Only Daughter

"Am I doing the right thing?" I asked Roman as I strum the guitar.

He was sitting beside me while looking at my hands.

"Mmm… I don't think so," he replied.

My eyes narrowed and Roman's response changed quickly.

"No! I am just kidding. You did great! You did it right!" he laughed and his arms wrapped me until we fell on the floor.

Place became quiet and our eyes met as he was positioned accidentally above my body.

It was hot and I can feel the heat of his body too. His lips was about to land on my lips but something disturbed us.

I really hope that this relationship will not be secret anymore.

Roman, a man like him is someone that a woman can be proud of.

"Ring! Ring! Ring!"

My cell phone rang on my table.

We both closed our eyes as we felt disappointed for the momentum that was cut.

I grabbed his face using my two hands and kissed him then I stood up.

I picked up the phone to see who was calling and discovered that it was my father.

Roman followed me and was standing at my back.

"Who was that?"

I didn't answer his question but he looked at my phone so he already got the answer.

"Oh… Okay… Your dad." He said while his face was obviously disappointed but he still painted and with a straight smile.

I looked at him in the eye and he nodded at me.

"Go… Answer your dad's call," he insisted even though he knew that my dad was against at him.

I knew exactly what my father was going to say and I don't want to hear that but Roman still pushed me to answer the call. After clearing my throat, I answered my phone.

"Hi, dad."

"Allison, are you ready for dinner tonight?"

My dad said. He was looking for the assurance that I am going to attend the exclusive dinner with the Dawson family.

Their son, Louis, became my fiancé with their own decision.

"Dad…"

He was the heir of his parents, who owned the most popular luxury brand of high fashion across the world.

However, he has already started his own firm. He is the CEO of a successful cellphone manufacturing company that has led to the country's number one brand.

But it was not the life I wanted.

There is a condition that after our marriage, I will focus on his business and I have to learn also the business of his parents, which was about to transfer to him.

"Allison, you have to be there. I am expecting you. Don't do this to me. Don't make everything hard for me."

But here's my father, who was pleading for my yes.

He was the second richest man in our country, and he was well aware that marrying a Dawson would elevate him to first place.

I am his only daughter with a two sibling boys.

I am the only access to the richest of the Dawson. Louis is their only child and for them we are perfectly matched for each other but I am against. It was too serious to live the life he wanted.

My father's wants was not my wants, he wants riches and to be the best.

I can't live with a person that I don't love.

Leaving Roman was not in my vocabulary.

"Dad? Please. I can't."

"Allison?! Think straight! You don't have to do this. Marry Louis and we are done."

"You deserve the best, you deserve Louis and nobody will be!"

"Come to our dinner or else…"

Dad uses killing Roman and breaking everything that he has as a form of blackmail against me.

It was quite simple for him to do so. He is a person where you could really label him that there's no impossible with him'.

If it means jeopardizing his goals, particularly my marriage to Dawson, he will do it without hesitation.

I looked at Roman and closed my eyes and said, "Alright, dad. I will be there."

I replied quickly, as he expected.

"Okay. Things are clear now. You know what you have to do. See you later."

He ended the call after hearing the assurance from me.

I take a big breath and place my phone back on the table.

I don't know how long I am going to be with him or until when my promise to Roman will last.

This is the promise that I wanted to fulfill, but I think can't.

As the time goes by the situation chokes me.

I'm still waiting for a miracle that Dawson and Laurier's wedding will be postponed or cancelled, but do I have to wait for it or just let go and hope for the best for these children?

When will my heart be able to let go?
