1 Chapter _1 Arguments

I have always wondered what it feels like to be loved back. But I guess, I would never know.

"Shanvi, please help me with the dress " the ever-gorgeous Sahana with perfect lithe figure taps on my bedroom door.

I glance in the mirror, her stark yellow dress matches her caramel coloured eyes. Her slender legs shine even more than the newly painted mahogany door of my bedroom. I sigh and turn towards the door, "Come Inside."

She tip -toes inside stopping in just front of me. "See the neckline isn't good enough," she mews fidgeting her dress up.

" Isn't your cleavage is showing a little bit much? " Her breasts look like they would pop out any moment.

She looks at me as if I have grown horns on my head. " Stop talking like an ancient being. You don't even know fashion. Just zip it up."

" It's just that kiyansh's grandmother is gonna be in the party today. And you know how sometimes conservative she can be. And besides that he is planning to announce today. " My gut wrenches before I realise what I just blabbered out.

" What- What did you just say? " Sahana takes an unfaltering step towards me, like a cat preparing to chase a rat.

I take a hesitant breath, knowing she won't let it go. I clear my throat, "He...he.." the words he spoke that day are still stamped on my mind, his words still burn. The memory flashes back , his brown eyes looking terse, ambitious,so striking it would light up a grate. His perfect pink lips mouthed the words which lashed through my heart like a sword.

" I'll announce our engagement Shanvi " he had said, in that curt voice of his, hiding thousands of emotions like a veil. " It's been a long time, my family asks about her. See to it that she comes with you to the party with you."

I still remember, how I could not breathe but somehow, like always , a small smile came on my lips. It always did for him.

I gathered the words out through my pinching windpipe. " So you both have decided, she agreed? "

His six foot two inches was talling above my five foot seven inches. I had to look up at him. His long golden fingers were resting above his chiseled jaw as if he wanted to delude the world that he was thinking, but I knew it was something that he did when he was a little bit scared. Since he started doing it from fifth grade when he was forced to go to swimming lessons.

" You know how she is. Always grumbling about her acting career. How it will have an adverse effect over her career. You are such a famous director if you would have been with me you wouldn't be like her." He laughs almost dejectedly. " Let's leave it as a surprise."

As if I we could be anything but best friends. My heart ached in confusion from his words but what came out was " Yes, you are right."

" Hey! Hey Shanvi" Sahana jerked me, snapping me back to earth. " What did he say?" She asks in a reprimanding tone.

I gulp, I knew I couldn't escape anymore. ," He's planning to tell our families about you two." I hoped, I didn't stutter.

" What" she shrieked, moving haphazardly in and out of the room.

" You know it can't happen right? I am at the peak of my career. I just can't. " she looks at me panickly.

I take a deep breath. Admonishing myself for creating this chaos. " It's just going to be fifty people Sahana, our close family and friends." I ignore the wrenching of my gut.

" No. No!" she almost shouts, " you don't even know how fast the words get out. I am an actress, one of the most famous actress of Bollywood and he, he is one of the youngest billionaire of India. Our families are one of the most famous people of our country. It'll be a big piece of news. And the fact that I am five years older than him. Listen Shanvi you need to talk to him. He'll listen to you. " she pleads before moving at the edge of my bed, her head tightly clasped in her hands.

" But you love him Sahana. One day you have to..."

" I don't know." she whispers.

" What!? " I almost laugh in bewilderment.

" I don't know Shanvi. I don't know. You just have to talk to him or else I don't know. "
