Laughing Voice

Doctor Tara arrived at Kelvin's house as soon as Mrs Binta called her. It happened that she had no appointment at the clinic so she rushed to Kelvin's house quickly.

When Kelvin got home, he rushed to his bedroom. Doctor Tara was already examining Luliyah.

Luliyah's face looked pale, her eyes was closed. Mrs Binta was standing close to Tara, waiting anxiously for the results of the examination and Kelvin's arrival.

Kelvin hurried over to Tara, followed by Harris who was behind him. "What's wrong with Luliyah? Why is she suddenly sick?"

Doctor Tara removed the stethoscope from her ear and hung it on her neck. She turned to look at Kelvin, "Looks like this is an allergy reaction. Does the patient have any allergies?" She inquired.

Mrs Binta looked worried when heard results of the test. Did she cook something that made Luliyah to be sick like this? She didn't even know that Luliyah had allergies.

Kelvin was just as clueless. He could only shake his head when Doctor Tara asked him.

"To find out what allergies the patient has, a further examination needs to be done..." Doctor Tara said with a straight face.

"Coffee..." A low voice rang out, making everyone to turn towards the direction of where the voice came from.

Luliyah slowly opened her eyes. She saw many people gathered around her. She could barely hear what they were talking about, but she was not strong enough to respond. So she could only say one word.

Luliyah is allergic to coffee.

Hearing this, Kelvin got angry. Luliyah had a coffee allergy. She was sick because of what Martins and Natali did at the cafe yesterday. It was because of the damn coffee Natali poured on Luliyah.

Kelvin was furious. His hands was clenched tightly as he gritted his teeth in annoyance. He shouldn't have let them go yesterday. The way he splashed coffee on Natali's face was just a light punishment not compared to the pain Luliyah was experiencing at the moment.

'I should have retaliated even more cruelly to them yesterday', Kelvin thought.

"I will give her injection to reduce the fever and pain she's feeling. The patient should rest for a few days and she should not be stressed." Doctor Tara said while looking at Luliyah.

"Hmm..."Luliyah could only mutter and nod slowly.

After giving Luliyah the injection and prescribing some medicines, Doctor Tara left the house.

Mrs Hana cooked porridge for Luliyah because she had not eaten anything since morning. Before resting again, she asked Luliyah to eat a little porridge so that her stomach would not be empty.

After she ate the porridge, Luliyah felt a little better. Maybe the drug also worked, because she was no longer weak as before.

As she laid on the bed, she thought about Kelvin. She didn't see the man at all after Doctor Tara gave her injection. She didn't know where the man was.

Her eyes suddenly felt heavy, then she fell back asleep.

...

After Doctor Tara gave the injection, Kelvin left the bedroom and continued his work in the study. He tried to calm himself down by immersing himself with work, but it was completely useless.

Harris also felt the same way. He has been accompanying Kelvin since he was a child , so he could feel that his boss couldn't focus on his work. Kelvin's mood was so bad that all of the documents that was presented on the table was thrown on the floor.

"Sir, is..." Harris did not finish what he was saying before Kelvin raised his hand to stop him.

"I will definitely repay them when the time comes..." Kelvin's voice was cold and threatening. He knew that his assistant could see his bad mood and was awaiting his orders.

Kelvin already had a plan on getting back at Martins and Natali for their actions towards Luliyah, he was just waiting for the right time.

"Yes sir." Harris answered, "I suggest you go for a rest and check Madam's condition." He knew Kelvin would not be able to do anything work related because he was angry.

Kelvin nodded in agreement. He knew that he couldn't concentrate on working. Maybe he should take Kelvin's advice, to rest and see how Luliyah was faring.

He left his study and immediately went to his bedroom. When he entered the room, he saw that the room was dark, illuminated only by a dim light from the lamp-stand on the table beside Luliyah.

Luliyah was still sleeping. Her body looked tiny under the thick blanket. This time, the woman was sleeping more comfortably and quietly than before.

Kelvin sat on the edge of the bed, lifted his hand and touched Luliyah forehead. He wanted to check her temperature. Fortunately her fever was gone.

When she felt someone's hand touch her forehead, Luliyah woke up. She slowly opened her eyes, then turned and saw Kelvin sitting on the side of the bed staring at her. He was no longer wearing his office wear but casual home fits.

"How are you?" Kelvin asked. He could see that Luliyah's face was not as pale as before.

"I'm getting better..." Luliyah answered softly. Her body already felt much better than before. She was no longer sweating or feeling itchy, thanks to the injection given by Doctor Tara.

Kelvin didn't remove his hand from her forehead. He patted Luliyah's head gently and stroked her hair, which made her surprised. Luliyah was surprised to see Kelvin being so gentle with her. Kelvin had always helped her and was nice to her, but the man always kept his distance. He didn't touch her much and always kept a distance between them.

But, she didn't hate the touch of his hand....

"Why are you not working?" Luliyah asked.

"I'm resting." Kelvin replied. He didn't tell Luliyah that he couldn't concentrate. He couldn't focus because he thought about her condition. But after seeing her, he felt happy and calm.

Luliyah's presence brought him happiness and peace to him.

"Rest....I'll go back to work." Kelvin said as he removed his hand from her forehead. When he was about to leave, Luliyah grabbed Kelvin's wrist, trying to stop him from leaving.

"It's okay. I'm not feeling sleepy." Luliyah said. She didn't know how she got the courage to do that. After she realized that her hand was still on Kelvin's, Luliyah immediately pulled her hand and hid her face under the blanket.

Kelvin chuckled when he saw her reaction. Luliyah was shocked when she the laughter. This was the first time Kelvin laughed in front of her. His laughter sounded very warm and melodious in her ears, so she laughed with him.

Kelvin spent an hour accompanying Luliyah until she slept off. Before he left, he looked at Luliyah and made sure that she was sleeping soundly.

Kelvin left a light kiss on the woman's forehead, while the determination in his heart grew stronger. He wouldn't let anyone hurt Luliyah, not even her father. He would repay them a thousand fold for what they did to Luliyah.
