52 A Wild Friend; Maya

Diane suffered from a big headache for two nights all because she met Christian at the Charity dinner.

She didn't know what his actions represented or what he wanted from her. Nothing was more upsetting than that. Fortunately for her, she got something else to distract her.

One of her friends from high school was coming to LA, and she was going to pick her up from the airport the following day after work since her flight would be landing late.

There was a big smile on Diane's face when she finally saw Maya pushing a truckload of pieces of luggage coming out from the arrival gates.

She quickly walked up to her, calling her name. "Maya!"

"My love!" Immediately Maya sighted her, she abandoned the trolley and dashed towards her with a big smile on her face with her arms spread apart.

As soon as they met each other, they enveloped themselves in a tight hug, almost spinning in the process.

"I missed you so much and not the smell of the hospital," Maya, a pretty tanned-skinned woman of the same height as Diane, said with her eyes shut.

She had a nose ring on plus three more piercings on each ear of hers. She was dressed in boots, which helped to project her height a few inches taller than Diane at the moment.

Maya had this cool fashion sense and so was dressed in a trendy white shirt dress that had a jean material stamped around the burst area.

After releasing themselves from the hug, Diane arranged her hair with a smile and apologized. "I'm sorry, I didn't have the time to go home and freshen up."

"Are you kidding me?" Maya chuckled heartily and pulled her back to her embrace for another tight long hug. "I was only teasing you. It's not like I would have preferred to spend another hour waiting at the airport before you arrive."

The driver Diane had come with finally caught up with her and came over to help push the trolley of a few pieces of luggage as they stepped outside.

After loading the bags into the trunk, the driver took over the wheel and drove them out of the airport premises.

"OMG! I missed you so much!" Maya giggled as she took in Diane's appearance. "You look so much fresher than the last face-time we had," she praised. "I never knew that getting a divorce could leave a woman glowing so much."

Diane held back a smile. "Thank you." That was a compliment from a dearest friend, of course, she should accept it.

"So, tell me, how have you been? Have you met anyone new?" Maya asked as she shrugged her designer bag from Chanel off her shoulder before shifting all her focus to her.

"Really?" Diane squinted her eyes at her. "Do you all expect me to love another person after what I'd been through in the past? Common!"

Maya cackled. "You clearly told me your family arranged blind dates for you. What else was I supposed to think other than the fact that you were ready to be in a relationship?"

Diane looked her in the eyes and revealed the reason for the blind dates. "I am using the blind dates to stall for time. I am not interested in getting married any longer, but it's obvious that my parents do not think so."

"Well, it's a good thing they are letting you make your choice now instead of hand-picking an evil seed like Phillip," Maya shrugged.

At the mention of that name, Diane gave her a look. "And guess the name of my first blind date?"

Maya squinted her eyes in confusion. "Phillip." Diane dropped the bump and reclined in her seat.

It took a moment for Maya to register that piece of information and when she did, laughter rolled out from her belly as she slapped Diane's thigh softly. "Oh, my goodness! Are you for real? Hahaha…"

---

Almost two hours later, Maya freshened up and appeared before Diane in the kitchen.

Hearing the approaching steps behind her, Diane opened her refrigerator and asked, "Should we have dinner outside, or would you prefer an indoor pizza and ice cream plus a TV show?"

Maya scoffed and came to stand beside her to look into her refrigerator which was filled with already prepped meals.

"You are single and I am VERY much single. We are going clubbing!" Maya announced.

Diane shut her refrigerator and turned to face her with a questioning brow. "Are you serious right now?"

Maya spread out her hands. "Does this baby girl look like she is joking?"

Diane studied her for a moment and quickly shook her head seeing that she was serious. "No way! You need to rest after a long flight and not partying. Also, you need food, not drinks."

Maya looked amused hearing that. Immediately, she folded her arms below her chest and met her gaze.

Maya was putting on jean bum-shorts that was shredded at the rear with a big polo that covered up half of it.

It was a good thing she was backing Diane otherwise the other woman would have had something to say.

"Who told you they don't sell food in a club?"

Diane released a deep sigh as she tipped her head backwards. She was already exhausted from handling one big female adult with a wild lifestyle.

"Can you please not take me with you because I can't see myself in a nightclub," she groaned.

Maya's brows furrowed in confusion. "But I saw you at a nightclub."

Immediately, Diane put her head down as her gaze shot to her. "When?" she asked, looking frightened.

"Tonight," Maya replied as her face contoured with a smile. Getting Diane's glare which she long expected, she put her hands on her shoulder and started pushing her towards the door.

"We are going to eat pizza, and then we are off the club. Don't say 'no' or try to bribe me with that pity look. I just want to tell you ahead of time that it's not going to work."

Several minutes later, the girls finished their pizza and went to dress up. By the time Maya finished and stepped out, she saw what Diane was putting on and rolled her eyes.

"My love, please go back inside your bedroom, take off those wide-legged pants and put on an appropriate outfit for clubbing."

Diane looked down at her outfit before lifting her head the next moment. "What is wrong with my outfit?"

"Are you seriously asking me that question?" Maya looked like she swallowed a fly before twirling and pointing at herself. "Can't you see what I'm putting on?"

Diane shook her head. "I don't go to the clubs, so it's a given that I don't have the right outfits for it."

"Thankfully, you have me!" As soon as those words left Maya's lips, she matched forward and grabbed Diane's hand before dragging her along.

A few minutes later, Diane stood before the mirror staring at herself with tightly knitted brows. "This isn't a dress," she said turning to face that proud woman who was staring at her like she was her masterpiece. "This is a rag."

Maya folded her arms below her chest and gave her a look. "Then maybe you will attract something in it."

At the other end of the city, Christian was enjoying a glass of red wine sitting on a barstool at the kitchen counter with a business paper he didn't get to finish reading that morning when his phone rang.

It was a call from George, so he quickly answered it.

"Sir, Diane and an unidentified woman were spotted at Serene's Nightclub."

Instantly, Christian barked, "What is she doing there?"

"Partying?" George answered carefully.

Christian clenched his fingers. "Come and pick me up immediately!"

That was the end of his night reading.
