He had asked the Keeper to guide the artifact and heal it as much as possible. It meant he didn't have the strong ability to sense the energy around him over long distances. He spread his energy to thirty meters around him and was finally sensible of any change in the power. This was the most efficient distance he could go up. It meant that he would not be able to sense beyond that.
