13 Chapter 13: Food and water

The mana of the people at the guild slowly started rising with each passing second. After a short period of time had passed, Grey's mana had reached its peak while Lumiere was nearing it, but the mana of some people at the guild was still rising without any intention of stopping, the whole guild was now trembling due to the slowly rising mana.

"Fuck! Why does he have to exert pressure when he can just identify himself normally?" Grey thought as he looked at Jean.

Jean then looked at Grey and Lumiere amusingly before smiling lightly.

When Grey and Lumiere saw this, they thought "don't tell me he's going to do something again!?"

After that thought crossed their minds, Jean's finger suddenly twitched.

BOOM!

The mana of all the people at the guild instantly exploded causing the whole guild to tremble violently as they sent attacks straight to Jean, Grey, and Lumiere.

"FUCK!" Grey cursed in his head as his mana exploded together with Lumiere.

"Tyrannical Heaven fist 12th form:" Grey got into a bow stance while a magic circle was slowly getting bigger and bigger beneath their feet.

The magic circle was Lumiere's doing, she was planning on teleporting the three of them out of the guild but since she was teleporting 3 people and without any physical contact, she could not teleport instantly.

Grey was planning on buying time for Lumiere and was about to unleash his attack, but suddenly he frowned "FUCK! These bracelets are slowing me down!" Grey thought.

In times like these, where a single second was of great importance, the bracelets Grey was wearing was truly a burden.

Jean had a carefree look on his face as he watched all of this happening.

"STOP!" before the attacks reached them, a loud shout that caused the whole guild to tremble more violently was heard.

The attacks from the people at the guild instantly stopped when they heard this shout.

Many weapons like swords, daggers, and spears were only an inch away from Jean, Grey, and Lumiere's vital spots.

There were also people that had their arms or staff raised, ready to cast magic, and bows drawn, ready to fire at any moment.

Jean was not surprised when he heard the shout, it almost seemed that he was waiting for it.

A big but slightly fat and bald man with a long beard slowly walked out from the stairs that was leading below the guild.

He looked at Jean with a serious look while his guard was fully raised and thought "Who is he? I got a feeling that if I was a moment slower he would've killed everybody here."

Jean looked at the man with surprise and said with a confused tone "an S rank? Why would an S rank be at a place like this?"

The man looked at the receptionist with a warm and loving gaze before replying "I'm here because of my wife. May I ask who you are sir?" asked the man with a polite tone.

Jean didn't answer but simply raised his left hand to show the ring that was on his middle finger.

The man looked at the ring and frowned, he felt that it was extremely familiar, as if he saw it before.

"You don't know what this is?" Jean asked as he saw that the man only looked at it with a frown.

After a short while, the man looked surprised, as if he remembered something, he instantly paled and broke out in cold sweat with a bitter smile.

"A black ring with those kinds of lines? If I'm not wrong, that's a spatial ring! And judging from the lines, it was made by the Archmage Albert Stein! The Archmage never makes spatial rings for anyone, then this man must be…" the man thought.

"Hooh, you know what this is?" asked Jean in a surprised tone.

"I was once fortunate enough to see the Archmage Albert in person, and I saw him wearing the same ring." the man answered.

Jean nodded in understanding. "Please follow me." said the man with a respectful tone as he lead them beneath the guild.

"Brad!" said the receptionist with a worried tone as he looked at the man.

"Don't worry Ava, these are esteemed guest." said the man with a loving gaze as he looked at the receptionist.

Beneath the guild was a wide open space with big black tiles covering every part of it.

Grey looked at the tiles and felt that it was special.

"This is where we assess the rank of the adventurers through combat, we call this the assessment room." said the man named Brad when he saw that Grey was looking at the surroundings.

Beneath the assessment room was a humble abode where Brad lead the three of them.

"Welcome, please make yourselves at home." Brad said as he welcomed them.

"Is it okay for an S rank such as yourself to live at this place?" asked Jean.

"I just want to live with my wife peacefully." replied Brad before seating himself in front of where Jean, Grey, and Lumiere was seated.

Jean looked at Brad amusingly before asking him "Why don't you kneel?"

Brad trembled and immediately stood up and was about to kneel but a strange force prevented him from doing so.

"Answer." Jean said.

"I heard that the Exalted Fist Jean doesn't like it when somebody kneels to him" Brad replied.

Jean smiled before saying "Good"

Brad heaved a sigh of relief before being seated once more.

"Umm, may I ask why someone such as yourself is here at this small little guild." Brad asked.

"I have a favor to ask of you." Jean replied.

Brad was surprised and said "anything."

"I want food and water for 3 people for 3 years time, oh and I don't have any money on me right now so can you pay for it?" Jean said shamelessly.

"Certainly! Please wait for a while as I prepare for it." Brad said immediately when he heard Jean's request he immediately stood up and prepared for it.

For an S rank like Brad, food and water for 3 people for 3 years were worth little to nothing.

"I thought you were going to train us for only 2 years?" asked Grey after Brad left.

"You two are going to need all the food you can get when I train you, trust me." said Jean.

Jean, Grey, and Lumiere patiently waited for Brad while sitting.

After about 2 hours, Brad returned "please follow me."

The assessment room was filled with many large crates filled with food and barrels of water.

When Grey and Lumiere saw this, they knew that this was worth more than 3 years worth of food and water.

Jean nodded in satisfaction when he saw this. He then walked up to it and touched it with his left hand one by one.

As soon as his hand made contact with a crate or a barrel, it instantly disappeared.

Grey and Lumiere were surprised when they saw this, but Lumiere was only surprised for a moment.

"Wtf? Where did it go?" Grey asked Seraphim who was quietly floating above his shoulder.

"It went inside the ring in his left middle finger, the ring is called a spatial ring, it can store any non-living things in it as long as it can fit inside its limited space." Seraphim answered.

"Damn! That's pretty handy." Grey replied in amazement when he heard Seraphim's answer.

After Jean finished storing the food and water he turned to Brad and said "thank you, I owe you one"

Brad trembled before bowing and saying sincerely "thank you!"

Jean smiled when he saw that Brad had no intentions of declining it.

"The Exalted Jean himself owes me something, no way in hell would I decline such a thing." Brad thought.

Jean, Grey, and Lumiere then left the guild and the Clear sky kingdom altogether after getting what they came for.
