I watched the paper bills rain around me, my gaze focused on Alpha Matteo. He had that annoying smirk plastered on his face.

I was reining in my anger, thinking about the consequences of lashing out at him. I made no move to pick up the bills he threw away.

He was boasting about his wealth and being arrogant about his looks. The man before me was not a man.

He was a monster.

While he and I were locked in a glaring contest, my heart didn’t stop pounding inside my chest. The double door behind Alpha Matteo swung open several seconds later.

He and I turned our attention to it, finding Oliver poking his head out. He analyzed the situation, seeing the money scattered on the floor.

Oliver caught my gaze; a look of pity passed his expression before he turned to Alpha Matteo.

“Someone is looking for you,” Oliver explained. Alpha Matteo glanced at me, scoffed, and left. The sound of lively music echoed from inside; the party became full-on.
