Chapter 16-Ehadris, The Guards and the Library

I made the decision to visit the palace's library the following day. According to my father, I can read any book I want, but I need some guards to watch over me in case I need assistance. One of my guards had a frown on his face. He and I keep running into each other, but we always exchange glares. I find it unbelievable that he will be my attendant today. When I recognized the girl from the previous day, my eyes squinted. Typhon had a conversation with her on that particular day.

In a harsh voice, he said, "I can't believe I'm going to be your attendant! So shall I call you Your Royal Highness?" His behavior made me twitch my eyebrows. I turned to face him with my arms crossed. I said irritably, "Who says that I want you to be my attendant? You may go now if you wish."

He turned his head away from me, and the girl next to me made a point of saying, "I'm sorry, Your Royal Highness, but we can't grant your wish. We have been assigned to be your guard today. If we leave you alone, you might end up acting recklessly." I smiled at her and let out a heavy sigh. I calmly replied, "Before we begin, I want to know your names. I don't want to be rude, even to both of you."

"Remember, you always got away from us before, so why bother with your manners now?" he scoffed. The girl next to him elbowed him and glared at him, saying, "Your Royal Highness, I will give you my name because you insist on asking for our names. I'm Dionne Erdmann! Don't you ever forget it? " Dionne said, with a high-pitched tone.

She raises a small portion of her long skirt before making an introduction. "I'm sorry for Sir Dionne's behavior, but I assure you that he was kind. By the way, I'm Caileigh Cromwell. I know that he was upset because he lost to a lady like you. "

Cromwell? Where did I hear that surname? Anyways, I don't care anymore. "Shall we go to the library?" I asked them Caileigh nodded, and Dionne frowned. These two are the total opposite of each other. They unlocked the grand door of the library, and I was overwhelmed by the number of books and archives of the palace library. To my surprise, I thought I was the only person in the library. Caileigh and Dionne bow down to the little boy sitting on the chair reading the history of creation. I found it to be one of the most difficult books for his age. When I saw his face, my heart almost skipped a beat. What the hell is he doing here?

"Good day, Sir Eharis."

He simply nodded, and when he saw me, his eyes widened. "Epiphany? What are you doing here?" Eharis asked. I was surprised that he knew my name. Dionne and Caileigh looked at each other, and she whispered to the little boy. "Sir, you can't talk to her casually. She is the second princess of Eblines."

I stopped Caileigh by raising my hand. "Caileigh, Dionne. Can I have a minute with Sir Ehadris? I want to have a talk for a while." I asked. They nodded and left us in the library. Without showing any expression, I pinched his face very hard. "What the hell are you doing here, Methusael?" I shouted.

He changed his form into a man at the age of twenty, and he evaded my pinching actions. He held my chin before he answered. "Thanks to your offer of marriage, I have to stay in the mortal world. Now you have the responsibility to take care of me." I looked at him and akimbo'd in disbelief.

"Remember that you are at fault in the first place? You tried to collect my soul. That's why I was mistakenly pronounced dead last week!" I replied in dismay. Methusael raised his eyebrows and pretended to be shocked. "Please, don't drag me to your stupidity! Remember that you were not supposed to be dead by that time if you hadn't used your body as a shield? As a god of death, it is my duty to collect souls and sort them based on their deeds!" Methusael exclaimed.

I looked at him and, based on his robe, he was doing well. He is a member of the sages of the capital. "I see that you are doing well. Keep it up,"I said. His face flushed red, and he looked in the other direction. "Don't praise me like that! I felt butterflies in my stomach!" Methusael said, and crouched down while covering his face.

I poked his side and teased him. "I can't believe that you fall in love so easily. If you always do that, you'll end up broken hearted once your partner leaves you."

Methusael overyswayed me like we were dancing. His face was an inch near to mine. "That's why, whatever it takes, I'll get what is rightfully mine. And that is you, "he whispered. He made me sit on a chair, and then he disappeared, leaving black raven feathers fluttering in the air. I picked the falling feather in the air and looked at it.

"So he's really serious about my offer?" I asked myself.

I heard a loud noise coming from the door and then noticed the pale faces of Caileigh and Dionne. With a tone of excitement, Caileigh asked, "Your Highness, did we just see Sir Ehadris change to his true form?"

They both leaped for joy when I nodded. I said in an irritated tone, "So this is your first time that you saw him transformed? That old jerk!" My mouth was covered as Caileigh and Dionne surveyed the area. Dionne said in a frightened voice, "Please don't say that to the Sage of Death!" I scowled and chose to leave the palace. As we approached the city's downtown, they both continued to follow me.

"Have you eaten breakfast?" I asked them. When I turned around to them, I saw that they were being held captive by hoodlums. I crossed my arms and looked at them in a bored tone. "If I were you, I would never mess with them." I looked at their hands and I saw the restraining chains on them. My eyes squinted and I manipulated the restraining chains from the hands of Dionne and Caileigh to the necks of the hoodlums. The hoodlums were panicking as I tightened the restraining chains. Caileigh and Dionne hugged each other and hid in my back.

"Are you done with your farce?" I asked the hoodlums. To my surprise, Typhon landed in front of us and dragged the faces of the hoodlums onto the ground like dirty rugs. After he furiously released his anger, he walked past me and checked Caileigh. "Are you alright, Caileigh? Big Brother Typhon was here. What happened? Why are you outside of the palace?"Typhon sternly asked.

I clenched my fist and turned to Typhon. "I'm sorry, Typhon. I want to have breakfast in the stall, but I guess my recklessness will cause more trouble."

"Your Highness, you should only stay in the palace. We can keep all our loved ones safe, so please cooperate," Typhon said in a bitter tone.

I nodded and let them walk away. Typhon was really mad at me. What should I do?
