Chapter 10 I am getting married

At the words, chairman Zhang straightened up in his seat before saying," Tell me." Hesitating for a while, Zhang Yu finally stated," I am getting married."

This left the two shocked because as far as they knew, he loved one woman, and he was already married.

A while later, chairman Zhang replied,"Uh, I honestly don't know what to say. It really caught me by surprise but nonetheless, I am happy for you."

"I am still shocked but it's good to know that you finally decided to give up on Yan Mei," said Zhang Wei.

Before Zhang Yu could reply to that, his grandfather said," Who is the lady? Do we know her?"

"Yes grandpa you all know her. I am getting married to Yan Mei," he revealed.

Their eyes widened in shock and Zhang Wei said," Big brother, I understand your obsession for her but she's a married woman."

On hearing that, his face darkened and he said," She's a free woman. She recently got divorced."

"Divorced?" asked chairman Zhang in surprise.

"Yes," he replied firmly.

Zhang Wei's eyes narrowed and she asked," Brother, did you have something to do with it?"

"Of course not! I didn't do anything," he replied immediately.

"Does she know about it? I mean the marriage?" asked chairman Zhang.

"Of course grandpa. What do you take me for?"

"And she agreed to it so easily? Didn't you force her against her will?" he asked warrily.

"Of course not. Well, I won't say that she agreed to it willingly but I will be sure not to make her regret it," he replied.

A while later, chairman Zhang said," Alright. When am I meeting her?" "It will be after we get married." "Fine. By the way, when is the wedding?" he asked. "Monday. We are going to register it," he replied.

"That is so soon. But any way, we can use a week to get prepared," said chairman Zhang. "It is this Monday grandpa," said Zhang Yu. Both their eyes widened before saying," What? You mean the day after tomorrow?" "Yes."

"Why? What's with the rush? You mean we only have tomorrow?" asked Zhang Wei. "What's wrong with it? You only have to be there for me at the bureau of Civil affairs," he said. "I can't believe it really," complained Zhang Wei who did not like the way things were rushing at this point.

As Yan Mei was still snuggling in bed, the curtains were opened at once and the sun rays fell on her face, making her squint her eyes before she slowly opened them.

"Mother," she complained in a sleepy voice.

Her mother had asked her to spend the night at the house since she was getting married the next day.

"You should wake up so that we start preparing," said Ms Yan and Yan Mei lazily sat up.

"You don't want to make your soon to be husband wait, do you?" she said and Yan Mei blinked her eyes as she leaned her back against the headrest. She knew that her mother didn't care about how her marriage will be, or the kind of person Mr Zhang was. All she cared about was what the marriage was going to benefit them.

Sitting on the bed next to her, Ms Yan began to say, "Listen to me carefully Yan Mei. You should always remember these words. You have to be an obedient wife to your husband. Always listen to him and avoid making him upset. Today is going to be your wedding night so make use of it. Make sure that he gets you pregnant as soon as possible. You will only secure your position as the daughter in law of the Zhang family if you give birth to the future heir of the Zhang group. Let me hope I am clear."

Yan Mei simply nodded her head.

"Alright then. Get up and have your bath so that I can start making you look beautiful," she said and Yan Mei hesitantly got out of bed.

Going to Chairman Zhang's house, the groom to be had changed his clothes for the umpteenth time.

Du Tian who was sitting on the couch while going through his phone looked at him and said," Man are you serious? It is women that are indecisive on what to wear."

Zhang Yu glared at him as if to shut his mouth and he went back to trying on another shirt.

"If you keep doing that, we shall end up being late and she might think that you had a change of heart," he said and Zhang Yu paused.

Realizing that he had a point, he checked through all the shirts he had won and picked one.

Just when he was going to put it on, the door was pushed open and Zhang Wei came inside.

"Can't you knock?" asked Zhang Yu who was putting on the shirt. She rolled her eyes and asked," What for?"

Du Tian then smirked and decided to tease her by saying," You should familiarize yourself with knocking before entering your brother's room or else you might walk in on your brother and sister in law doing it. Or would you want to see them?"

At the words, Zhang Wei blushed furiously and she shouted," You're so shameless!" And she immediately ran out of the room.

Du Tian looked at Zhang Yu who was glaring at him before asking," What nonsense are you spouting?" "Is it nonsense? I know that you can't wait for your wedding night," he teased smirking, but he instead won himself another glare.

Zhang Yu glanced at his wrist watch as they sat in the lobby of the bureau of the civil affairs. The Yans were thirty minutes late and somewhere, he was starting to get worried. Did she perhaps have a change of heart? But he had been sure to give her parents a very profitable deal and it was nearly impossible for them to back out.

A while later, Chairman Zhang who was equally getting worried looked at his grandson and decided to ask," Zhang Yu, did she really agree to this?"

"Of course," he replied firmly before adding," They are coming. Something might have come up that made them delay."

"They are here!" said Zhang Wei and they all turned to look at the entrance.
