6 Mark Wang in the building

Eric blinked his eyes repeatedly as he watched Mark put down the phone.

"Elena Huang, the woman you had one nightstand with 5 years ago, doesn't know you are Mark Wang?"

Looking into his brother's eyes, he asked for clarification, "Did I get it right?"

"Yes."

"How is that possible?"

"We never introduced ourselves since we never knew we would meet again. It was just a one night of fiery passion."

That was the agreement between him and Elena back then after they agreed to get entangled in the sheets.

"So…" Eric drawled. "You are going to meet her as the man from 5 years ago, or as Mark Wang?"

"Both," Mark grinned. "I don't know why, but I suddenly want to be greedy."

"It looks like things are going to be fun. Good for you," Eric smirked as he straightened his back. He was looking forward to getting feedback from his brother.

"I can't wait to meet you, Elena Huang," Mark smiled with a smug gaze ahead.

---

"What the…" Elena's brows constricted in a frown.

She stared at her phone screen for several seconds before muttering under her breath, "You better not call me back." With that said, she went straight to blacklist Mark's contact.

She didn't think he made any sense and for that reason, she didn't want to hear from him again. This was not the time for her to be distracted by other people.

Mark Wang was next on her to-do list after moving to City H and attending that party last night. She had no space for others, especially someone she wasn't hoping to meet again.

Tossing her phone on the bed, she walked up to her closet and opened the doors. She gazed intently at clothes arranged in a neat row. There was something important she had to do.

A few minutes later, Elena sighed for the nth time after trying out her work uniform in front of the standing mirror.

There was everything wrong with that outfit. The split on the back of the skirt was a little too long, plus it was tight fitting.

The jacket was a little big for her body, but what she couldn't handle more was how tight the white button-down shirt was. She could almost feel her boobs threatening to split the buttons.

"I can't even breathe properly in this. Can I ever get used to this?" she said a little breathlessly while standing in comfortable low black block heel shoes, the only item she had gotten for herself. Maybe that was the reason she was comfortable in it.

Elena hadn't come all the way to City H in blind pursuit of Mark Wang. That was her main purpose, but that didn't mean she was to stay idle while waiting for the blessed day she would finally meet him.

Before then, she had to make sure she was earning an income at the end of every month to take care of her needs and a little to spare for the family she left behind.

If she hadn't made it to the list of the top employee of the month for four years in a row in her former workplace, maybe her today's story would have been different.

Elena was working in a famous high-end brand store before applying for a transfer to the main branch in City H and finally, when her request was approved, everything clicked. And now she had to get ready for work as a shop assistant the next day, but her uniform wasn't clicking at all.

Grabbing the item that was supposed to be made into a tie around her neck, she sighed. "Seems like I will choke before I get settled at work tomorrow."

Regardless of her complaints, she went ahead to fix her scarf. It was made with a silky material and tied in a beautiful bow at the left side of her neck. She practised her smiles and a few warm gestures she would be using on her clients.

But something was off about her actions. Although she seemed to be smiling, that glint didn't reach her eyes.

Elena looked more like a robot forced to practice being happy. But while she got busy preparing for her first day at work, she gradually forgot about Mark and what he had said at end of their conversation.

*******

MONDAY, 21st APRIL.

Elena got dressed in her uniform and left for work around 7 in the morning. It was her first day at work, she had to clock in early to do her registration, get a tour of her new workplace, and get settled in a bit before the customers started coming in.

Twenty minutes later, she arrived at Deluxe Stores.

Straight up after introducing herself, she finished up her registration and received her ID before she was introduced to the rest of the staff she would be working with.

Next, she was shown to her locker where she put away her personal items before she got to tour the entire store.

Some minutes later after she got settled in, she was shown her stand post as the store got ready to start receiving customers.

It didn't take much time for Elena to get comfortable with customers as she was not a newbie to being a shop assistant.

She went about assisting the rich customers that were assigned to her with a fake smile on her face.

Elena smiled so much that her cheeks were starting to hurt, but she couldn't stop, at least not yet. She still had half an hour until their lunch break, and she couldn't wait to relax her facial muscles.

But who knew the unexpected would happen a few minutes before their lunch break?

Right as Elena was keeping count of the last minute, a very reputable customer that sent everyone into a frenzy walked into the store.

"Oh. My. Goodness! Is that not Mark Wang?" one of the store attendants said to the staff standing next to her in a hushed tone.

No matter how excited they were, they had to comport themselves to avoid getting fired on the spot.

'Mark Wang? Mark was in their store?' As soon as that name reached Elena's ears, her gaze started to dart around in search of his figure.

On the other hand, Mark casually stepped into the store with his lips pressed together. He already knew the reaction he would be getting, so he wasn't moved by the overly excited gazes on him. He was already used to it.

Quickly, his gaze scanned the store. He overlooked the other customers as his interest lay in the store attendants.

Just then, the store manager who was attending to a customer asked someone to replace her before walking up to him with a polite smile.

"Mr. Wang, do you need a personal shopper to help you?"

At the same time, Elena stepped out from behind the shadows to have a look at the man called Mark Wang. And she was right on time to see the man who had drawn much attention from everyone in the store taking off his sunshades.

Instantly, she met his gaze.

There and then, her heart froze in her chest as recognition filled her eyes. 'He is the one?'

Elena was more than momentarily speechless.

Seeing her reaction, Mark was satisfied. "I want her," he said, pointing a finger in her direction.
