Someone Who Knows

Two mornings after the bloody incident, Phillip woke up to a threat from an anonymous account.

After freshening up in the morning, he picked up his phone and went straight to the dining area in his newly rented apartment to eat the breakfast his chef prepared for him.

A few minutes into his meal, he decided to check his phone; a wrong move that got him choking on his food as his eyes widened in shock.

"Sir, it's everything okay? Do you need more water?" The chef called from the kitchen, but no response came so she had to rush over. But as soon as her presence invaded him, he waved for her to leave as he struggled to pour himself some water while in a coughing fit.

Left with no choice, the private chef picked up her things and left for the day. Now, left alone, Phillip picked up his phone again to take a look at the mail.

"Fuck!" he cursed out loud as he scrolled up to see the images from the scene he thought he had escaped from.

"You can't escape until I let you."

As his eyes read the message, he felt his heart thumping in his chest as goose bumps popped on his skin.

A shiver ran through the length of his spine knowing that someone knew his bloody secret, but who could it be?

'No one from my team would ever dare to betray me,' he thought, then shook his head. "Could it be someone from the club?" he thought out loud.

Unable to bear the crime scene anymore without knowing the answers to his questions, he picked up his phone to make a call, and as soon as the call connected, he announced, "Someone is threatening me with the pictorial evidence from that girl's murder. Are you sure you wiped the footage from the cameras?"

"Yes, we did that. If someone is really threatening you with the pictures from the scene, then I think they managed to get into that room to take pictures before we arrived to take care of the mess," the person at the other end announced.

Immediately, Phillip's blood ran cold as saliva dried from his mouth. He almost couldn't feel his heartbeat anymore.

If there was truly a thing like a second death, then this was what he just experienced now.

"How can someone else know about this and have this much evidence in their hands?" he asked with a shaky voice. "Is my entire life not finished?"

"Please, calm down first. I need you to send me to IP address from the mail message. My team will track it to see if we can find anything useful to help us find out who this person is," the person at the other instructed.

"How do you expect me to calm down?!" Phillip roared as he hit his fist on the table. In the end, he was the one who felt the most impact from his rage. "Someone has a secret that can destroy my entire family and get me sent to jail and you are asking me to calm down?"

The man at the other end released a deep sigh but refused to interrupt him as he listened patiently to him rage on and on about how he wanted his blackmailer found and killed off if possible.

They were still trying to completely erase the bloody mess and any trace of him committing murder and yet he still wanted to have another person killed?

Phillip has completely lost his mind.

"We don't know the identity of this person, so we have to be careful with our moves so it doesn't backfire. I will check through the footage we still have in our possession to see if we can find a suspect, maybe the person that went into that room after you left."

Hearing this, Phillip felt that the man was starting to make sense, but he was still yet to be satisfied given the dangerous situation he was in.

"Please, be fast about it. I will send the IP address you requested. Also, what did you do with the body? How did you get rid of it?" he inquired with curiosity.

It was as if Phillip wanted to make sure that the dead body of Angel wouldn't be suddenly found and used to threaten him further by the anonymous person after his sanity.

"We buried it. Even if the police were to investigate this, they would never be able to find the body." 'Well, unless you are not caught and implicate us into revealing the location.'

The man kept his thoughts to himself knowing that revealing that would cause the madness weighing Phillip down to rise again.

"Good!" Phillip seemed a little satisfied. "Now, quickly find out who this bastard is before I lose my temper!" he ordered.

After spending a few days with his family in Vancouver, Christian was set to leave for LA. Although he was still unhappy with his mother's excessive worry, he didn't have anything against her.

At least it was because he was still unaware of her plans to meddle more in his affairs.

"I wish you could come to visit often," Susie said while holding his hands and staring into his eyes with disappointment.

"I wish so as well unfortunately, my job is in LA, and I can't mess up after getting to a higher position," Christian said, humouring her.

"Of course, not." Susie smiled. "I want the best for you even though I would miss your presence.

Christian stole a glance at their mother before replying, "I will try to call often, now, don't let our mother start scolding me."

Just as Christian reached for his luggage, he remembered an idea and quickly turned around to meet his sister's gaze.

"I recently purchased a house in an estate in LA, and it is currently under renovation. How about I give it to you and you relocate to LA? It will be easier to look after you and the kids." he suggested.

A deep sigh escaped Susie's lips, she glanced at her mother before moving her gaze back to him.

"Thank you, Chris. I want to remember Mark here, but I will think about your offer," she replied with a painful smile that tugged at the corner of her lips.
