, there was, of course, a minority who believed me to be terrible, evil incarnate, etc. Unsurprisingly, almost everyone in power, such as generals, supreme court members, governors, senators, etc., all disliked me right off the bat, though I wasn't surprised since all those people felt the same way about mutants and whatnot.

'Just as Fury said, people in power don't like it when things get out of their control, and someone like me is definitely out of their control.' Mused Pharaoh with a wry smile before sighing and shaking his head while leaning against the kitchen counter.

Now, everyone in power wasn't against me; there were a few amongst them who were giving me the benefit of the doubt, but they were few and far between. Shaking my head in disappointment at the United States government, I ignored everything that was happening and focused on my friends and family, only to hear Mom and Mr. Richards enthusiastically speaking to each other; well, it was mainly the latter speaking as Mom was trying her best to follow along with what he was talking about. Jean was fine; Sara was also safe, though that was something I had made sure of since she was in Manhattan when everything was happening yesterday; though, while Pete and Gwen were safe, they seemed to be doing something weird.

'What the hell is Pete talking about? Go, web, go? Up up and away? Shazam? Away web? Is Pete on drugs or something?' Thought Pharaoh with a confused expression as he listened to Pete and Gwen, only to shake his head and forget about it.

"Haa, well, whatever they're doing, it's safe, so I'll check on them later. I suppose I should go and speak with Fury and them since it seems like Ms. Danver is already doing such." Muttered Pharaoh as he opened his eyes and left the kitchen, heading towards the front door, only to exit the house and shoot off into the sky.

Flying through the air, I passed over a couple of states before entering Virgina and arriving above Shield's base a second later; descending, I floated right before a large glass window that was blocked off from the inside, though I was able to see through it as I watched Ms. Danvers arguing with Fury, only for them to stop and glance at me.

"Can I come in?" Asked Pharaoh with a raised eyebrow as he gently knocked on the window while looking at Fury, causing him to press a button underneath his desk.

Seeing the window pane to my right lowering, I floated inside and landed on the ground, prompting the window behind me to raise back up while I greeted Fury and Danvers.

"Yo, what's up nigga? Sleep well, Ms. Danvers?" Remarked Pharaoh lightly as he glanced at Fury and Danvers while walking forward, sitting in a chair next to the latter.

"Yes, I did sleep good, being back on Earth is quite nice, I must've been a little home sick; though you can just call me Carol, we've both fought together, so we're practically brother and sister, no need for those lame ass formalities." Replied Carol with a small smile as she ignored Fury and looked at Pharaoh, who nodded with a smirk, only for her glare back at Fury.

"What are you here for, Pharaoh, or should I say Blacksteel?" Asked Fury with a raised eyebrow as he ignored the death glare Carol was giving him and looked at Pharaoh, who slightly winced.

"Ugh, I'm going to have to get used to being called that; haa, I shouldn't have agreed to Sara's name; it sounds so corny. Whatever, what's done is done, can't change it now." Muttered Pharaoh under his breath as he sighed in defeat, only for Carol to pat his shoulder.

"Don't worry, Blacksteel is quite the nice name, much better than the original name Shield gave me before I became Captain Marvel. I don't think Blacksteel can be worse than Light Woman." Remarked Carol with a friendly smile as she patted Pharoah's shoulder, cheering him up while revealing one of her worst memories, causing her to wince and frown.

"Yeah, you're right; Light woman is fucking ass. But to be fair, you got a cool ass name afterward, Captain Marvel. C'mon, I know your enemies get scared whenever they hear the name Captain Marvel; that's a dope ass moniker." Stated Pharaoh, nodding without hesitation, causing Fury to lightly smirk while Carol's face constantly twitched, though her insecurities quickly vanished the more he spoke.

"Heh, you're not wrong; I once made a Kree scouting party piss themselves when they saw me floating in front of their ship." Declared Carol with a smirk as she folded her arms while reminiscing, only to be interrupted by Fury clearing his throat.

"I'm all one for sentimental talks, but right now isn't really the time you two. What did you come here for?" Said Fury as he looked at Carol, who clicked her tongue, before glancing at Pharaoh, who shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't really know why I came here; I figured I should just come before I start helping the people of Manhattan. So, is there anything I need to know or not?" Asked Pharaoh with a shake of his before leaning back in his chair and glancing at Fury, who nodded before standing up and walking toward the exit, prompting Carol to follow behind him while Pharaoh did so, though only when they were about to leave.

"Damn, could've told a nigga you were leaving." Added Pharaoh, though his words were promptly ignored as Fury continued walking, only to pull a tablet from his trench coat and hand it to him.

"What's this?" Asked Pharaoh curiously as he held the tablet while looking at his birth certificate and other various important documents.

"You're personal information, along with your Mother's, Hana Kent. We've done you the favor of outright erasing any personal and other important information from the internet and stored it in a confidential server only Shield has access to." Replied Fury as he glanced at Pharaoh while Carol nodded.

"Only Shield? Well, I should probably tell you something important about Shield then." Said Pharaoh with a wry smile as the three passed a bald, darker-skinned man, who just so happened to be apart of Hydra secretly.

"I appreciate it, though; that's not really helping all that much. My face was all over the world, and I don't think it'll take long for people to connect the dots; there are only so many stupid people on this planet." Added Pharaoh with a shake of his head before swiping to a video of him repelling Nam-Ek and Faora, which ended with a close-up shot of his face, which was actually blurred.

"We've already got that covered; we've blurred your face. If an image of you is uploaded onto the internet, it'll be blurred within the next ten seconds." Said Fury as he turned to his left, walking down a flight of stairs, only for Maria to quickly chase behind them.

"Here, you go, sir." Said Maria as she handed Fury a thick folder filled with papers.

"Oh, well, that's quite handy, though I've actually just thought of a solution for that, but either way, thanks." Said Pharaoh with a smile before handing the tablet back to Fury, only for him to hand over a few papers.

Grabbing the papers from Fury, I noticed he handed the same to Carol as well, and she looked just as confused as I did; looking at the papers in my hand, I read the title.

"Avenger's initiative?" Said Pharaoh and Carol simultaneously as they looked at the paper before glancing at Fury.

"The Avengers initiative was a program created, by me, in order to bring together a group of remarkable people to face extraordinary threats. Just like the one we faced yesterday." Replied Fury as he exited the doors, which led to the outside, where a helicopter was in the distance.
