Chapter 17: Qi (2)

"Guess, I'll have to stay in the library for quite a long time today..."

After a couple of hours of reading books regarding Qi, Mo Fan learned quite a few things about this energy.

Qi, or World Energy, is everywhere: in the air, in the Sun, in the water...

A cultivator can first start feeling it when he enters the 4th Stage Tempered Body and move it a bit when he enters the 5th. One can then absorb the wordly Qi, with a secret art, in his own body only at the 7th Stage as only at that point is his physique strong enough to store this energy.

To begin to use Qi, one needs to think about it as an additional arm and, just like when a baby first learns to walk, trying to make it move little by little with his mind. The more one practices doing so, the more adept he will become in its control.

Once one starts moving Qi he will be able to only heighten his attack's strength initially, but upon improving with its control it can be used to heal injuries, made swords out of pure qi...

"Interesting, so Qi can be used in this way too, huh" Mo Fan said, his attention completely stealed by the book he was currently reading.

"But, If I were to release Qi on the moment of impact, wouldn't then the attack be more powerf-" the golden haired kid was saying, before something hit his head.

"Hey, you bookworm, it's time to leave now" Librarian Zhu exclaimed as he continued to hit the kid's head with a book.

"Why, can't I stay at the library until midnight?" Mo Fan asked, getting a reply that startled him "Midnight passed an hour ago, i mean i know that books are great, but I have to go back home and I can't leave you here alone, so you should definitely go now"

"What? So much time passed already?!" The golden haired kid was now even more confused as it seemed to him that he had been reading books about Qi for barely five minutes, so how could night have fallen so soon?

"Yes, time flies when you read book..." the old man Zhu began as he quickly picked up Mo Fan by the collar of his martial tunic and kicked him out of the library "Now scram!"

"Sigh... I could've read a lot of other books if that old fart had let me stay a little bit more" the golden haired kid said, a sigh escaping from his mouth "Well, maybe it's better, I only have tomorrow left to train before Yang Kai returns"

"Just you wait Yang Kai, I am gonna beat your ass when you return!"

The sun set and the sunrays of this star were being reflected by a guy's golden hair as this was practicing Qi manipulation: Mo Fan had been trying to move the World Energy for the entire night without stopping for a single moment.

But for all he tried, he had been able to move Qi only by a centimeter: his meridians were too messed up for this energy to properly move through them.

"Fuck those meridians of mine!" Mo Fan said, as he hit one of his acupuncture points out of irritation "They can't even make a bit of Qi passing through!"

"Is there even a way to heal them? A medicine or maybe a pill? If that were the case I should ask to that girl with a crush in Yang Kai, I think she's named Xia Ning Chang and I heard she's a great alchemist..." Mo Fan immerged himself deep in his mind.

"But what can I offer to her in return? Pictures of Yang Kai naked? A date with him?" He continued to think "Nah, she's too shy for those kinds of things"

"What do I do? What do I do?" the golden haired lad was so stressed in that moment that he didn't notice he was bitting his thumb, making it bleed. And just then did a realization hit him "Fuck, just like I found the acupuncture method, can't I find a method to improve meridians in books as well? I am a fricking genius!"

And so, he immediately rushed inside his hut that was to the immediate left of the workshop and started searching books about legendary cultivator that started as the weakest of the weak, through the pile that old librarian forced him to bring home.

After a while, he had found a couple of stories like that and he didn't find anything useful as they all used secret heavenly techniques to enhance their meridians, except for one: The Golden King.

'The Golden King' talked about a young man with one of the worst meridian network ever, that tries to become stronger, failing every time until he had a special encounter. While he was doing a sect mission, he met a beautiful young girl with cancer and immediately fell in love with her. Unfortunately, as he left for a split second, she died, causing the young man to cry as he never did before. But, suddendly, when his tears touched her face, this glowed and the body did so too immediately after. After the light disappeared from her body, she came back to life as a fairy and then to thank him, she gave him information about how to heal his meridians before disappearing forever.

"So, Azure Eqisia, Rose Petals and Death Flowers are herbs that can help your meridians heal a bit..." Mo Fan began, as he deeply thought about what effect had each of them on his meridians network: the Blue Eqisia is a rare herb than can put meridian in a mouldable state as if it were clay; the Rose Petals makes your meridians network uniformally harmonious and perfect; the Death Flowers, finally, dried up all of the meridians network and, just like clay, solidifies it with the form given by the previous herb.

"I should ask to that girl If she know something about those herbs..."
