2 Blurry Dreams

"Princess Ariel, you need to calm down. It's not the end of the world." Thana, Princess Ariel's handmaid spoke calmly to her mistress who was pacing back and forth in her room.

Ariel received the news as well. She can't possibly turn a deaf ear to the cries of her people. It had saddened her heart to the extent that she couldn't bear it. Ariel was the daughter of the King and Queen of Macbeth. She recently came back to settle down in her hometown. She had been in the city; where she get to meet with some civilized tribes for two years.

"I can't possibly calm down Thana. These people are suffering and we can't do anything to help them. I'm worried for their sake. No food, people are running helter-skelter to provide for the needs of their various families." Ariel couldn't help but feel helpless.

Thana tried to put herself in her mistress's shoes, so she possibly knew how Princess Ariel was feeling. "I know everything will be alright if they find the prophetess." Thana gasped realizing what she just said, she used her palm to cover her mouth.

Ariel sat back quickly on her bed. She wasn't deaf so she heard what Thana said. Loud and clear. "What do you mean if they find the prophetess?"

"It's nothing Princess. I'll go prepare your warm bath." Thana quickly stood up, turning to leave but Ariel help her sleeve.

"How dare you turn away from me without my permission?" Ariel motioned her to sit opposite her. "Now speak. What about the prophetess?" Ariel was curious to know who this prophetess was. Maybe it could be related to her mysterious nightmares.

Thana didn't spare Princess Ariel a glance. She bowed her head cursing inwardly. If only she kept her mouth shut, the princess won't be desperate to know more.

Seeing that Thana was not saying anything, Ariel held Thana's jaw and they maintained long eye contact before Ariel could let go. "Speak up!" She ordered.

Thana was tensed. She didn't want to look more like a blabbermouth who can't keep her mouth shut but she had to say what she knew to Princess if not she might lose her head.

"The prophetess might know the solution to all of our problems but the problem we're having now is on how to find her." Thana let out a long sigh before bowing her head again.

"And..." Ariel didn't seem to be satisfied with Thana's answer.

"I think about the mysterious death of the people that went to the River of Valox," Thana said exhaling.

Ariel was caught unawares. She needed to think about it. The River was not an ordinary one. Maybe they might have been thirsty and decided to drink from the water without knowing how dangerous it is. 'Poor people' Ariel thought.

"You're indirectly saying the prophetess might be responsible for their death." Ariel used her knuckles to support her jaw amused by Thana's beliefs.

"Princess Ariel, the prophetess's whereabouts remains a mystery to us. I know the King will surely find her even if it means crossing the River of Valox." Thana said with so much confidence.

Ariel could see that her hand's maid had so much faith in her father; the King. Her father was such a failure. The reason he sent her away to the city was for her to acquire some knowledge about martial arts and ever since she came back she had been having strange dreams. Dreams that were not clear to her.

She also needed the prophetess. Maybe the prophetess could help in interpreting her dreams.

"Prepare a warm bath for me. Arrange my clothes." Ariel ordered not wanting to talk about the issue anymore. Thana nodded and left to do as she was instructed.

Ariel tried to remember the images she saw in her dream but it was the images were blurry. How could she tell her dreams to the prophetess when she didn't even know what she sees vividly?

She lay flat on her bed trying to recall what she had dreamt but all was to no avail, she tried again but it gave her the same results so she gave up.

Thana was already done with the task her mistress assigned to her. She helped Princess Ariel to get inside the bathtub. Ariel wanted to know more about the prophetess from Thana.

Thana on the other hand kept on with her attitude by snubbing the Princess so she won't pester her with any more questions.

Once Ariel was done getting dressed she rushed down to the throne room to meet her father. She needed to give him a piece of her mind.

On getting there, some of her father's guards stopped her, blocking her entrance to the throne room.

"I command you make way for me" She ordered with a harsh tone.

The guards seemed less frightened by her words.

"The King doesn't need anymore in, for now, your Ladyship" One of the guards gestured for her to leave.

Ariel was taken aback by their actions. How dare those guards to disregard her. They dared to disrespect her. She left their presence almost immediately and stormed into her room.

"Urghh.. those fools, they're surely gonna pay for what they did," Ariel said picking a book from her shelf. She needed to read more about Kingdoms, rulers, and supernatural beings. Her blurry dreams weren't an exception.

The first page of the book frightened her a bit. The creature that was drawn on the first page of the book looked too real. It was more like a goddess that was drawn there. According to the drawing, the woman had long curly hair that was up to her waist. She had a beautiful figure and only her private organs were covered with some pieces of clothing.

Ariel read slowly what was written beneath the drawing. Most of the words were written in a foreign ancient language. The woman in the drawing happened to be the prophetess.

"What the heck...The prophetess?" Ariel gasped.
