Ch 20: Challenge

When they exited the contribution hall and talked between themselves, they were escorted by a trial disciple to their rooms, though only yang feng got a room and yang kai would have to share his with 3 more disciples till he can become a lower based disciple.

When they asked him about this rule, he replied with a look of envy and yearning,"trial disciple and ordinary disciples have to work by themselves on cultivating, with a class with the elders or elite disciples once a month and are only provides with sect salary to buy something they need. Only those who are lower base disciple are considered real disciples of the sect, they have a cultivation of at least Qi Transformation realm, can get a class with elders thrice a month, they are provided their own rooms to cultivate in peace, allocated more salaries and pills for their cultivation. The elite disciples are the ones the sect really invests in, they are again given increase in their salaries, pills, and other resources, their own cottages to live in and they are also allowed to ask the elders any type of questions regarding cultivation anytime."

"Finally, the core disciples are usually the disciples of the sect master and elders, they are trained to become the elders and sect master of the next generation.", while saying this the look on his face turned from envy to worship. 'hmm, so that's how it is. The sects inner workings were never explained in the novels so this is helpful in that regard.'

They first took yang Kai to his lounging where yang feng told him to look for him once he had settled down. When yang feng reached his room in the lower base disciple area, he entered the room that had the bare minimum for a person to live in.

He let out a sigh and laid down on his bed,' now that I have joined the sect, the next step is to look for the mystic demon book.' he thought while staring at the ceiling of his room.

He continued to lay there for some time and only woke up from his thoughts by a knock on his door. He stood up and saw that it was yang kai who came. After letting him inside he asked him to sit on the chair.

When they were sitting opposite each other yang feng asked," what do plan on doing?", yang kai sighed. He knew this would be the reason for his big brother to call him here," cultivate." He replied with his usual determined look.

Yang feng looked at his face for a moment and stated," we both know your situation, first hear me out, you will probably find it different to reach the requirements of the sect, and because of me you will have to face even more criticism and bullying. So I will be giving you pill that you will accept without any complains to help raise your cultivation. Is that clear.", yang kai had wanted to interrupt him at first, but he didn't let him and continued in a hard tone.

As his words ended, yang Kai just looked at him with a conflicted expression. "Hah, I am not belittling you little brother, this is the truth and this is not your fault. I am trying to find a way to heal you but until then you will listen to me.", after 15 minutes of silence which yang feng didn't interrupt, yang Kai agreed to his condition while feeling lucky to have such a brother.

After sending him away with a few pills, yang feng sat down on the cultivation mat in the room and started cultivating.

Time skip 1 month

Yang feng opened his eyes and was thought,' isn't this too easy?, I don't even see the so-called two paths in my mind.'

He cleared his mind and stood up to go outside. He had not gone out much in the past month and only cultivated. Today he came out to just clear his mind and to sightsee around the sect.

As he was exploring the sect, the disciples were looking at him and talking between themselves. The news that he was at 2nd stage separation and Reunion Realm at the age of 13 and had joined the sect, spread like forest fire and within a day the news had reached even to the other two sects.

Now whenever someone saw him, some would look at him with admiration, some with contempt, and some with envy, the female population would look at him as a pack of hungry wolves watching a piece of meat.

But he didn't have much of a reaction to that as this would happen whereever he went. Just as he was going towards the gates of the sect, his path was blocked by a particular disciple of High Heaven Pavilion. In front of him was Xie hong chen with a crowd behind him.

When he saw him, yang feng saw envy and disdain in his eyes, but that was covered up in a second,' truly a great actor.'. He walked forward and said," disciple Xie hong chen, cultivation 5th stage separation and Reunion, requests a spar with fellow brother."

As it was in the rules of the sect he could not refuse the bastard. "Disciple Yang feng, cultivation 3rd stage separation and Reunion, I accept fellow brothers challenge." When he heard yang feng's cultivation, he didn't think much and already thought that he had won.

Xie Hong Chen has been jealous and filled with envy the entire month. Ever since yang feng joined the sect, everyone would talk about him like he was a super genius, which he actually was but Xie hong chen didn't want to believe that, and even the elders praised his talent and mindset for focusing on his cultivation.

So he wanted to have a duel with yang feng and prove to everyone that he was the greatest genius and not yang feng.
