Synopsis

Kimberly Campbell, a beautiful and goal driven financial analyst, knew exactly what she wanted for herself, and a baby didn't make the list. It was a huge stray from the big plans, and the commitment a baby required, she was certain she could never afford. With no one to blame, there was only one victim — the stupid glasses of Vodka that had led her into the arms of a man, whose first name was all she knew. Nicholas. Nicholas Vice loved nothing more than being in charge of his own life and decisions. And he was more proud of the casual and mutually-beneficial relationships with little to no commitments he enjoyed. But disappointment came in shocking waves when his father gave an ultimatum to marry his favorite and soon-to-be promoted staff, or risk losing his inheritance. Vexed and certain there was a ploy somewhere, Nicholas vowed to expose the gold digger who was trying to ruin his life. With determination in his heart, he took up his temp role at the head branch. But the unexpected twist occurs when Nicholas discovers that not only was his 'supposed bride' his one-night stand, she was also pregnant. Taking advantage of 'the' situation, he proposed a deal, the only one he believed would get him out of his father's ultimatum — a contract marriage. Marriage for a year in exchange for her pride and reputation. Excerpt "What's the meaning of this?" Kimberly raised her gaze to him, anger in her eyes and grit in her voice. Unfazed, Nicholas casually shrugged. "An escape plan from my father's insane idea. A contract marriage for a year." He told her. Of course, she could see that. She wasn't blind. "And you're giving this to me because?" She angled a brow, her eyes poring at him with vexation. "You don't have to look so peeved. I'm also not thrilled about this, nor do I want to shackle myself to you." "That makes the two of us." Ignoring her remarks, he continued, "But if you should agree to this, I'll let you know there'd be no marital obligations between us." "You mean, you'd be free to sleep around?" She was sure that was what he meant. "I didn't say...That wasn't what I meant." "Of course." She muttered, but the sarcasm was scalding. "I have no intentions of sleeping with you ever again, even if I have to die of sexual starvation." She said matter-of-factly. Her brows furrowed, when his lips curved to a smirk. And not for a second did she miss miss his covert glance at her thighs beneath the glass table. He leaned in, slowly. "Are you sure about that?" he whispered. "Because I'm wondering why your thighs are pressed so close together, and the high color on your face—" he trailed off, letting that devilish smile bloom on purpose. "You're flushed, Berry." He finished. He could see it under the dim glow of lights, no matter how she tries to deny it. Slightly shifting on her seat, Kimberly refuted. "I'm not flushed." He shrugged again and leaned back into his seat. "Deny it as much as you can, but I'll let you know, I'd never lay a finger on you if you were the last woman on earth." And he meant it. But a year was too long to be so sure of anything. Grappling with the difficulty and guilt of their deceit, they both discover the multiple layers of personalities that made the other unique. Suddenly pressed for time, Nicholas must devise a way to renew the contract, because a year was simply not enough. And a whole lot can happen in 365 days that could change a man.
