Chapter 24 - The Wedding Day

Mumut couldn't sleep until late at night, and it felt like she had just fallen asleep when Aunt Atik woke her up. She glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that it was half-past six in the morning. She immediately got up and entered the bathroom to clean herself. After performing the Fajr prayer, Mumut went down to the first floor. She saw Bian was waiting for her at the dining table. Both of them ate their breakfast in silence. Mumut ate slowly. Every now and then, she stole a glance at Bian. In her heart, she prayed that her decision was not wrong. On the other chair, Bian was lost in thought. Today would be his marriage ceremony with Mumut, not with Ristie like he had dreamed of. Bian wondered if he would regret marrying a janitor that he barely knew. Bian only knew he wanted to repay the pain of being dumped by Ristie, and helped the girl in front of him. Bian didn't know why he had decided to marry that girl and not just help her and take advantage of a man.

Bian sighed, staring at the girl in front of him who was looking down. He had never really noticed that girl before, even though she had often wandered around him, whether she was passing by to clean his room or bringing him a drink. Bian never even considered her existence when he was with Ristie, and the girl was around them. When Mumut lifted her head, Bian saw that the girl still looked beautiful even without make-up on her face. Bian only smiled when she saw Mumut's red face.

After breakfast, Mumut went to her mother's room and saw her mother being made-up by a make-up artist's assistant. Suddenly she felt nervous. Today should be an extraordinary day for her. Getting married ... those words that every woman most anticipated, but every woman must long for the man they loved who would marry them. Mumut shook her head when Andika's face flashed in her eyes. Mumut realized that she didn't have any relationship with Andika. They just had a crush on each other but never dared to express their love.

"Ms. Mutia, the make-up artist, is waiting for you to be made-up," said Aunt Atik when Mumut watched her mother being made up.

"Yes, Auntie. Thank you."

Leaving her mother's room, Mumut found a woman with beautiful makeup waiting for her to dress her up. They immediately went to Mumut's room to dress her up and surprise everyone present today.

The spacious living room was already filled with most of the guests. Actually, they didn't invite many guests, but since most of them brought their partners, the room was quite full. The living room was arranged in a banquet concept, and the guests sat around round tables. The dishes were arranged on one side of the room, making it easier for the guests to take the dishes served there.

The guests were partly Bian's colleagues and partly the directors of Bian's companies. Mother and Mom sat side by side, even though Mother had to support her cast leg. The wedding officiant was also already in place. They were all just waiting for Mumut to be ready.

All eyes in the room were stunned when they saw the bride entering the room. She was wearing an ivory white kebaya with a matching headscarf. Her slender body looked taller with matching high heels. She walked gracefully towards where Bian was sitting. The man barely blinked at his future wife, who looked completely stunning right now. Mumut looked very beautiful despite her makeup.

Mumut was even more nervous when she realized Bian's gaze was on her, her heart was beating faster, and Mumut could feel the tremors in her chest as she sat next to him. She couldn't ignore the presence of the directors in her company in this room, which added to her nervousness. She was afraid that they would recognize her and bully Bian for marrying a janitor who worked in his office. Mumut lowered her face as everyone stared at her.

The wedding ceremony went smoothly, and everyone looked relieved. Bian seemed fluent in saying the solemnization, even though deep in his heart, he still doubted his decision. Because Mumut's father was already not there, Mumut's guardian was the head of the religious affairs office who married them off. Mom immediately approached them and hugged them with great emotion. She kissed Bian's cheek, then kissed Mumut's cheek happily.

Mumut stood beside Bian shyly as they received congratulations from the guests. She felt relieved when the directors from the company didn't recognize her. Even Randy had to look at her repeatedly to make sure that she was Mumut.
